Chapter 12

Yoshi was worried, mostly by what Mago had said. Mago knew HIsoki better than any of them combined, so if he said that Hisoki was bad, then he was bad. But if Hisoki was so bad, then why was he doing so good? "Your smiling." Wafi says, stealing Yoshi's glance for a second, before he looked back at Hisoki. Yoshi shrugs. "Why shouldn't I be smiling? Hisoki's finally winning."

Hisoki passes the ball to Harley, the boy dribbling it, before running to his side of the court. Hisoki ran after him, running past him and going under the hoop. If Harley wins, then he will never see Hisoki again. Yoshi was biting his lip, watching Harley take the shot.

He misses.

Hisoki grabs the bag, running to the other side of the court and shooting, the ball going straight through the hoop.

Kai hits him lightly. "Stop doing that, your going to break the skin and start bleeding." Kai warns, his eyes still on the game. Kai had always knew he had a habit of doing that in stressful situations. He nods, wiping his lip.

"You're getting sloopy." Hisoki warns, passing the ball to Harley, who scoffs. It wasn't in a teasing manner, instead he was calm. "I wanted you to catch up to me." Harley says, bouncing the ball. Yoshi looked around, everyone was focused on the game. Kai was leaning out of his seat, Wafi was tapping his foot, and Baker's book had been forgotten. He looked around, where was Mago?

Harley instantly starts running, dribbling the ball beside him as he runs towards the court. Hisoki, however, seemed to expect this, running after him and quickly stealing the ball. "Come on…." Kai mumbles, as Hisoki runs over to the ball. Harley ran after, and Yoshi could tell. He wasted all his stamina in the first half of the game, he was tired. Hisoki shot the ball right as Harley tackled him to the ground.

Mago calmly walks into the gym, already knowing who won. He watches as a ball enters the hoop, and looks towards the ground. Harley was on top of Hisoki, holding the professor's hands down to the floor. What the hell is happening?

Baker and Kai both ran up to the two, pulling Harley off of Hisoki. "Bro, what the hell! Chill!" Kai yelled, as Baker helped Hisoki up. Mago just started from the entrance of the gym. He looked up at the scoreboard.

Assuming is never good, but Mago will guess that Hisoki won. He walked up as Yoshi and Wafi stepped down from the bleachers. "You fucking- you cheated! I know you did!" Harley yelled, but Hisoki calmly looked towards him. "If you lose, at anything, you shouldn't instantly think the other is cheating." Hisoki says calmly. He was always so calm, even in crazy situations like this. Harley huffed, glaring at him. "Let me go!" Kai did, letting go of Harley's arm that he was using to pull him back.

His eyes went to Mago, who looked back at him. "What the hell just happened?" Yoshi asked, quickly looking towards Hisoki. "Are you ok?" He asked. Hisoki smiles towards him, and nods. "Yeah, I'm fine." Mago listened to their conversation quietly, but his eyes were on Harley. Why was he looking at Mago? "Let's talk." He mutters, walking up to Mago and grabbing his arm, pulling him out of the gym. "What is up with you and talking? What is it?" Mago asked, annoyed as to what Harley did. Harley pulls him into a corner, facing him. "If this is something stubid, then I don't want to-"

"I know about the essay you're writing. About Hisoki. I heard you two talk."

Mago abruptly stops talking, staring at Harley. He wasn't mad that Harley knew, as long as he didn't know what he was writing about. "Ok, and?" He asks sarcastically. Harley, still out of breath from the match, smirks. "We both want something. You want answers, and he won't give it to you. I want to show the terrible teacher that he really is." Mago sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose and shutting his eyes. "All we have to do is steal his bag."

"Hell no. We're not going to do that. That's illegal, and fucked up . And, why the hell would I help someone who just tackled my own fucking friend? What sense does that make?" Harley sighs, bouncing on his feet. "If he finds out, I'll take the blame. I promise. You want answers, right? And I have a feeling that bag has some. Just help me." Harley whispered, stepping closer to him. "You've been working on that essay for two years now, Mago. This could be your chance to-"

"Fine. I'll help. But I'm only going to help if you put everything back. We aren't going to take his bag, just look through it. During lunch tomorrow. He always leaves during that time." Mago says grimly. He knew what he was doing was messed up, but he needed answers. Harley smiles and nods, ugh he really did hate highschoolers. "That's fine, I'm ok with that." Mago nods towards Harley, before walking back towards the gym.

"You better hope I don't regret this."

____

"Where were you, it was like you disappeared during the game." Wafi asked, turning to Mago as he walked into the building. The tanned boy shrugged. "I knew he was going to win. I just wanted to mess with you guys." He said calmly, crossing his arms. Hisoki turns to him. "You told them I wouldn't win?" Hisoki asked, eyebrow raised. Mago smiled at him, shaking his head. "No, I just said you were absolutely terrible." Hisoki gave him a knowing look. Why would Mago say something like that.

"Sorry. It was mean, not gonna lie. My bad." Mago says, though Hisoki could see through it. "Mago…" He had known the boy since his ninth grade year. Mago has always had a hard shell, even though he was really caring, he could be mean. "Ok, ok. I know, I'll stop. But I must say, that losing streak was dramatic of you." Yoshi looked at him, his eyes wide. Hisoki didn't think he would notice. "Wait, so you almost lost on purpose!?" Yoshi asked, seemingly hurt and shocked. Hisoki frowned.

"Sorry about that. I didn't want to hurt the boy's ego too much." He said, shrugging. Wafi leaned on Hisoki's shoulder, facing Mago. "Where did the attacker go?" He asked sarcastically, Hisoki rolling his eyes. He felt like a student as much as a teacher. "He went off. He was really pissed." Mago says calmly. Hisoki. Hisoki felt bad, he shouldn't have agreed to play such a childish game. He shrugged Wafi's arm off. "He'll be fine. I'll let him have the day off." He says, stepping away from the group. He frowned towards the group, nodding his head before walking out of the gym and towards the classroom.

He felt bad for doing any of this.
