Faint and exhausted, Mei squinted her eyes slightly and placed her hand on the nightstand, feeling about for her spare phone.
"Where is it? I can't get late for the Academy again," she thought, rubbing her head groaning, "Why is my head aching so much? What happened last night?"
She rubbed her eyes, opening them completely as her senses came to be.
"Where am I?!," exclaiming she scanned the room with her wide perplexed eyes, grasping on the blue bedsheet that laid on the large beige leather bed as she felt terrified.
The recessed lights in the ceiling made the bedroom seem like it gave out a glittering gold shade.
The choice of cream and beige painted in the interior matched the headboard in curves and swirls.
The floral traditional carpet complimented the white cushioned upholstered furniture in it.
There were 2 doors, a cream-colored, facing towards the left, and another, a deep gray-colored, facing towards the right. There was a small white sofa on the left side of the room and an armchair along with a beautiful brown coffee table alongside it. On the other side was a gleaming dressing table, stacked with perfumes and expensive accessories. Out front was a massive window, overlooking a beautiful garden filled with winding paths leading to flower beds.
Head and body throbbing, Mei stood up from the bed and slowly walked towards the window, wincing in pain, she looked out and saw a similar marble fountain to the one she saw the night before at the Liu's Mansion, standing in the middle of the garden.
Suddenly, she heard something from behind the cream-colored door.
She crept over to the door and again heard something.
It felt like water gushing and hitting an object.
As she was standing in front of the door, the noise stopped and the door abruptly opened, revealing Jian, his wet hair slicked back, with just a towel wrapped around his waist.
Startled, Mei couldn't help but give out a short scream, when Jian covered her mouth with his large hands and pinned her on the wall.
"Shushhhh", He whispered in her ears.
She couldn't help but flush bright red as she looked at him.
He glared at her and chuckled,
"You really like getting drunk, Don't you?" by saying this, he pushed her on the bed and walked out of the maroon door, leaving Mei to lay aghast on the bedsheets.
'How did he? What was that about? At least I know I'm still at the mansion,' running her hands through her hair she dropped on the bed, staring at the lights.
"Why can't I remember anything?"
//
"It's not like your only child decides to get married every day."
Mei blinked back her eyes in surprise and quizzed the drunken pair, "What?"
Chen got up as Ai dragged him away saying, "Why don't we let her father explain?"
Feng looked back at Mei and chuckled, "Why are you acting so clueless now?"
"Acting clueless about what Dad? There was no decision taken, not this soon."
"Don't pull my leg now, We all know what happened between you and Jian. He already came over and told us everything"
"What happened between me and whom?! Nothing happened! What are you saying? What the hell did he tell you?", Mei spouted in horror, starting to raise her voice, attracting some attention towards them.
Her eyes darted around the room while she felt her mind pulsating; 'Why do I have to be the center of attention every time I leave the goddamn house?'
Feng prattled, disregarding his daughter's visible uneasiness, "How about you go ask him yourself?" as he started laughing again, lifting his glass of whiskey up and turning around to chat with his group again.
Mei gritted her teeth and bit her lips in frustration. Her eyes were gazing at every person in the room to find the one she sought for.
And there he was.
Standing, looking agitated as the younger ladies circled around him like vultures.
Gorgeous young women, embellished in precious jewelry while being wrapped in exclusive accessories
'Showoffs', Mei thought.
She pondered upon the options she had.
Either to confront Jian right there or to talk to him in private.
She shook her head, took a deep breath, and walked towards Jian, trying hard to not recall the incident that took place between them before.
Walking stiffly, her eyes fixated on Jian, she clenched her palms and called out to him.
"Jian Liu", she clucked in a stern voice, with a hint of dread and instability only she could tell.
Jian looked over at her with a cold and icy glaze.
The ladies surrounding him looked at her with a frown.
"Who the hell is she? Look at her outfit, So unpretentious and tasteless ", gossiped the ladies, frowning at her.
Their voices were intentionally loud so that they would reach her soft ears.
Mei rolled her eyes but before she could say anything else, Jian pushed himself out of the pack of the vicious wolves that were circling around him like they found new and fresh prey.
"Baaaaabyyyy", slurred one of the ladies as she tried to make her body fall on his. Jian quickly reacted in a split second and the lady tripped on her long heels and fell face on the ground.
The other ladies giggled within themselves while the lady who had fallen down, picked herself up, scowling at everyone ferociously.
Mei held back her chuckles, pacing up to Jian, her heart sinking with every step she took.
"I...I need to speak with you," she trembled out.
He glanced at her, glowering back at the women who kept jabbering about Mei to themselves.
"Let's talk somewhere else," he answered, gripping her wrist firmly as he pulled her out of the crowd.
All the ladies gawked and gasped, colors fading from their faces and eyes darkening in a hostile gaze.
Mei tugged her hand back, sneering, "Stop It! Can't we just talk here without making a scene?"
Paying no heed to her remarks, Jian tried dragging her away once more.
Raising her voice, she fumed, "Are you deaf? I said stop!"
Jian paused as he looked back at her, his grip tightening on her hand, making Mei twitch.
His blue eyes gaining a deep frosty hue, he placed his hand on her back and glaring at Mei, he growled softly in her ears,
"Not here"
