Chapter 11: Shit!!

After 5 minutes of jumping and dashing left and right trying to adjust to his new speed, even more, Ray then stopped. Running was fun to some extent but he needed to continue what he was there for in the first place.

"Scan" And a red yet slightly transparent circle appeared around him and started expanding at an alarming speed until it reached a nearly 60 km radius around him. Now, compared to Flora his scan skill was totally different. They have the same name and the same way of chanting but the way the user apply's his use of mana and the way he learned the spell make them unalike.

In Flora's case, she just feels her surroundings in her mind, but using that spell for a long time will exhaust her and this makes this spell not that fitting for combat. As for Ray's case, he learned it when he was still in the holy kingdom so naturally, it will be of the highest quality. Instead of seeing everything in his mind, he makes a circle of mana that expands as much as his mana allowed and it just connects him with his surroundings, basically making him 'feel' instead of 'see'.

"This amazing! My scan spell is incomparable to before!... Aaaand, I found it. This place is perfect." he muttered happily and then moved south to a wide area hidden between the trees. The place in itself was nothing worthy of mentioning but it will prove to be useful for the experiments Ray will do.

"This place is acceptable, brat. Now let's get down to real business." Said The grimoire with an excited voice. Then he added " Before anything you need to know some basics before you fuck us up in the future. As my name implies, I'm not the only one of my kind out there. There is seven more that are scattered around the world, some that have hosts while others are waiting for a worthy user that will make full use of their power. These seven grimoires have different powers. As for me, my power is.....Blood."

"Blood?"

"Yeah brat, blood. Do you know that red liquid that runs in your body? It's called blood."

"I know what blood is! It's just that I was surprised." Replied Ray angrily.

"Anyways, I make my user be able to control blood. Instead of wasting precious time talking I will show you first hand. Cut your finger open." Ordered The grimoire.

To which Ray complied without complaining much, He placed his thumb in his mouth before slightly biting it. With a small sting like pain in his finger, a red droplet of blood appeared and threatened to fall from his thumb.

"Now, I will send the spell directly to your brain so you will learn it instantly. Be grateful kid, many people would've killed just to learn one of my spells and you're here getting basically for free."

"Whatever, just do it and stop the nonsense," said Ray exasperated.

"Tch...You asked for it. Oh yeah, one more thing. it will hurt...A LOT."

"What ar-...AHHHHHHH shit!" a mind-numbing scream echoed in the forest. The same pain Ray felt in his dream when he fused with the grimoire came backbiting him but this time quite different. He was also feeling his mind getting stacked with new information that his mind didn't find the time to process.

"Y-you.....piece of....ugh shit!!!" He said in between his groans with his teeth gritted trying to suppress his voice. If any monster lurking near hear him, then he's done for. But he couldn't bother with that right now.

"It's nearly over so stop screaming like a little girl."

The pain subsided a few seconds later. Finally, Ray could take a breath of air.

"Do you enjoy seeing your hosts in pain with everything you do?"

"No, but I can say you're my first and it's not fucking bad." replied The grimoire sarcastically. Then he added " Now, you should've already learned your first spell. It's called 'Blood manipulation'. Now try it."

Even though it was very painful, now looking at the spell he learned. Ray was shocked. 'How could there be such a strong spell!' he thought. Not only he could control his blood circulation and shape blood however he want it, but he also can extract the blood from other creatures. But that didn't mean it was perfect, the mana consumption was exorbitant to the point where if he hadn't absorbed the orb the grimoire gave him he would never be able to use this spell.

Secondly, He did indeed learn the spell but learning something theoretically and doing are two different things. So he needs to start from zero.

"Oh, one more thing. I'm not called grimoire. What a fucking stupid name. I'm Sanguis the grimoire of blood." He said proudly as if saying his name to him was like a privilege he bestowed on Ray.

"sigh...Nice to meet you Sanguis. Now can we please start? I prolonged this for way too much."
