Traitors and their Vanity

I knew it was a lie. At first I was convinced but looking to the window I realized how easy to convince I truly was.

The fire, their was no fire. The royal fire was supposed to be burned in cases of emergency, it was the first to be burned with the attempt on my life, the infiltration and if there was a attack the army of men would be gathered now, lead by the smoke it left.

"Just one moment!" I yell to the men, tying the top of my nightgown and slipping the sleeves of my robe on as I grab the emptied ink pen. Looking to my window as I open the latch and see the jagged roofing of the castle. "I'm waking my husband!" I stall as I slip on my booties, crawling through the window and softly shutting the window behind me.

As I stand on the roof of the castle I look down, "Damn it!" I whisper to myself as the realization hits me that I cannot make it to the fourth floor without seriously injuring myself. Looking up and seeing nothing I knew they would come to a conclusion where I went, my time was running out as I flipped my emotions off. If I was going to live, my feeling could get me killed.

Quietly making my way furthest window on the floor as I realize looking through the window I would have to break it.

Yanking my belt from my rope as I place it around the old oak tree I commanded to be trimmed weeks ago. Walking back and looking at the window, I know the belt would not hold my weight for long. I have to swing, feet first, breaking the glass and suddenly I freeze.

Hearing the sudden crash of my door being broken as I look at the window again and letting my legs slip in it from under me and break the glass as I'm thrown into the room as I stand back up. Dusting off the shards as I listen and hear nothing, looking out from the door as I hastily dart down the hallway and to the stairs hearing footsteps quicken behind as I think.

"Damnit" I whisper to myself in frustration , trying to throw these men off my trail.

Quickly taking off my robe, yanking the sleeves off my arm and stopping, slamming the robe in a door on the fourth floor as I hear the noise echo through the castle.

Continuing to run down the stairs and finally to the third floor as I fall, angrily throwing my booties off and leaving them in the hallway. The footsteps have softened and I quietly approach a door, softly opening it and quickly entering and closing the door.

Hearing creaking of some floorboards behind me as I try to collect myself that is until I see a candle flame. The candlelight showing a bed, the covers foiled as I look behind me and see him, standing there, watching me.

"I never knew you were serious about making that child-" he quips as push him into the wall. His back touching the wall as I look at him straight in the eyes, expecting a confession. "You know, this is no way to treat your husband. Usually I'm the one doing this" he says as I rule my eyes at his horrid jokes. "You liked it" he reminds me as I clasp my hand over his mouth.

"Shut up!" I whisper as I look at the door, hoping their are no footsteps. "Why do you want to kill me!" I ask him faintly as he rolls his eyes and I kick his leg. "I want the truth! I have provided for you, and this is not my fault. This was your choice, I gave you the option to go back! I saved your life because you saved mine! But I know you could never go back to Narvyia, so why? I even gave you the title of king, a pointless title now, but much better than the title of death you would receive in Narvyia!"

Removing my hand from his mouth as I try to resist myself from killing him in anger.

"I am not trying to kill you" he admits as I grab the letter opener close to me and hold it to his neck. "You would really kill me?" He ask me as I nod my head.

"I've done worse, and we both know it" I remind him as he scoffs at my threat. "But I know you didn't do this" I say, bringing the letter opener to my side as I catch my breath. My chest expanding in agony. "Your not capable of such planning, you could barely get one guard on your side for the other day and your little project" I tell him as I hear a knock at the door.

"Get behind me" he orders me as he pushes me behind him and I try to push my way to the front.

As he opens the door and I stop as I see the guards, and I finally can breath. Letting my emotions come back to me as I push Gabriel aside.

"There are about three men disguised as guards, they are trying to kill me. We must capture them, do what you must!" I order them as they continue staring at me. "MUST I ORDER YOU AGAIN?!" I yell, startling them from their daze.

"Yes, your majesty" they answer me, "In the mean time would you prefer somebody guard y-" one of the guards asks me but his sentence is stopped as Gabriel slams the door in his face.

"This is a question of security, can you not take that seriously?" I ask him as he chuckles.

"I wonder why they would look at you like that?" He ask as he points to my hem as I know what he means.

"I just escaped an attempt on my life! I did not have time to dress myself in my regular attire." I tell him as he sighs.

"No man can take you seriously like that" he complains as I snicker

"Not even you?" I ask him as he falls silent. His eyes dredged in my own as I lessen the space between us. "What is so wrong about this?" I ask him as he looks down at my outfit. "What does it make you want to do to me?" I poke as he take another step closer to me.

"I don't think you want to know" he responds as I don't want for any elaboration. My lips thrashing on his as his hands lock in my hair. My hand glued to his face as I pulled him in closer to me, this unknown hunger growing inside me as I try to satisfy it.

Until he pulls away from me, looking into my eyes his forehead against mine.

"Are you scared?" I ask him that one question and his response was more that any word could ever try to describe as he crashes his lips against mine again, deepening the kiss as his hands lower to the small of my back as I fall into his arms.
