Mei saw Jian, who was now looking annoyed and cursing out loud while trying to wipe off the wine stain.
"F###ing hell! Look where you're going, Lady!" He grunted out loudly.
She apologized profusely and offered to help him clean his jacket.
She looked around and started opening the doors on the corridor where she finally found a bathroom. She grasped his jacket, pulling him over inside while she stood in front of the sink.
Mei grabbed a towel laying on the sink while she turned on the tap and placed it underneath the water. She could feel Jian stepping a little closer to her side, however she didn't consider much of it thinking it was just to take the cloth.
"I'm so sorry, I should have been looking it's just that I didn't know anybody would be there, I'm really sorry," Mei apologized, switching off the tap and squeezing out the excess water.
"Why did you come up here then, if you were looking for a bathroom, there was one downstairs," Jian asked, looking over at her.
Mei felt the edge of the sink near her arm, trying to scooch over.
"Oh, I just needed some alone time, that's all, you know how these parties get, haha," she bubbled, laughing awkwardly.
When she turned around she saw that Jian was standing right behind her. She looked at him as she pouted and pushed him back.
"Hehe, I won't be able to clean your jacket if you're standing so close," she sputtered out.
Jian held her hand up, pursing his lips, "Do you need a band-aid?"
"What?"
"For your palms. They are a bit swollen," he indicated, grazing his thumb over the red marks.
Hesitatingly, she nodded, "Th...Thank you."
While Jian looked for a band-aid in the cabinets, Mei's thoughts gloomed over her.
"I just wanted to make up for what I did and yet again; Here I am, a burden to someone else."
She felt Jian swiftly place a band-aid on her palm as she stared at it intently.
"These look like fresh wounds. How did you get them?" he asked, inquisitively.
"I...I don't remember, I might have touched something sharp." She lied, fully aware of what she had done to herself in anger.
"You really expect me to believe that?" He raised his eyebrows in skepticism.
"What do you mean?" Mei answered, confused.
Jian stepped closer as she kept walking back till she felt the cold tiled wall on her bare back.
He clasped her hand tightly and pulled her towards his chest.
"Do you really not remember me Mei Mei?", He sighed in a soft and bitter voice.
"You promised you would come back for me, Why didn't you then?"
He lifted her chin up and looked into her eyes, asking
"Didn't you love me?"
Mei felt his hand on her waist, pulling her in closer with Jian's face inching closer towards hers.
That's when her senses came back to reality as she sobered up.
"Hahaha, you...you...got t...the wrong p...person, You got the wrong person, I'm s....s...sorry but I...I t...think I n....need to leave. My father must be looking for me," she said, stammering as she pushed herself out of the washroom.
Jian gazed after her, smiling, and smirked,
"She still stammers when she's nervous."
Mei stumbled out of the bathroom, huffing and just recollecting what happened in the washroom. "I'm sure he got the wrong person, but..", she couldn't help but blush a little bit when she thought about it.
"S...still, that was pretty weird. I was brought here to be introduced to someone. I can't go around messing with the Liu's son." She thought, her mind still wandering on how Jian's fingers touched her cheeks and how he looked at her. Her eyes twinkled when she thought about it but snapped out as soon when she saw him coming out of the bathroom, "What's wrong with me, I don't even know this guy. Mei, stop thinking about this.'"
She ran down the stairs in her long black flared heels and walked into the ballroom, returning to the bar, she sat on a stool acting as if nothing had happened.
Mei looked out on the entry, watching Jian coming in, not looking her way, and just leisurely strolled to his father and then Feng. He started talking to them when suddenly she saw them wave to her to come over.
She got up, wearingly, as she proceeded to stand by her father and look down at her hands, the band-aid reminding her of the scene in the bathroom.
Feng put his arm across her shoulder, bantering, "I hope you met Jian Liu. Mei, this is the person I wanted to introduce to you."
Her eyes widening in shock, she asked, "What?"
"He's the reason why we are here Mei Ling."
She clutched on her father's hand and whispered, "What do you mean? He's the Liu's only son."
Feng pulled himself back, scowling, "I told you that I won't let you fall in the wrong hands."
When she heard those words, Mei could feel her breathing hasten.
She couldn't believe what her father just told her.
"Marrying one of the most eligible bachelors in China? And that too, to my senior's son? He is the heir of Liu Entertainment! How will I ever live up to this? People would think I became a trainee due to him and not my own efforts. How worse can this day truly get?."
"He hasn't yet agreed to it. There is no need to stress about it so much Mei." Feng implied, sighing out he continued, "Every girl would jump on this opportunity, why do you have to be so negative? This is one of the best things that can ever happen to you. "
She looked at him and smiled, "Maybe because I wasn't even asked on this, or might be because I was forced to be in such a situation? But what would you know? Enjoy the party Dad, because it seems to me that that's the only thing you truly care about."
