A body

As I had no answer as to why I still had this bad feeling, I blanked my mind.

Getting out of the shower, I put on some comfortable clothes and went out to talk to Joyce.

"Joyce!" I spoke as soon as I saw her. "Need to talk to you"

"What could I help you with?" She responded promptly.

"Although yesterday's operation was a success" I began. "I still have a bad procedure, did we forget something?"

She looked at me in surprise and after some thought added. "It could just be a remnant of what you already felt, or, we may have really missed something, it could also be another event that doesn't have a direct link to the one that just happened. If you need to go out, take someone with you"

I nodded slightly and after thinking for a while said. "I need to walk a little and I would like to go to a river that has in the forest, I need a quiet place to rest my mind otherwise I won't be able to sleep comfortably"

Hearing my words, she thought for a bit before calling out to someone.

Looking at that person, I was happy to be someone I knew.

"Take Almira with you, she can protect you if something happens"

I nodded in agreement and left with Almira right away.

On the way, we chatted about some random topics and it didn't take long to get to the river.

That place really was perfect to empty the mind, my body wanted to rest but, my mind was still on alert, I needed something or a place that made me feel safe.

Sitting on a rock and wetting my feet lightly, I breathed in the fresh air that exhaled from the forest.

It didn't take long for me to completely empty my mind and after staying there for about 1 hour, I decided to go back to the dorms with Almira.

We walked leisurely into the forest, everything was calm and serene, perfect for a light morning walk.

Suddenly, while walking, I felt an indescribable feeling arise in my chest, it was something different and that I had never felt and, following my instincts, I walked in a random direction.

Almira seemed to have noticed my actions, but she didn't complain and continued to follow me.

Arriving at a deserted spot within the forest, the sight I saw made my heart race.

It was a body, to be more exact a corpse, and I knew that person.

It was the mole that was planted in the City Lord's house, he had a grotesque cut on his neck completely stained with blood, his eyes still reflected the terror and indisposition he had before he died, the corpse was lying in a huge pool of blood next to a tree surrounded by small bushes.

Taking a deep breath, I took another step forward to check the condition of the body, and after examining it, I returned my gaze to Almira. "It's been a little while since he was killed, it seems as soon as he realized the mission had been a failure he tried to run away, but..." I paused a little. "They silenced him and insisted that he would not survive"

I saw her nod slightly before facing me and saying. "Let's go back and ask someone to collect the body, it's not safe for us to stay here and you must rest"

I nodded slightly and we were back on our way.

"It seems that this matter is not going to be so easy to resolve"
