She looked at me a little shocked to see me there.
"These are your seats madam please enjoy your stay" the waiter insisted. My mother and I sat down as instructed. I'm still confused at the fact why alana is sitting in front of me.
"I assume that your son has met my daughter before?"the tall intimidating man asked my mom.
"Oh I don't know he doesn't keep me in his school life, do you know her hun?'' She smiled and looked at me.
"Yeah we go to school together."
My mom started to laugh a little,"what a small world we live in. Oh and my apologies Mr. Chavez but my husband won't be joining us today he got busy at work and unfortunately couldn't make it. But my son is here to take over his absence and soon be taking over the company."
I could tell she was getting nervous because when she's nervous she talks a lot and her ears twitch every now and then.
"Is that right? You will be taking over your parents' company?" He was looking towards me now. His intimidating voice scared me a little and my ears raised up.
"Yes sir I intend to do so to honor my family name." I just said what I thought he would like for me to say. I didn't want to mess this up for my parents.
"Good! You will make a fine business man and I'm looking forward to working with you." he said with a slight smile. He looked at my mom and started talking about the business and finances, you know stuff like that. I think I wasn't really paying attention. I just sat there sitting up straight and quietly pretending I was listening to their conversation.
I happened to look over at Alana and she was staring at me. Well not exactly at me, but she was staring at my ears. She was staring as if she had never seen a wolf before.
"Hey, you okay?" I gave her a soft smile.
"Oh i'm sorry I didn't mean to stare but I've never seen your ears before." she said while still looking at them. "Why do you hide them?"
"Well I'm just scared of rejection you know. Some people are scared of wolves and some people can't stand wolves. I want people to see me for who I am and not just my ranking."
"So do I...."She said under her breath looking down.
"Hey if that's what you feel comfortable with then so be it, don't let anyone tell you what to do." I smiled. "I know I must sound like a hypocrite though because my mom told me to show my ears and tail but still don't let people tell you what to do." We started laughing.
"Let me guess she also made you wear that suit too?" She started laughing even harder.
"Yeah she did" I chuckled.
"But I won't lie, your mother has good taste and knows what looks good on you." She smiled and looked me in the eye's.
