VIVIAN

It was starting to get late, and I was surprised that Jacob hadn't finished his work yet. Marquis Leon must have known that Jacob has classes in the morning, and wouldn't want him to fall behind. It didn't make sense for him to send us home late. Eventually I couldn't wait anymore and put down my cup on the table.

"Excuse me, Nila, but I feel that I must check on my master. I'm beginning to get a little worried."

Nila nodded her understanding. I got up and went in search of the marquis' butler, or at least the driver who brought us here. Perhaps one of them would know what was happening.

After asking around among the slaves, I found the butler in a small office in the back of the mansion.

"Excuse me, sir. Would you happen to know where my master is?"

"Ah, yes, I received news that the work had been completed. All the students had already been driven back to the academy."

My heart skipped a beat.
