59. Asleep

"Is there something you want?" Grandma Sukma repeated when Aruna was about to open her mouth, "Where's your vitamins? I want to check if there's any that might not be good for you. Do you have an allergy?"

Aruna was speechless at the abrupt attention from the old woman. She tried to stay calm even when her heart was heavy with lies and nervousness.

"Do you feel nauseous?" and the old woman probed with her questioning again.

_I'm screwed … what should I say now?_

Aruna threw a hopeful glance at her husband again.

Hendra, the ever-helpful husband, opened his mouth to help his interrogated wife, "Grandma, it's enough … let Aruna rest for now," he added with his clear distaste for his grandmother's probing.

"Wait, I want to feel my great-grandchild," Grandmother Sukma's eyes sparkled as she leaned and rubbed Aruna's stomach. Careful and so full of love for the baby that might not even exist inside Aruna's stomach.
