Pointless

The night was cold, but call it maddening but the cold was much more of a comfort than a unforeseen warmth.

Two guard stood outside my door and beneath my bed lied my fathers sword and yet nothing calmed my heart. It's beating was too loud, I could hear the echo in my chest.

"MORE SOAP!" I order the maiden as she bows and flees and I continue to scrub my leg and I hear my chamber door open. "If you do not have soap Dahlia-" I start as I look up and to my surprise I see my spouse standing before me, staring at me soaking wet in my tub.

"How…..how did you sleep?" He ask me as I snicker.

"Gabriel, you barged in here to ask me how I slept?" I ask him, "I think you barged in here for more" I assume as he finally rips his carnivorous eyes off of me and turns his back to me.

"You are my wife, I have every right to barge in here" he defends himself as I disguise my smirk behind his back.

"A wife you still not have had, is that really much of a wife?" I remind him as he chuckles loudly, enough for me to hear.

"You keep scrubbing and soon enough you won't have skin left to scrub! Endless amounts of soap won't erase-" he says as the water of the tub interrupts him.

"Towel!" I demand as I see his arm shaking and I walk to the bed, beside him. Water pooling at my step as I grab the towel and look at him, directly in the eyes. "I am not trying to erase anything" I make clear as he eyes stay on my face as I wrap the towel around my body.

"I am allowed to believe otherwise, your majesty" he taunts as I bite my tongue

"Since you ran off my chamber maid you can assist me" I order him as I walk behind him and hassle my undergarments on as he faces the window, "My gown!" I beckon as he exhales. Handing me my gown as I step into my skirt and claw my way into my corset. "You must tighten it" I growl to him as he finally catches my eye.

"Must I?" He asks me and I nod to him. I hear the echo of his shoes on the flooring as he nears me. The warmth of his hands as he places them on my waist and I close my eyes, hoping to stifle my hurried breathing as with a tug at my waist my body tenses.

"Now tie" I direct him as I feel his hands against the strings and a small smile dawns on my face. "Mary is ill today" I inform him as he nods his head to me as I turn to him

"And?" He ask me

"This is where your spousal duties come in the mix, shouldn't you be happy?" I ask him as I look in the mirror and smooth out the wrinkle in the skirt of my dress. "I'm finally giving you something to do" I sell to him.

"Shall I only be at your disposal my whole life?" He ask me as I turn away from him and inhale, reminding myself of our conversation last night.

"That's what's marriage is" I remind him as I turn around to face him again, "Like you so handsomely reminded me last night" I shove in his face as I push past him. Sitting on my vanity, pulling my wet hair back and into a bun as I look in the mirror, my eyes focused on his sloping figure behind me. "Ready?" I ask but then remind myself to never slow for anyone, including him.

Hearing his footsteps following me as I walk out of my room through the hallways as I smirk.

"Make note, we have a to speak to the people in a few weeks time. They are unsettled due to Narvyia's hunger" I tell him as he nods and curiosity grows in his demeanour, I can feel it.

"Are you talking war?" He ask me as I stop outside the throne room and decide to cave.

"It brings me no happiness to even consider stepping into this foreign land, especially for Ophela." I tell him truthfully, "I may have no choice, Ophela has no place in war but it also does not hold a place among fallen kingdoms." I explain as I look to him and I see something new, how truly weak he is. "It will be discussed" I assure him as I reach for his arm, awkwardly patting it.

Nodding his head in appreciation as I remove my hand and turn around. Walking into the throne room, to the council.

Seeing these men bowing to me finally brought a smile across my face, making my way to my throne and finally sitting on my throne as I hold my breath until another situation is to be dealt with.

"Rogers has been imprisoned" Gaverns mentions as I finally exhale my shortened breath, "What would you decide to be his punishment?" Gaverns ask me as I can't bear this responsibility any longer.

"The King will handle that as he sees fit" I answer as I see Durn waiting for a chance for a rebuttal.

"The King-" Durn starts

"Yes! The King, your King! He will handle the treasonous guard that tried to murder his Queen!" I yell as I stop myself, "Has Narvyia made a move?" I ask as Thomason breaks the unforgivable silence.

"They have made no move yet, but I have been informed by a soldier on the border by a poor Narvyian in exchange for bread that the king grows more antsy by the day." Thomason says as I sigh, "He wishes to invade Ophela now more than ever" he informs.

"More guards on the border, evacuate the bordering properties. Move them inland. Just because the King of Narvyia has depleted his resources does not mean that he can raid and strip Ophela of it's" I remind the councilmen

"Will your affiliation with Narvyia encourage you to reasonably consider the possibility of war?" Durn ask me as I scoff to him.

"Make no mistake Durn, Narvyia is my husband's Kingdom, not my own. I will make the decision of war with the threat of a advancement" I say remembering the conversation between my husband and I, my hand twitching with just the thought of him.

"There has been a murder in the village" Councilman Lucas tell me as I pause. "Rogers family. Murdered in cold blood!" He exclaims as I am shocked.

"Has he been informed?" I ask as they look at me and nod their heads in unison to no.

"We will visit the scene" I says as I stand from my throne and bow. Turning to leave as the men continue to talk.

"My Queen" I hear the familiar voice of Gaverns

as I stop, turning to him.

"How may I assist you?" I ask as he chuckles to me

"The people are desiring an heir" he says as I smile.

"As am I, and I will deliver" I tell him

"They fear you cannot" he whisper as I sigh.

"Sooner than later" I tell myself as he nods, "I will take care of this doubt" I rest his worries as I leave, seeing my spouse waiting for me.

"Call for the carriage" I order one of the knights as I look to Gabriel, "We are going into town" I tell him as he nods.

"Who knew being an advisor was so easy? Perhaps I should let Mary know she is no longer needed as I will take her place" he complains as I sigh.

"You will decide Rogers punishment, I cannot.....I will not concern myself with that bastard!" I angrily relay as he smirks.

"So, I am worth more than an simple advisor?" He compliments himself as I nod my head at his hope.

"I will need you to preform tonight" I tell him as confusion swarms his face.

"Preform?" He ask, rolling my eyes in embarrassment

"For a child" I clearly tell him as he nods. "Tonight-" I remind him.

"Your carriage is ready, your highness" a knight informs me as I follow him.
