The tragedy that changed a life (part 01)

- Flashback -

"Grandma, grandma, tell me a bedtime story please?" I did my best to look pitiful in front of my grandmother, she knew me very well and knew I could be a great actress in those moments.

"*laughs* You little devil, don't show me those eyes, don't you think you're too old to hear bedtime stories?" As I said, my grandmother knew me so well that I couldn't put my divine arts into practice in front of her.

"I'm only 16, I'm at the peak of my life, I need to enjoy it, right?" I batted my long eyelashes as I looked at her like I was trying to be convincing.

"Elora, my dear granddaughter, when did that brat who was always asking for affection became so daring!?" My grandmother really had thick skin, she had the courage to send the spell and the poor man looks at me.

* Laughs laughs laughs *

My grandmother and I burst out laughing, our life was always like this, light and relaxed, I loved being by her side.

"*smile* You say I'm sassy, but you don't realize who I pulled." I said with a smirk.

"You brat, I know you learned this from me, no need to rub it in my face!"

"Alright grandma, my birthday is coming up…what do I get?"

"What you want?"

"Nothing in particular..."

"He is sure?"

"Yes I just want to be with you that day"

"Whatever, but don't worry, I'll make a nice gift for you"

"*smile* Then I'll be waiting; I'll buy the things you asked for"

"Of course, but be careful!"

"I will have"

I kissed her on the cheek and went out to buy the groceries she had ordered, it was another normal day, my grandmother and I lived alone, I had no parents and I didn't have the heart to ask her about it. I once caught her looking at a photo, possibly of my mother, with a sad expression in her eyes, it was the first time I've seen her like that, since then I've never thought to bring it up again.

I soon arrived at the market near the hill where we lived and bought what we needed, it didn't take long and I returned home, I didn't want to leave my grandmother alone for too long, she was already an elderly lady and it was not good to be alone at home.

Just before I got back, the sun started to set, the sky was a reddish pink, it was quite a sight, I turned west and saw the sun disappear over the horizon, not long after, the moon, magnificent as ever, pointed towards the night sky along with the stars illuminating the sky.

I turned around and walked up the hill again and saw the simple house we used to live in, it was wooden and a little old but it was still our haven where we spent our time together and the gods just know how much I wanted to spend each of my days like this, at peace with her by my side.
