Chapter 3: Treaty
Bobby had wanted to be an alpha. He had tried joining a pack but kept on being rejected. Bobby was well built in bodily stature. He was handsome with brown curly hair and a brown moustache. More details of the curse included their inability to turn a human into a werewolf. No female werewolves also wanted to be involved with him.
Bobby had been greatly saddened about the death of Hazel, his sister and only family, except for the twins he was left to carter for. He could now see Bella's pack arriving. He was living his life unperturbed by the intricacies of a pack life. Bobby Sandals was something like a rogue werewolf, or should they say, he was in denial of who he was. That is sometimes for a whole period of time he wouldn't wolf out.
He counted about thirty bodies. He suspected that each of the seven wolf's packs came with at least four members. Alpha Jared was the one speaking now. His lips were moving animatedly, that was until Bobby used tuned in mentally to hear what was being said.
"We have been doing okay in the past few years but as we keep expanding there is need for us to establish new set of rules," Jared said, pacing around a few distance to and fro. "There are times when not everything is about fighting. It's not like we can't fight but we won't fight because everyone knows their boundaries and we respect them properly."
"How are we going to keep on respecting boundaries when our numbers keep on increasing?" Alpha Draze asked. He was dark, tall and the oldest amongst the alphas. He had the appearance of a man who had been into many wars.
"Wait till you hear the rules Draze!" Jared bellowed. He hated being questioned when he wasn't finished. "Rather than fight each other let each pack loose at least two of their weaker warriors. They will be sent away from the pack and they will have to migrate to another forest."
"That sounds like a brilliant strategy," Alpha Kappa said, slowly nodding his approval. He had only one functioning eye. The other one was patched."Well then let the alpha's vote if we favor this suggestion over a full blown pack war. I agree!"
"I agree!" Draze said, haughtily. "That's three out of four."
"I agree," Luna Sapphire said, representing her alpha mate Declan who had a speech impediment so rarely spoke except by codes or telepathically with his luna. "What if a pack can not decide who is their weakest warrior, assuming they are equally matched in strength?"
"Then a contest will be held between warrior members of equal strength against their alpha," Jared said, his eyes darting from one person to another. "Those who survive their alpha long enough will be allowed to stay."
Bobby had listened to all he needed to hear. He was indeed sure of Jared's abilities to see this peace treaty through. He took one last look at Bella and it was like seeing Becca there. This move to weed out the weaker warriors was not new. If packs were losing members, he felt he was definitely doing the right thing keeping Becca away. She was surely going to get rejected for being a HB werewolf.

Bobby Sandals was astonished with the number of things his niece, Becca, had learned from the internet while he was away.
"I have been feeling drawn to him for a long time now, uncle. How do I find him?" Becca asked. She had her hands placed on her hips.
"It is still too early in the day to search for your mate," Bobby said. He was fixing the broken window which Becca had crashed on her way out last night. "What I mean is that you just discovered who you are. Your mate can reject you for being weak. Tonight is another full moon. Let me teach you how to survive one first."
Becca cringed at the thought of transformation. She quickly forgot about mate and said, "I figured you were keeping me locked in that windowless room because we probably transform only when we get caught in the moonlight."
"Hmm did you get that bit on your own or did your Google search show up strong for you?" Bobby tightened the screw at the edge of the window with a screwdriver. His work was done.
Becca laughed and said, "I figured it out."
"That's only part of the whole situation we are faced with under the full moon. We can transform at will between three forms. We have our human form, our were form and our wolf form. However, if you got caught in the full moon you'll immediately be transformed involuntarily to your wolf form."
"What is a were form? How do I transform at will? Nevermind, the pain is too excruciating."
"What pain?" Bobby asked as his face momentarily switched from human to that of a hairy monster. Becca jumped back in horror. "You'll learn to control your shifting after learning to control the pain of transformation. Tonight, you'll be transforming again so get ready.
"And one more thing, even on a full moon transformation won't occur until midnight. You'll be lucky if the moon is hidden behind a cloud. Most of us don't like the involuntary shifting from wolf to human or vice versa so we stay indoors on a full moon."
"I am not ready to transform again," Becca said, still feeling scared from the previous one.
"Come on let's go outside I want to show you something," Bobby said.
The backyard had molded blocks stacked in rows of four and about eight columns. Bobby grabbed one of the blocks like it was a piece of paper.
"Assuming you get hit with this you should suffer enough damages but-"
Without any prior notice he threw the molded block in his hand like it was a regular stone at Becca. The impact sent her crashing onto a wall. She felt her bones snapped out and in of positions and then all of a sudden she was feeling okay again. Another rock she realized was flying her way. The impact was damaging but just so was her ability to heal.
At first it was feeling like fun but she began to feel aggravated by the continuous blocks thrown at her.
And before she knew it, part of her hand had grown hairer and claws bursted out of her fingertips. She began using her hand to hit the incoming blocks, smashing it into bits and pieces as her hand made contact with it.
"Ah you do wolf out when scared!" Bobby said.
He sniffed someone and Bella seemed to have caught on to the scent of her friend Trish too. She immediately ran after her. If Trish had seen her form even though it was just her hand she would've been spooked by it. The mere fact that her father was throwing blocks at her like they were tiny stones and she smashing them was even spooky.
"Hey Trish!" Becca called, seeing her up ahead. "Hey stop! Let Me explain okay please."
Trish's legs did an emergency break before she did a complete turn around. "What in the world are you?"
"Trish, listen to me okay. I only found out about it last night. I'm a werewolf but I won't eat you unless you keep running away from me," Becca said, taking Trish shaky arms in hers.
"Do it again," Trish said. "Your hand, make it change again."
"I can't do it at will yet, I have to be in mortal danger to activate my were form. That's why my dad was throwing those blocks at me."
"So your Dad's a werewolf too?"
"Well sorta, look Trish you must vow to protect our secrets please."
"This is so unreal. One minute we were normal and now we are supernatural. The only way I can guarantee keeping it a secret is if you turn me."
"Trish I can't. No, I mean literally can't. I'm a half blood werewolf that was cursed by some moon goddess. Part of that curse makes me unable to turn anyone."
Together they were strolling now.
"Bullshit," Trish said, looking at Becca. Becca wasn't known to lie. "Argh! You mean it."
"Yeah," Becca whispered softly. "So promise."
"Fine I won't tell anyone," Trish said. "I thought you'd like to come for Kerry's birthday party tonight. We could crash at my-"
Becca was shaking her head and she said, "I can't Trish. Tonight is a full moon. I'll wolf out the moment I come out of my house. We will see tomorrow morning. I need to get back to my dad. We have preparations to make for the night."
"Okay," Trish said, feeling a little bummed out. "Go, and stay safe. Don't want my best friend dead before tomorrow. Hey will your dad be okay with me knowing? I hope he won't eat me when you're away?"
"Never! I'll tell him we can trust you. Besides, you would sound crazy telling anyone. So for your own good keep to your promise." They both laughed and parted ways.
