DEREK

If the Royal Militia were to spend half of each day marching and half building a fort for their night camp, it would take them twice as long to reach the village. At the same time, it would mean no more night raids, so the night teams could join the day teams in daytime attacks, both when the enemy was on the march, and when the enemy was clearing out the forest around their campsite and building the fort. The night teams suffered far fewer losses when compared to the day teams. However, even so, we weren't killing them fast enough to stop them from reaching the village, and the enemy had the advantage during the day, when they could see as well as us. More daytime attacks meant more daytime casualties.
