Though Ryan did not fully trust the woman, what she said wasn’t all that different from his own status screen.
So he decided to give her the benefit of doubt and take her word for it.
Putting this matter aside, there was still the issue of his special different colored screen and the special quests he was receiving.
“Is this the only thing you are seeing or are there any other pop-ups?” Ryan probed.
“Ah. No. I don’t think so.” Lily answered, but she did not look too sure as she said so.
Ryan assumed that she probably did not know too much or was too nervous to give him a proper answer right now. So he decided to circle back to this later.
“Alright. You should stay here. I will be back in a bit.” He let out a deep breath and prepared to step out again.
He still needed 3 more goblin kills to finish his quest and he was determined to get it no matter what.
It might be a bit risky to step out in the open in the middle of chaos like this, but the reward for the quest completion was just that insane.
A contract with a lesser demon!
What was a demon?
No one has ever seen a creature like that up until now.
But if it was anything at least as powerful as these green-skinned goblins, then he would have an extra backup when he was facing the unknown future.
Something told Ryan that this was just the beginning of things so he did not plan to let this opportunity pass by.
He took a few deep breaths steeling his nerves and then prepared to go out.
“Ah.. Ryan… what… what are you doing?” Seeing his actions, Lily started panicking.
“Stay here. I will be back.” He did not bother giving her any further explanation and cautiously walked out of the restroom.
Why was he going out at a time like this? Lily was utterly dumbfounded.
She did not know if she should get up and run behind him to follow him but her legs did not move even if she wanted to.
So she silently stayed back staring at his disappearing figure.
Ryan stepped out and looked around the restroom.
At first glance, it looked like the chaos had died down a bit, but the shrill agonized cries of someone getting slaughtered still rang loudly every other second.
“Something is definitely there.”
He gulped and clenched his knife tighter as he started walking towards the stores on his right, where the wailing sound was coming from.
Ryan was so nervous that he was sweating profusely. He did not even know if he wanted it to be a goblin or just a zombie.
As much as he wanted to make progress in his quest, the creature was simply too frightening.
But he knew that he had no other choice but to keep going so he willed his body to stay calm and move.
Graaa! Graaa! Graaa!
The noises slowly became louder as Ryan moved closer and just as he expected a couple of people who were probably hiding somewhere got caught.
They were struggling against two zombies, only the man doing all the work holding back the zombies with some kind of metal stick.
The woman was standing beside him shivering.
Seeing that Ryan let out a deep breath and reminded himself to not be scared.
“Tch. Tch. What the hell am I waiting for?” He wiped his mouth and dashed towards the two zombies with the full speed that he could muster.
Leaving alone the one at the front, he only engaged the zombie at the back and slashed at the being that was just minutes ago a normal human being.
The zombie was a burly man so Ryan knew that he only had one chance to maim and destroy it by directly targeting the head.
While the creature was still continuing to snarl at the prey in front of it, he came from behind and stabbed its head repeatedly.

Ryan then aimed for the next zombie and stabbed it similarly.
The two people stuck fighting the creatures stared at him as if he was also a monster and took a step back in fear.
“How is he this strong?” The man muttered in shock.
“By actually fighting and killing these things.” Ryan spat out. The second zombie as well dropped dead.

It was now easier for him to fight with these creatures.
Their attack pattern wasn’t complicated, and his own movements were becoming smoother with each kill. This gave him more confidence.
Hyyaaaa! Ryan gripped the knife, trying to remove it from the zombie.
He did not want to waste time. He needed to keep going and find more targets to improve his condition.
However, it looked like the knife was really stuck, deep in the zombie’s skull, and was not coming out.
Just as he was grunting and using his leg to stamp down the zombie and pull out the knife, another sound came from behind him.
Ryan turned around to look, only to freeze the next instant. Staring at him, standing in front of the store, was not one, not two, but three goblins!
