Holiday Preparations

On Wednesday, as it was the eve of the first day of the holiday, we didn't have classes. Instead, I helped Jacob and his family finish their Sukkah. They lived on the fourth floor of their apartment building, third if one didn't count the ground floor, which they didn't. The building didn't have any balconies either, so they had to go down three flights of stairs and build their Sukkah in the yard. There were two others being erected alongside it, belonging to the neighbors. I helped put on the finishing touches by hanging the decorations and bringing the furniture, which included a table, chairs, and a narrow bed with a thin mattress.

"Is either of you going to sleep here?" I asked them.

"I am," Jacob replied. My heart skipped a beat as for a moment I imagined sneaking in at night.

"Me too," Rebecca said. Jacob gave her a surprised look.

"I thought you wanted to sleep in your own bed."
