Team 3- Smooth mission HAPPY READING!

"When we said no casualties, we actually meant no casualties!"

.....

"Acceptable. Thankfully, all communications have been disabled, upper classed ones are being rerouted, hence, the mission is intact for now. The next phase will preserve the entire mission."

The transmission was ended immediately after the final statement. The individual who was on the call, suddenly turned his head behind himself to meet the expectant faces of the scouts behind him.

Major as he was usually called, was following and reviewing the entire mission of the scouts sent to the control center.

Thankfully, all communications had been either disabled or rerouted, base to base, sectors to sectors, air communications and everything in between. Sooner or later, the communications failure would be detected by rebel forces, due to sabotage of major military operations as a result of the scouts previous mission. That was where team three assigned to power unit came in.

Regardless of whether the rebel forces found out about the fails in communication or not, sabotaging the main power unit of the military headquarters, would completely disorient the force.

_____

The scouts already briefed of this, began their stealthy march towards the power unit. Out they went from the figure head perched majestically in the sky, and began to make their way towards ground level. Engaging parachute within range, all scouts safely landed on the ground.

The environment was dry and dusty, very identical to where the previous mission has taken place. Meters away was a thick wired net functioning as an entrance to the power unit. The same rounded the entire unit, defining it's land boundary.

"Something's definitely off here" Major commented on noticing the lax security of the power unit.

The scouts all geared up from head to toe with tip graded military equipments were boldly approaching the entrance to the power unit without any form of hesitation. Two scouts carried a black rectangular box which had been let down from the figure head moments ago, by both ends.

"Now that communications have been sabotaged.." Major explained, "We no longer have to worry about rebels calling I'm for reinforcements. It's now us versus the forces here."

The tech analyst in the figure head above ground proceeded to warn. "Though the mission would be more faster taking a head on approach, it would be more safer to take a more quieter approach. I'll make sure to give you proper guide through the mission."

"Once inside, be on high alert." He added.

_____

"Amran! Academy! Academy!"

The border patrol at the top of one of the two watch towers situated at both sides of the entrance had sighted ten individuals all garbed in black approaching the entrance with killing intent.

"Academy!" the rebel patrol officer shouted again with strong Russian accent.

His scream caught the attention of the rebel patrols on the ground who at this point, could see nothing.

Ngh

All attention turned the gates and to the watch towers. A grunt was heard in low volume causing the border patrol on the ground to be on alert.

"Base to bird..base to bird.."

A rebel patrol officer on the ground repeatedly tried calling out to the officer on the watch tower using a portable radio transceiver, but there was no response no matter how hard he tried.

It was at that moment that the patrol team knew something had gone terribly wrong. But it was too late.

Ugh

The officer known as Amran who decided to use the heap of damaged iron placed at a corner of the entrance as a bench, suddenly went limp, and fell down, dead.

"Ugh" That was the last sound he made before his inevitable death.

The rebel patrol officer who just witnessed this was shaken back to reality as he gave commands to the rest of the team around him.

"Coordinate! Academy!"

Most unfortunately, his words were in vain, as one by one, each member of the patrol team went down.

"Intruder alert! Intruder alert!"

The patrol officer changed tactic, as he attempted contacting other military bases in the unit."

"Intruder alert! I REPEAT! INTRUDER ALERT!"

The scream of the patrol officer became louder as he backed away from the entrance, witnessing his companions fall one after the order, despite best efforts to get away and regroup.

"Intrud.."

The patrol officer immediately stopped. For some reason, his transceiver was failing him in this very precarious situation.

He switched equipment, but suddenly realizing that none of the transceivers were working. Not the one he was using, neither the one his companions had. He was becoming frantic, and as bad as the situation looked, oddly, no one saw or uttered anything before falling. Neither did anyone alive do or try to, except to speak to dead transceivers.

In one final desperate attempt, the patrol officer looked at all his fallen comrades and uttered final sentence to his equipment.

"Screw you"

"Don't blame the poor thing" A voice replied in a silent whisper before....

_____

The scouts were quickly advancing towards the entrance of the unit, taking the head on initiative.

Only about a hundred and eighty yards remained between them and the entrance.

Major who was at the front the whole time, immediately raised up his clenched fist signalling for the rest of the team to stop. Opening up the fist and throwing it into the direction opposite him, half of the total scouts parted and followed that direction.

