George and Rose returned only in the morning. When the mother and daughter stood side by side, their twin afterglows were almost blinding, enough that I felt I needed to escape. Looking around, I found Beverly wearing an uncomfortable expression that mirrored my own.

"Excuse me, master Jacob. May I take Beverly out to meet some friends of mine?"

"Sure, go ahead."

Beverly shot me a grateful look and followed me outside.

"So about what happened last night, I could help you with your problem, if you'd like," I quietly said once I was certain we were out of earshot. Beverly seemed puzzled for a few moments, until she realized what I meant. Then she turned a bright shade of pink.

"What? No, I mean, thank you, but I don't want…I mean, I like men, I mean, I'm fine," she yammered incoherently. I raised my eyebrows.
