Massacre

The yawn escaped me as I ground the herbs. I had already made a few batches of medicinal herbs to sell. But I was so tired and my body ached. I was so tired to the point where I think I began hallucinating and I saw Wolfie going into the forest beckoning for me to follow.

And then I saw 'her' standing at the edge of the forest. A smile upon her face as she danced and swirled around motioning for me to join her. A cough brought me out of my reverie. I held my head at the oncoming headache was near.

"W...water..." The man whispered. I gathered some spring water for him to drink. I gently picked him up to sit upright. The man had long black hair. He had a lean but strong built. He appeared like a normal man.

That was until he opened his eyes...

Green eyes that reminded me of the greenest grass you'll find on on the spring mountain. After the man had drunk the water. He glanced around the room. His gaze landed on me and I quickly turned around to get his medicine.

"I assume you're the one that saved my life," His voice was calm but deadly, it held power but gentleness.

I stirred the pot of soup and added a few herbs inside it, "You were badly wounded but it wasn't life-threatening. You should be fully healed in a month."

I grabbed a bowl and filled it with some soup, turning to walk back. The man began to move from the bed. I pulled a wooden stick from the table and flung it at him. Instead of it hitting his arms. He had swiftly caught it between his forefingers.

"Miss, are you trying to kill me?" This man had a nervous smile on his face.

"If I wanted to kill you, would I have saved you?" I calmly asked, setting the soup on the table next to him.

His eyes curiously glanced at the soup and then at the stick that he twirled in his fingers.

"Okay, you got me there... Thank you for saving my life miss..." he replied bowing his head.

I waved my hand not needing the formality, "My name is Evelyn, everyone here just calls me Eve."

...yeah just Evelyn... there was no last name...

"My name is Cassius, it's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance. This is?" he pointed to the soup.

"It will help you to get your strength back, there's also medicine mixed in it and there's plenty more for you to recover all of your strength," I replied and picked up a bag of clothes that needed to be sewn.

"I will return later to check on you. In the meantime, you should get some more rest... if you're bored... you can read some books if it will interest you." I shrugged, "But you need to rest and take your medication."

I quickly picked up his bloody clothes, "these will be washed and then be given back to you. and yes I did change your outer robe-"

Cassius grabbed my wrist, "Calm down Evelyn, I understand. But please don't push yourself too hard because I'm here, you also look tired as well... have you not been getting enough rest?"

Did I not hide it well?

I glanced at him and then at his hand that held my wrist. He quickly released my hand and bowed his head, "I'm sorry for startling you."

I shook my head, "It's okay... It's a doctor's job to make sure her patients are taken care of first. Their health before our own. And I'm not tired at all."

Cassius' eyes only exhibited disbelief, he touched the bandages and gazed away. He was a strange man. Normally I wouldn't get such a gentleman coming to this place. All the other men in the village just wanted to get under one's skirt or in pants.

I quickly went out to the barn where I had my sewing kit there waiting for me.

It was really hard to find someone that was kind but dangerous. That was loving but fierce.

I don't think I'll ever find someone like that... All the other girls just wanted to have sex all day like horny beasts in heat.

Or maybe I'm like this cause I'm sexually frustrated. Sighing, I gathered some materials and began sewing the cloths together to form a dress.

"Hey, Evelyn!" I perked up at the bright voice to find Erica walking along with Mandy. Erica was wearing a long beige dress. Her brown hair was tied to a high bun. While Mandy wore a brown knee-length dress, her blonde hair blowing in the wind.

Erica was a nice person compared to Mandy who just loved to spread her legs every night, "Erica! Mandy... what brings you this side?" I forced a smile at them.

"You've been cooped up here for so many days. The girls and I wanted to know if you want to come with us to hit a few rounds with them."

Ah, of course, they wanted to try and get me drunk again so I could hook up with Lester, "I have a patient that needs me and I still have a lot of work to do. Maybe next time."

Erica pouted and whined, "That's too bad... Anyway, have you heard about the rumors that have been going around about the werewolf king?" They both sat down on the chairs I laid out for them. I paused my sewing and listened to what they had to say.

"Werewolf King?" I asked bewildered about the being news of such a king.

And a king of wolves?

"What rumors have there been going around?" I asked her.

"Oh, Evelyn! You've been cooped up here and you haven't heard?! Well, this werewolf king has been going to every village and massacring the folks there in search of his bride."

Unconsciously the needle that I held in my hand had pierced my finger and only when the blood had begun to seep did I realize that I had hurt myself.

But a person that began slaughtering innocent villages for a single person was ridiculous.
