The Richman (Book 2 )- Unexpected Disaster

(Adrianna POV)

I chatted for a long time with Dady there. More or less I picked up the news about Leah and Ben from him. But it seemed that Leah and Ben were good enough at acting in front of Daddy that Dad didn't feel there was anything strange between them.

"What about Ben and Leah?" I asked.

Dad's face was about thinking, "I don't sure about the real condition, but I feel that Leah hide something in front of me. She pretends that everything is OK." He answered.

"Is it about children?" I guessed.

"I think so. But they are enough adults so they can make a decision for themselves." Dad replied.

"I agreed dad," I said.

I also made time for lunch with Ben and Leah at his house, chatting about a lot of things but obviously I avoid talking about kids, we talked more about things like vacation plans with the family and stuff, but Leah didn't seem enthusiastic either.

"How about we take a vacation on George's school holidays, what do you think Leah?" I asked and Leah just smiled.

"That is a good idea," Leah answered normatively.

I shifted another topic to the current political issue, the presidential election and it seemed they were more enthusiastic about discussing it than the holidays, until it was almost time for George to come home from school.

"I have to go," I remembered that it was almost time to pick up George. I excused myself and gave Ben and Leah a quick hug and he hugged me back.

They answered together after I got into the car and they waved at me. "Take care."

My car left Ben and Leah's yard, I drove myself to George's school. On the way I saw an Icecream shop. I thought my little prince would like it, so I stopped by the shop to buy Chocolate Icecream.

So I stopped by the ice cream shop to buy a surprise for George. She hasn't eaten ice cream in a long time because we promised she only eats ice cream and chocolate once a week to keep her teeth healthy. I was in the queue, I don't know how long it was, but I think there were still five or six people ahead of me. While I was waiting for my change, my phone vibrated.

While I was waiting in line for ice cream suddenly my phone vibrated, "Hello." Somebody said hello from the other side, and it's not Javier.

"Hello," I answered, oddly what I heard on the other end was not Javier's voice, but a woman's voice.

"Sorry, I called you. Your cell phone number is the last contact number this person called."

"Sorry, who are you?" I asked confused.

"I am Vanesha, this man was in an accident and is currently in the hospital. Can you come?" She asked.

"How was his condition?" I tried to find out bout his condition first before I decide to go there or not.

"He's unconscious with so much blood here. We already call 911." She answered.

"I can't help you." I rejected.

"But I don't know his relation other than you, mam. Would you consider coming? I'll share the location."

"Ok Thanks." I agreed at the eind because there was no other choice, though Javier is a nobody to me now but hearing the news that he had an accident and no one to contact, at least I can see his condition first.

I decided to get out of the queue and head to the hospital whose address Vanesha mentioned earlier. While driving to the hospital, I texted Emily to ask George to stay with her while I was a bit late to pick up my son.

After receiving information about the location of the incident, I immediately headed there. By riding my vehicle and pressing the gas pedal deep to increase my speed, I quickly found out where the location of the accident was.

However, what I found was not an accident site but a shopping area, more precisely a shopping parking area near a coffee shop. I got out of my car after parking my car there.

My eyes widened when I found Javier was fine, he was standing with a bunch of flowers and an ice cream corn in his hand right in one of the parking lots of the hospital I was going to. I opened the car door and froze at him.

"Sorry to start you." He smiled, came to me and handed me the flower but I didn't accept it.

"Javier is not funny," I said annoyed.

"Ice cream." he offered me ice cream and I refused, I intend to go back into the car and immediately pick up my son.

"No Thanks. I don't have time for such a joke like this. I'm not a kid anymore. Don't be ridiculous and play me like this."

Javier tried to stop me. "Wait, . . . where are you going?"

"I want to go to my son's school. I'm already late to pick him up because of your un-fanny jokes." I really mad at him.

"If you're going to Emily's school, can I come with you?" He asked, "Please, I need a ride." He asked me.

"Go in your own car!" I snapped at him and quickly got into my car.

I turned the wheel to the maximum before I stepped on the gas deeply and my car accelerated, I was really stupid for believing in Vanesha, I don't know who that woman was but this really made me feel bad for George. Ignoring him for a joke that wasn't funny at all clearly made me feel so bad for my son. He must be waiting for me there.

***

I'm on my way to my son's school and I think I'm about fifteen minutes late. But luckily Emily had answered my message by agreeing to look after George for a while until I arrived.

I quickly found a parking space, but when I got out of the car I suddenly had a bad feeling, I saw a lot of cars parked. Some looked like police cars and some ambulances, also some people were crowding around in tears. I tried to approach the crowd even though my feet suddenly felt like jelly. I dragged my steps closer and my eyes widened when I found a police line posted at the entrance area of my son's school building.

I quickly dashed into the crowd, leaving Javier behind me. I'm trying to figure out what's going on in this place.

"What's going on Mrs. Parker?" I asked a woman who was standing leaning against the wall, her body seemed to be shaking from crying.

"Disaster." He whispered.

WHAT? WHAT HAPPENED?
