Magic.
Something that I didn't consider even in my wildest dreams.
Everything till this point has been explainable by science or at least they were related to science. Even the paradox of waking up in another timeline has a touch of science, but this book…
It's all about fantasy… Magic.
Artefacts, Spells, Theories, Casters…
It had a lot of information.
However, the thing to notice was that it didn't explicitly explain the spells but barely gave the idea of where to find the files on those spells.
Same for the artefacts and the other items. All it gave were some hints about the item's ability and its possible location.
I knew that I had struck gold but I couldn't stay in this place. Taking the books and a few other files with me, I fled the place. Making sure to destroy the remaining things such that no one else could obtain them.
I left the caged test subjects on their own. After all, there was no reason for me to risk my life to keep them alive.
…
…
Building a hideout was not much of a work with my ability. All I had to do was make the hideout in a place where no one would ever go and to order the minions to cover the area in traps just in case someone accidentally trespassed.
As for the news…
The commandos managed to tear apart Gramp's hideouts however there was also bad news for America.
Their hero had fallen.
He fought a secret organisation led by one of Gramp's men which in turn led to him crashing into the Arctic.
This news is still unknown to the public due to the panic it might cause. Even I got the news only through controlling one of the high-end officers.
As for the mystery organisation… It was weird. No matter who I commanded, none of them knew about them.
The only thing I got was a symbol and a name.
An octopus… no it was the fucking Chuthulu.
As for the name, it was called Hydra.
But what they were or what they wanted was still unknown to me.
"That doesn't matter now." I mumbled, staring at the books in front of me.
Science and Magic.
Two things that don't mix. And I wonder what will happen if I manage and learn and obtain everything written in these.
However, this does make me a tad bit suspicious.
"If he had all this information, why didn't he use it?"
Were these books even legit?
I didn't know and unless and until I test on my own, I won't know either.
The book of science had things that could make or break the world but unfortunately, the location of those creations was not something I could reach. I just didn't have any means to reach those places…
Why?
Because the very first item was hidden in the thick snow of the Himalayas. As for the rest…
They are worse.
That made me shift to magic and voila!
This book had things I could obtain, pretty easily.
Similar to the book of science, there were certain things that I couldn't get my hands on right now. And there were things in this book that were even harder to obtain than the science ones.
"The Bible of Black Magic?"
This was one of the only things that were not inside some volcano.
"Under the possession of Gregor Russoff. Target of Assassination."
Did I save someone from being murdered?
"Possible abilities: Unknown."
Huh?
"Believed to possess the spells and knowledge of an ancient evil god, however, the accurate knowledge of the book is still unknown."
An evil god. That might be a gamble.
"The most accepted name of the book is the Darkhold."
As I continued to read about it, I grew more and more interested.
"The book of the dead, Necronomicon is said to have been written using a fraction of Darkhold's contents."
Pause.
Necronomicon? The Necronomicon? One of the greatest fictional books of black magic and possibly the greatest book on necromancy.
That Necronomicon?
And that was derived from a fraction of the Darkhold's contents?
Just how scary is this book?
It took me a while to get back on track and look at the other available options.
The other item that caught my interest was a certain breastplate.
Aegis.
It's supposed to be a shield but instead we get a breastplate. However, it is not impossible to obtain. It is inside a certain cave in Rome and I believe that I can reach there pretty easily.
The Darkhold sounds dangerous and I wouldn't be taking chances against the person that had possessed it for so long. The Aegis would be a great defence for when I go against Russoff.
Forged by Hephaestus himself using medusa's head, the shield was one of the greatest items of Greek mythology. If I obtained it, it would be a great advantage.
Keeping the book safely, I devised a proper plan, mostly a schedule.
I would first go for Aegis then the Darkhold. Figuring out about the Hate-Monger came right after that.
After completing the schedule, I went to another small room attached to the bunker. The room was dimly lit with candles and no windows or escape routes other than the one I entered through.
Behind the door were scientific gears and equipment, none of them was of great quality but they were still good enough to get the job done with.
Inside the laboratory were four men, each of them under the effects of my pheromones. They were given the task of analysing my blood along with the blood of Max that I found in Essex's study.
I knew that getting to the Homo Supreme stage won't be that easy. Otherwise, Essex would have figured it out ages ago. However, I needed to carry out experiments on my side as well.
And one thing I hoped for was to figure out a way to combine the abilities of the X-genes.
For all I know, it might be an impossible thing but it wouldn't hurt to test the theory in my basement.
One can never be sure of the future, I might fail.
Or…
I might end up creating something extraordinary.

[Kamar-Taj]
During the dying cold of February, a bald woman sat on top of a stool while sipping tea. Before her was a well filled with blueish water. She enjoyed watching the well while enjoying the tea, which would seem insane to an average person.
The water of the well was unmoving and while it might seem boring to many, the woman loved the stillness.
However, as she sipped her tea the water started to tremble. This made the woman widen her eyes.
"There is a variable in the timeline." She frowned. "And not a good one."
