"So Mr wolf, do you like strawberries?"

I asked the big bad wolf has I plucked a few strawberries from the tree. I brought the basket and dropped a few into it. I placed the basket near him.

"You can snack on this for now," I say and move closer to the wolf that was lying on the haystack.

His black fur glistened under the sunlight and I couldn't help but feel mesmerized by his bright green eyes. Thinking back from then to now. I'm just glad I'm alive.

-Flashback, 3 weeks prior-

It was cold and was raining heavily on that day. I had finished teachings students and I made sure each of them had gotten home safely. I was merely a healing teacher.

Walking into my barn, I noticed my horses were in the corner of the stable far away from where they normally were.

"Really... why are you so scared, there's nothing-"

I paused shortly as I realized there was something inside the barn. And it was occupying my bed.

A big black wolf. It was bigger compared to the regular wolves in the area. It was unconscious and was breathing heavily. It was wounded and I crawled closer to it to check its injuries.

The wolf was awake and growled as I came closer, "It's okay I'm not going to hurt. I can help you if you allow me." I softly spoke.

The wolf was cautious and slowly got up. I was afraid of it but it needed to trust me. And shortly after it stood up, I saw its wounds. A massive laceration was on its side.

"If I don't treat that wound... you're going to bleed out and die. I don't want to see you die. You look like you've been through a lot and I'm sure this won't stop you, right?" I said and abruptly stood up.

"Wait right here, I'll bring you some medicine and food."

The big black wolf had a bewildered look upon its face. I wasn't surprised, on the contrary, I was happy that I could at least help a wolf. I always loved helping animals. In a way, this gave me a chance to help it get better.

I quickly rushed to get some food and my medical equipment. Scrambling back to the barn. I was still drenched in the rain.

"Lay on your side, I need to disinfect it," I said applying some ointments that I had created.

"And also this might hurt a little bit so please bear with the pain," I whispered afraid of hurting it anymore.

The big black wolf glanced at me curiously, as if it was unafraid of the pain. And then I continued to heal him with the medicines I had created.

Hours had passed and I had finally stitched his wounds together, "You will recover in about two months, maybe less considering how well your body will heal."

The wolf had only groaned from the pain but it never yell or scream. It silently endured it and I was surprised at its sheer strength to live.

-End of Flashback-

Thinking about that day, I never expected to befriend a wolf. I decided to call him Wolfie.

"Wolfie, what do you want to eat for supper?" I asked him has he huffed at me once again.

I narrowed my eyes at him amused, "Oh shush you, you love it when I call you that." I giggled a little bit and got the firewood ready in a pit.

It was as if Wolfie had merely become acquainted with me and kind of got used to the name. I know it was bizarre to think this but Wolfie came across very different. He didn't behave like how a wolf would except he was like a human at times.

Well, it was only my imagination...

The wind began to pick up and I glimpsed at the forest behind me. It had started again... The voices that only I could hear. The horses started to grow restless. Even Wolfie didn't like what was happening. I wasn't sure if they could hear them but I despised hearing it.

Every time the voices could be heard was around the full moon. I became weak and I felt useless. I always ended up being sick around this time of the month and it wasn't caused by my period.

I lay against the hay close to Wolfie. My head felt heavy and my body felt hot. Somehow laying next to him removed those effects but the voices remained.

'Give into it'

'Return to us'

'Help us'

'It's your destiny'

I always heard those words and many more. It was as if the forest was telling me the truth, beckoning me to crawl deeper inside to find out more.

So the next thing I did was I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep.

•°•°•

I felt warmth on my skin. A cold finger caressed my face. The heat in my body melted to its cold embrace. I wanted more but I was afraid.

"Don't be afraid, I shall return for you," A whisper in the wind and a light peck on my forehead.

The nightmares turned to dreams. A blissful sleep.

When I awoke the next day Wolfie was gone. I was miserable. I had forgotten that he would one day leave and I somehow grew attached to the big black wolf.

For now, I'll just have to continue living my best. Getting ready for a new day. A couple of weeks had passed quickly. I tended to the horses and cleaned the barn. I was sewing a few patches on my dresses when I heard somebody calling me.

"Excuse me, miss Eve? Are you at home?"

Curiosity got the better of me, I peeked through the window and caught a glimpse of the village doctor. I inwardly groaned and inhaled. I neatened myself and then I opened the door stepping outside.

"Lester! Good Morning, How do you do? what brings you all the way here?" I cheerfully replied.

Lester was 25 years making him 5 years older than me. Comparing our skills in medicine and healing, I knew far more than he claimed.

"I am doing well now that I have been graced by this fair lady's presence." Lester smiled. I could only cringe inwardly.

This man always wanted to find ways to get together with me. He was a fine young man but he wasn't what I wanted.

"I was wondering if you could accompany me to the next village. We are running low on medicinal herbs."

The nearest village was a couple of hours away, "I can accompany you, we can also take my horses to reach back before the night rises."

"Very well, whatever suits your interest. I shall return in an hour at most."

He bid farewell and quickly left. Sighing, I realized this was going to be a long day.
