Dead Sea

On Sunday morning, after our first Shabbat together as a married couple, we packed our belongings and set off early for the hotel. It was a long drive that took several hours. During the trip we went from the mild weather of the coast to the more chilly weather of the hills before going down into the hot and dry temperatures of the Jordan valley. It was as if instead of going to a different place, we went to a different season.

The region was sparsely populated, but we passed by several small villages and orchards of date palm trees before arriving at our destination, the Dead Sea. It looked like a regular lake, except for the lack of vegetation, but there was a salty smell in the air, but I had long heard of its unique property.
