The Reunion (part 03)

Hearing the Empress' exclamation, some people were still confused.

Many were looking curiously at the beautiful woman who had just arrived when the witches who were present all took a step forward at the same time before bowing and saying aloud. "We salute the Matriarch!"

Hearing the way she was addressed, many got a look of realization as everyone except the Emperors stood and saluted the Matriarch as a form of respect. "We salute the Matriarch of the Aires Family!"

Turning to the Matriarch I got a look of disgust to her as I turned to her and simply said. "Mother, you are late"

At that moment the whole room was silent and many eyes turned to me once again, it was also possible to hear muffled laughter from Joyce and the others.

I saw the corner of my mother's mouth twitch slightly as she gave the others a few dagger looks before she muttered under her breath. "It's not my fault for being late, I just had some unforeseen on the way"

I arched slightly my eyebrows as I turned my gaze to her and said, not caring about other people. "I bet the Mistress overslept again, didn't she?"

"Oh, Elora, spare your mom a little ok? It was your idea to prepare all this, not mine, why do I have to be responsible?"

"You're the matriarch, not me, that's why" I fixed her with a smiling look. "Give your best"

*Cough*

At that moment a cough reverberated, interrupting our little conversation as my mother and I turned our gaze to where the Emperors were and found all those stunned looks on us.

"How about we go ahead with the meeting?" Asked Emperor Aran, also holding back laughter.

"Oh sure, let's get started" My mother said as she ignored the embarrassment and walked back to her place among the Emperors.

Sitting there she took a quick look around the room before putting on a professional smile and saying lightly. "Sorry everyone for the delay, thank you all for coming"

Looking at her I couldn't help but exclaim inwardly. "As expected of the Matriarch" She really knew what to do at these times.

Merida, who was at my side, approached my ear before asking quietly confirming the situation. "She is your mother?"

"Yes it is" I replied without hesitation.

"I thought you hadn't seen her in years" Asked Arthur.

"And I didn't see her, my mom isn't the type of person who stays quiet in one place so it's hard to track her"

"So how did you guys meet again?" Asked Brayan curiously.

"She can be lazy most of the time and also may not like to manage the internal tasks of the Family but for her to have become the Matriarch she must have her merits, in recent years she has been trying to find out more about the inner workings of the ' An Sinnsir' and even infiltrated one of their headquarters, about a year and a half ago she came back with some news and I was finally able to get her made your working properly again."

"It seems that everyone in your family cannot be understood by common sense" Luan commented.

I just laughed at her comment however it was true. No one in the Aires Family could be understood by common sense, not even me.
