Dragon Runes

After they were done eating a knock was heard on the door followed by a voice.

"Is Mr. John awake yet?"

"Wait a minute!" John drank a cup of water and then put the dishes on the sink and washed his hands before opening the door.

After he opened the door an old butler is standing in front of the door.

He was the same butler that introduced the mission details and precautions to John when he first arrived.

"The master has asked me to invite you to the study."

"Okay, lead the way" John nodded as he followed the old butler to the study.

After arriving at the door of the study, the old butler opened the door and gestured for John to enter.

Seeing that John entered the old butler closed the door and went to do other tasks that he still had.

Entering the room, John saw the father of Isshiki sitting at the table and doing some paperwork.

"It seems that you have rested enough, wait for me to finish this and we'll go to the treasury." He said without looking up as he read every paper.

After a few minutes, he was done doing paperwork and then stood up to stretch his bones making a crackling sound all over his body.

He looked at John and walked out of the room and said." Follow me."

They then started to walk toward the inner parts of the mansion.

As time goes by the number of people and servants they met began to decrease until there are only the two of them left walking.

After a few more turns the two of them ended up in a long hallway with a door at the end but halfway through Mr. Fuji stopped.

[A/N: Let's just call him Mr. Fuji I'm too lazy to name that only appears for three to five chapters.]

John looked at Mr. Fuji in doubt about why he suddenly stopped.

As if not seeing his doubt, Mr. Fuji just gathered his magic power on the tip of his fingertips and tapped a random spot on the wall.

A five-colored magic circle appeared on the wall which then slowly turned, as they turned a gap was exposed on the wall that opened.

After the gap was exposed Mr. Fuji walked in, John hurriedly followed afraid that the gap will close on itself.

After they walked in the magic circle turned and then closed the gap.

On the other side of the gap is a row of stairs that led into the darkness.

As they walk down the stairs, dragon-shaped torches will light up the way shining the darkness of the path.

After going down to the end of the path is another wall, but this wall has strange black letters all over it.

These small black letters have an ancient and primal vibe arousing from it, suggesting that it may have been from a time long long ago.

But the more John looked at it the more shocked he was, because he can see that the words seems to be squirming?

As the words squirmed more and more they gathered into a familiar shape that John was shocked when he finally remembered.

A dragon head!

Before John could be any more surprised the dragon head roared and as if a hammer hit his head, John's sight started to blurr.

"Wake up kid!" A loud voice woke John up before he fainted.

He found out that everything returned to normal, the black texts were still attached to the wall and not moving, there were no dragon heads, and Mr. Fuji was standing beside him.

"Don't look too much at the text, this is for your own good."Mr. Fuji said as he took out a gold token with a white dragon covered with black text like those on the walls.

Sebastian's voice was then heard in his mind.

'He's right kid, don't look too much into the Dragon Runes, or else you will lose your mind.'

'Dragon Runes?'

'Dragon Runes are an ancient type of magic much more ancient than Dragon slaying magic itself. In ancient times where Dragons ran the world, even though there's dragons that protect humans.'

'But that's only a small part of it, humans outside the protection of a few dragons suffered being hunted every day not knowing if he/she can survive another day.'

'At that time all sorts of weird magic can be invented as long as they can survive, those with strong magic will shelter people and hide from dragons.'

'Among them a village protected by a strong man named Aristotle that specializes in word magic, Those in the village also specialized in the same magic.'

'Aristotle is the creator of the now known Dark Ecriture using it to build restrictions around the village to defend against dragons attacking.'

'A genius kid named Socrates was born on that village the person who created Dragon Runes by observing dragons.'

'But this magic has a fatal weakness, to use the runes to its fullest potential one must observe dragons and full comprehend its artistic designs.'

'In the ancient times where dragons are rampant this is naturally not a problem, but with the disappearance of dragons the users of Dragon Runes slowly withered until finally lost into the dust of history.'

'But if you can get the grimoire to use Dragon Runes in this treasury then you kid made it really big, because I got something inside the Mage's Sanctuary that can help you realized the artistic designs of dragons.'

Their conversation whatsoever was interrupted by the sound of the wall opening another gap.

"Come in." Mr. Fuji said as he took a step into the treasury.