"James, I need to know what's beyond." Major said addressing the mission guide.

James who was following closely replied almost immediately.

"On the line" came the reply moments after Major had made his request.

"I need to know what's beyond us" Major repeated.

"Roger. A hundred and eighty five yards remains between you and the entrance. It's a wired-net bound circling about three hundred and forty metres stretch... There are two tower guards situated just before the entrance. A number of similar presences are behind the bounds stretched about by a small margin."

The guide paused for a while before adding.

"If you could get closer, I would be able to give you proper overview of the area."

"There's no need" Major interjected. Activating the visual display on his head gear, the captain attempted to make out the energy readings before him.

"I'll need fire power from the ship." Major said, referring to the figure head above.

"Whatever you say."

"To avoid drawing attention to ourselves," Major continued, "We'll need a clear passage once we're near the entrance."

"Roger" Came the reply, as the figure head set it's weapon target on every member of the patrol team behind the bounds.

______

All twenty scouts were regrouping behind the bounds of the unit, assigning the proper gear for the next phase of the mission. Around them were several bodies all belonging to members of the rebel patrol team sprawled out on the ground.

Two scouts who were carrying a black large rectangular box moved in the middle of the group arranged in a 5,4,2,4,5 formation, as they all marched towards the power unit.

"You're now approaching the main unit." The guide said. "The unit runs a rather unusual method of power supply. Power is being supplied through underground power lines. Up ahead, is the main unit. It's bounded by metallic frames, and there's only one entrance, guarded by a number of guards. In the unit towards the borders at the end are the powers plants. However, the mains are being housed in a tower, godlike in height. The power lines are beneath them."

Major, the captain, looking steadfastly in to the distance replied.

"It means we can't enter from the front, which is the only entrance. Right?"

"That's right." The guide replied. "The best course of action would be for you to secure the main entrance as supplies are on their way to the unit, reasons unknown. While the ship makes her way to the tower. Scouts would be released from there."

"Captain!" A voice rang out.

A member of the team called out to the attention of the captain who was preoccupied with his head gear.

"Captain! Sensors are picking up huge power activity over here" he said.

The captain hurried over to the scout who was some yards away from the rest of the group. Using the artificially intelligent sensors, the power activity readings generated from the site before him, were seen in the helmet's visual display.

"Unbelievable!"

The captain still in slight doubt made to remove an object from his utility pouch. It was a small advanced electroscope.

The look on the Captain's face said it all.

"You said there was an underground power unit, didn't you?" Major asked, addressing James who was all ears.

"Yes?"

The captain began to move backwards, as he removed an already loaded handgun similar to a G9111 from his side, cocked it, aimed it at the ground site in front of him and pulled the trigger.

"It would seem so" said the captain with a tone of finality, as the reverberation of the bullet proved the fact that there was indeed something hard on the ground.

The captain squatted on the ground, running his hand across the hard, sandy surface, until his hand came across a hard object. Pulling it up vehemently, a creaking noise was heard.

"Help me out here" the captain yelled.

More scouts joined to pull up the object which turned out to be a handle, attached to something.

One more pull, and a large circular outline could be seen, slowly emerging from the ground, pulling sand underneath it.

"It turns out, there is another entrance" a scout commented.

The circular object which had just been pulled off from the ground, turned out to be the top of an entrance to a bunker.

"You didn't happen to know that there was a bunker around here, did you?" the captain rhetorically asked.

"We're going in!" he said. "Whatever's down there will lead to the power lines."

Delegating some number of scouts to stay above, the captain and a number of others descended down into the bunker via the ladder available.

______

(Tap, tap)

Couple of feet landed on the ground consecutively as water splashed about when each pair of feet landed.

Quietly, and in a hushed tone, the captain issued commands.

"Watch your feet, keep off the walls and stay in ranks."

The bunker was dimly lit, small amount of water on the ground splashing on every impact a foot made with the ground. Every impact with the ground reverberated an echoing noise, as a result, the group endeavoured to make light and slow steps.

With more steps counting, the bunker became slightly brighter and brighter, and more electric activity being recorded.

More steps ahead, the light had become illuminating enough for the scouts to see the place they were in more clearly.

The sight of where they were was quite shocking, but more so, was the sight in front of them.
