Chapter 35: Getting to know the quirky book (Part 2)

"Ok, my last question...Who was that man, and why was he so strong?" Asked Flora after deep thought.

"Hmm.Marilas? He's the brat of one of my previous hosts. He was a stinky piece of shit who stuck to his dad like a bug. As for his father, he was a fanatic who wanted to ascend to the holy kingdom and rule the Lower realms as the new king of a new empire." Answered Snaguis with a slight annoyance in his deep, hoarse voice. Nothing was detailed, and that added more questions. Why did he want to do that? Who is this father? Yet Sanguis didn't even want to add any details to his story.

It was clear what feelings he harboured for Marilas and his father. But what they didn't understand is what is Sanguis's goal. They knew that Ray could be his key towards his goal, yet they didn't know what he really thrived for. Was this man that Sanguis used before a good candidate, or was he just a lucky try that came to the grimoire.

Was it power? Or maybe finding something important to him? or even changing himself? No one knows, and even when Ray asked him, he just laughed it off with a 'You're still too weak to know', Which is really annoying for Ray.

"Now. Enough of the questions... My nap was ruined because of you two and the other fucker. So let me have some sleep now, and DON'T FUCKING WAKE ME UP." Sanguis Emphasised his last words and made them loud and clear.

Then he flew inside Ray's body like it was nothing and disappeared completely as if he was over there. 'What a quirky book.' Both of them thought at the same time.

"I think we should go. We can't deal with this cult for now. But I'm sure we're going to crossroads with them again. Until that happens, we should get even more stronger...Stronger than anyone else!" Ray's Shined with a weird light as he looked at Flora.

Before he met Marilas, Ray was confident in his strength and capabilities, and he even dared to believe that not many people could beat him with how strong he became. His arrogant beliefs got shattered into million pieces when he met this weird man. He humiliated him and destroyed all of his ideas of this world's strength.

But that didn't make him lose hope, but he actually felt more motivated to get stronger and stronger. Such a mentality was something worthy of praise and admiration.

As much as Ray wanted power as fast as possible, he knew that it comes with time and hard work, and the only thing he had to do was continue to walk steadily and not diverge from his goal.

Flora widened her eyes slightly and then smiled sweetly before nodding. She also shared the same feelings Ray had and wanted to get stronger. Not just for her sake but also for the sake of the boy who stood in front of her. The desire to help him was overwhelming her mind, and she could only want to make him smile even more and lift the burdens off his back so he could soar freely and live his life far from pain and suffering. It was her dream and the most thing she wanted in her life. Her eyes followed his silhouetted dazedly, and her mind wandered to another place. But of course, she couldn't say that to him, or she will die of embarrassment.

Suddenly, Ray's voice woke her from her deep thoughts.

"Now, we need to go. We have a long journey to continue." Ray turned around and started walking. Flora jogged to reach his side, and they left the forest.

They learned a lot from this experience, and even if they didn't feel it, they grew a lot personality-wise and even strength-wise. They will come to know that this was a fate changing moment in their lives and one of the critical moments that shaped their future for years to come. But that is a story for another time.

After meeting his nemesis, Marilas returned to his throne and sat down. His face lacked any kind of ridicule and arrogance he had when he was talking to Snaguis. In fact, his face had a serious look on it that could make anyone shudder with fear.

'How is that possible?' His mind worked like a machine. 'How did my punch not kill him?' Marilas bit on his nails aggressively because of anger and frustration of Ray.

'I punched him with 90% of my power. Yet, it only broke a few of his ribs. What a monstrous strength!' He looked at his fist with a frown.

At first, Marilas intended to kill Ray and Flora in one punch without talking to Sanguis. Yet, when he punched him and sent him flying, the boy didn't die but actually stayed alive with nothing but a few broken bones and scratches.

So to not make himself lose face in front of his most hated enemy, he had to change his plan. The only thing he could think of was to make it sound like he intended to spare Ray. It also will show his arrogance and domineering character even more.

Luckily, Sanguis didn't catch on to that and thought Marilas was actually toying with Ray. But even then, the humiliation he felt made him go insane with anger.

'A child? Will become stronger than me? IMPOSSIBLE! I will make sure to kill him! No one dares to be stronger than me except for my father!' Marilas then smiled wickedly as a plan was shaping itself in his mind. The weird grin grew with every passing second until it became a string of chuckles.

His laughs didn't resemble laughs but were more of wicked cries of some monster that echoed in the throne room.

The veils closed on the first hardship Ray met. Yet it opened the door for another dangerous confrontation between these two.

Who will come out as the victor? The massacre of the bloody moon could only start these questions but never answer them.
