[A/N: Sorry for not updating for a while, I caught a severe fever and felt weak all over my body, so I cannot even move my body properly much less write chapters.
But, I feel a little better today, so I hurriedly completed this chapter to upload.]
"You still did not explain how the Dragon King Festival can lead to such massive amounts of deaths to the dragons," John asked a bit annoyed because Sebastian was circling around the matter without truly explaining it.
"Okay, the reason those deaths happen is that when the Dragon King Festival occurs, all the dragons that participated in the festival have the mentality of dying if they don't win over all the others."
"The dragons start killing each other in a massive all-out battle royal, and the last one standing is the one that bathed in dragon blood from different types of dragons and ate the hearts of said dragons."
"The dragon king is born from all this killing, due to it bathing and eating the blood and hearts of different types of dragons they have near immunity to all the elements that attack them and have great physical prowess greater than other dragons."
"That's why every dragon king born from the festival can lead the dragon clan to a greater height with its strong prowress."
Sebastian explained everything about the Dragon King Festival with no breaks in between making the rest of the team understand why there were so many dragon bones here.
"But, there is one thing that made me feel uneasy though," Sebastian said with a serious face."
"Oh? What thing can make our great Sebastian uneasy?" John asked with a slight teasing expression since this is the first time that he saw Sebastian looking like this.
"Judging from the traces of these bones, the Dragon King Festival should have happened sometime three hundred or so years ago."
"Then if so, why is the continent dominated by humans and not dragons?"
John nodded this is indeed a thing to be uneasy about, but John already knew the answer to this thing.
John knew that it was because Acnalogia hated dragons and swore to exterminate all the dragons on Earthland. Just, he is curious if Sebastian can guess the reason.
"There can only two reasons for this to happen:
One is that too many dragons participated in the festival and all of them died while the dragon king didn't survive the aftermath of the battle.
Two is that the winner of the dragon king festival is a bloodthirsty dragon that started massacring the dragon clan as soon as the festival was over."
Sebastian looked at John with a look that says 'Praise me, I'm so great', but, John didn't do so while searching for the dragon skeleton with the strongest bones, he explained the real reason.
"The second reason is close, but what really happened is a human turned into a dragon with endless hatred against the dragons won the dragon king festival, and started massacring the dragon clan."
"And that insane dragon is still roaming the lands today and it attacks anything it saw unpleasant to the eye."
"Anyways, enough about the Dragon King Festival, can you help me chose the best skeletons among these skeletons, Sebastian?" John asked with pleading eyes.
"You can do that yourself, find a way for yourself, there will be times that I won't be with you, so I hope that you will be less reliant on me." Sebastian rejected John's request to hone him more.
John sighed when he heard Sebastian's words, but he knew that it was right he can't be overly reliant on Sebastian, like what if Sebastian suddenly disappeared and he's faced with a situation he can't handle?
Thus, John tried different ways to test for the skeleton, like testing the hardness of the bones by hitting them with his attacks, and he ended up figuring out that it was the most useless method to be tried.
Not only was it destroying precious materials, but it also can't even prove the material's greatness in that way, so it's better to test it in a different way.
So, he tried a few different ways like testing for mana density and conductivity, but almost all the results are about the same since their strength has decayed so much since three hundred years ago.
Yet, when he passed by a large hill-like dragon skeleton, he seemed to be brought into a huge cavern with many dragons killing each other, one blue dragon is roaring with endless killing intent as its wings turned into diamonds and sliced a dragon attacking it.
Then it roared again, but those actions shocked John to reality, and with a pale face he took a few steps back from the skeleton and felt his back full of cold sweat.
Cana and Sebastian noticed his sudden change and quickly walked to him and asked what happened.
"John, what happened to you?!" Cana asked worriedly when she saw John's pale face and he's soaked back.
But, John didn't answer her question and was still looking blankly at the dragon skeleton in front of them, then as if he realized something, waves of magic power radiated from his body.
Sebastian quickly pulled Cana back to not be affected by the waves of magic power, this time he had a proud smile on his face.
"You finally reached this level you damn brat."
As if responding to Sebastian the waves of magic power echoed with the majestic roars of a dragon and like it was the most natural thing in the world John took out a carving knife and carved on the wall a rune that resembled a dragon's wings that glowed sharply.
"It's not bad for your first dragon rune, but it would be better if you got a toughness rune since it's from a diamond dragon, but it's alright for now." Sebastian complimented while looking at the rune that radiated a dragon's sharp wing.
"Huh? What just happened, Sebastian?" John asked as his eyes became clear from the previous blank state.
"You finally did something useful in the past three hours, that's what happened you damn brat." Sebastian said with a proud smile.
"You two won't believe it but, I just saw a f*cking dragon! It's a blue dragon that can turn its body into a diamond!" John excitedly told them what he saw in the vision earlier.
