The Lady of the Witches

"Sure, why not" I agreed and followed him to the office, whatever Renan Mordha wants, I'll have to listen to him.


The teachers each had their own room which served them as an office, where it was more convenient to have a private conversation.


"Please, si down, would you like some tea?" He asked politely after we entered.


Sitting and waiting for him to tell me what he wanted, I was silent as I watched him and he did the same.


Renan was already a middle-aged man and Brayan looked a lot like him, be it his skin tone, hair or eyes.


I continued to stare at him until he finally broke the silence. "Considering that you are the next Matriarch of the Aires family, I believe you have already realized the true purpose of this year's competition, right?"


I smiled slightly as I replied with politeness in my voice but not an ounce of reverence for the figure in front of me. "Of course, only the unsuspecting would not understand your intentions"


A hint of a smile appeared in his eyes as he continued. "So I assume you know what's about to happen?"


"That depends on your vision of what could happen"


"Oh, why do you think that? To me, this is just a bunch of hooligans wanting to stage a coup d'état causing a war"


"This matter may be more complicated than it appears ex-Emperor Renan Mordha"


He continued to stare at me with that piercing gaze before asking me another question. "Why can this be more than meets the eye, Elora?"


"I still can't give you all the information I have, as much as you are an authority figure, the only thing I can tell you is that 'they' are not just planning a simple coup d'état, they want a revolution and believe me, your means to achieve this feat will not be any good"


The room was silent after my words and Renan seemed to think deeply about them but, before he could have a chance to ask another question I stood up and with a slight smile, as if nothing had happened, I said. "Now if you'll excuse me, my friends are still waiting for me and I shouldn't be late any longer"


I walked lightly to the door and as soon as I touched the handle, without looking back, I completed, my voice getting colder and colder. "But you don't have to worry, this matter doesn't just involve you, when the time comes and if necessary, the Aires Family will also enter the war and of that you can be sure"


Closing the door behind me, I left without looking back, I could understand Renan's mood at this moment, we were all in the open and our enemies in the dark, ready to attack at any moment.


We were like blind people on an open plain not knowing which direction to go or when we might be hit.


But all was not lost, patience is a human virtue and whoever lost it first would suffer the greatest impact.
