Chapter 26: Flora vs The chimera

Seeing her lover disappear she directed her attention to the huge monster that was totally outraged by now.

Flora knew very well that she can't beat it even if she put her life at risk, but that didn't mean she can't keep up with it for a minute or two. Knowing her goal clearly, she brandished her sword and started running again. Instead of getting as far as she could, she tried to get closer.

'I have to make its movement a little bit sluggish' The young girl thought. So she used one of her newest spells. It took her two years to finally learn 'ice manipulation'.

Every person has an affinity with some kind of element, but that doesn't mean they can use it simply like that as it needs the user to have a talent for magic in general. Flora's element is ice. Precisely it's more of a sub-element. There 6 main elements: Air, Fire, Earth, Water, Light and Darkness. But these elements split into many sub-elements and thus we have ice.

Think of it as a tree. The main elements are the main branches and the sub-elements are the smaller branches.

As for 'blood manipulation' it's one of the very few spells that doesn't belong to any main elements or sub-elements. Is there a blood element? Or is it a new mix of elements? No one knows, even Ray.

Flora couldn't do much with ice manipulation as it's still new and she basically couldn't control it properly. But still, she had a whole other idea. Her hand turned, even more, whiter and then she lightly caressed her sword.

The sword that was normal at first changed instantly. A freezing cold aura surrounded the blade along with a snowy white colour. The sword now looked like the manifestation of ice in the world.

'This will be enough.' Even when she was using her spell she had to move all the time. The tentacles were still attacking Flora relentlessly. As one of them closed on her she sang her sword and cut it down elegantly like she was cutting through thin paper.

It was elegant and fast yet very dangerous. The now cut and frozen tentacle stopped its movement. But that wasn't the end of it, the ice started spreading. From just a small part of the tentacle, it ate the whole thing and still moved to the main body. The chimera couldn't shake off this freezing effect.

As the chimera was dealing with its problem, Flora didn't let this opportunity be wasted. She increased her speed cutting through the tens of tentacles.

"Giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!" A shriek of pain and rage from the chimera was all you can hear In this battle. In a few seconds, its whole body was basically covered in ice. A huge disfigured monster was fighting an icy aura that was destroying its body. Quite the unique sight.

But suddenly, the chimaera did something unexpected. It stopped its frantic movement. Its emotionless eyes that lacked humanity started glowing ominously. A mass8ve wave of mana erupted from its body destroying what was left of the village. If there was still anyone who by some godly luck survived at first, this mana wave probably killed that person at this point.

Flora was barely able to cast a barrier to protect herself from the wave. She was still thrown a couple of tens of meters with some minor injuries here and there.

'What a strong attack!' She thought while gritting her beautiful pearly white teeth.

'What is Ray doing? I hope he's okay.'

*************

At the same time, hundreds of meters away from the battlefield. Ray stood motionless with closed eyes. He was in a complete state of concentration. The huge blob of blood wiggled above him.

'Please work.' He thought. Slowly he separated a small portion of blood and then he started doing incomprehensible hand gestures that only Ray can understand. With every move, the small ball of blood changed form: From a ball to a square then to a triangle then to some other shape. Seconds passed, sweat filled Ray's face as he worked on something.

Finally, the newly shaped blood ball was complete. He looked at his work and smiled victoriously. "This should be enough." He muttered while taking deep breaths.

'Let me say..... your ideas scare the shit out of me sometimes, Ray. Even though you're still a fucking idiot.' Said Sanguis with a weirdly scared voice.

"Hahaha. Just shut up and enjoy the show...Mister Grimoire of blood." Said Ray sarcastically with an amused smile.
