Passing the test, and choosing a treasure

After returning to his room, John saw Sebastian sitting on a chair and reading a book.

Upon seeing that John returned, he folded the book and put it down, and said.

"Your back, young master."

But John popped a vein on his head and yelled.

"Don't go 'Your back' on me Sebastian, where were you when I was fighting those guys?!"

Sebastian just smiled and said.

"But you look like you're having fun in that battle, Young master."

Hearing what he said, John just got angrier and yelled even more.

"You know what happened in that battle Sebastian, I almost Died!! If Bacchus was not there I would have been smashed into pieces by that whip!"

In the end, his voice started to choke as he said with teary eyes.

" I could have died there, Sebastian, I could have died."

With tears now dripping from his eyes he said in a hoarse voice.

"Do you know? How scared I was at that time. I really thought that I'm going to die at that time."

"I thought that I would not be able to see you, Old man Makarov, Gildarts, Cana, and the people at the guild."

After saying that he just went to the kitchen inside the room and drank a cup of water.

Seeing that he calmed down Sebastian lectured him with a smile.

"If I have intervened in that battle, you would have not realized the preciousness of life, like you do now."

"If I have intervened you will not know the tainted glasses that you use to look at the world."

"Now you know the preciousness of life and look at the world with your own eyes, not through tainted glass."

"Congratulations young master you passed my test."

Sebastian said the last sentence with a smile and look that meant 'You've done well kid'.

"What test?"

John was confused, the only test he remembers will be at least one and a half years later.

As if knowing his thoughts, Sebastian nodded.

"Yes, it's that challenge regarding the blizzardvern, at that time you are still looking at the world with tainted glasses being close yet distant."

"And you have pride hidden deep within your bones, with every word and gesture exuding great confidence that it's only a matter of time to be the strongest."

"And not taking everything seriously, fighting enemies with a mentality of You will always win and the enemy never has a chance to kill you."

"At that time I thought that you still look at the world with tainted eyes and never knew the preciousness of life."

John just nodded in a daze feeling that too many surprises happened today and just said.

"I see, I'll go to bed now."

No more words were said that night.

Afternoon

John slept all morning passed lunchtime and woke up in the afternoon.

After a satisfied yawn, he got up and went to have lunch with Sebastian even though lunchtime has already passed.

While eating he and Sebastian chatted.

"Sebastian, I'm going to pick treasures later at the treasury of this family later."

"Why?"

"Well, they said they wanted to reward me for saving the life of their young master."

"And the intention of telling me is?"

"I know that you have lived for a long time so you must be very knowledgeable right? Then you can follow me into the treasury and see if there's any treasure worth keeping."

"With your strength, it should be no problem to sneak inside without being noticed right?"

"Interesting."

Sebastian showed an interested smile and then nodded.

"All right, I'll accompany you to the treasury today and see how deep the foundation of the Fuji family is."
