Slyvia looked up from her breakfast, glancing at Harley before wiping her lips with a napkin.
Then, glancing over at Jane before speaking.
"I will take you shopping after you get back from school this afternoon with Jane. She needs a new dress."
Harley sighs. "Mom, it's fine if you take her alone. I will have a lot of school work to catch up with."
Slyvia nods before smiling at Jane. "I will pick you up, darling, after school lets out."
Jane smiles happily. She would get to spend the whole afternoon with her mother without having Harley tagging alone. Jane always hated when Harley went along because Harley always looked so grumpy and gloomy. People always commented on how cranky she looked compared to Jane.
Harley gulps down a glass of milk before standing up.
"I need to go to school. Dad, can I take one of the cars?"
Nathan nods, "yes, that's fine. Just be careful."
Harley nods as she heads out after grabbing the keys. She would be careful from now on. This was Harley's second chance at doing things better. She would study hard these last few months and hopefully get her grades up somewhat. After that, she wasn't going to play around anymore. Harley didn't want to be known as the heiress that barely passed her grades and got married as soon as she graduated from high school.
Sighing, Harley pushes a strand of hair out of her eyes. The first thing she was going to do this afternoon was to chop off all this annoying hair.
Opening the garage door, Harley glanced around at the cars parked. She didn't want a flashy car. Spying the black car in the corner, Harley's lips curled up. This was just what she was looking for. A Ford Focus. More than enough room for her. And she wouldn't be standing out. Everyone else in her age group where driving BUGATTI VEYRON and LOTUS ELISE. She wasn't interested in those. Harley was happy to drive something that was low profile.
Heading out, Harley passed through the gate before driving out the long lane. She loved that they lived out in the country. Although it took a while to hit the city, she didn't mind the long drive.
After driving for about an hour, she finally arrived in the city. New York was a city she had enjoyed exploring when she was married to Jack. But now it was like old news. There was nothing that intrigued her anymore.
Pulling up to the Elite school that Nathan and Slyvia Lee had enrolled both of their daughters, Harley scrunched up her nose. She hated all the checks they did. The guards acted like they were trying to break into Area 51.
The Lee Learning Academy was strict on who got to come here. And, of course, it was named after Harley's family name. Rolling her eyes, Harley shakes her head. But, of course, it had something to do with her great-great-great-grandfather doing something for the city, and so when they built the Academy, they named it after him.
Tapping her slender fingers on the steering wheel, she waited impatiently. Harley just wanted to get through this line and into the building.
When guards came to her vehicle, they took one look before waving her through.
"No need to stop, Ms. Lee; we know who you are."
Harley rolls her eyes once again. She could quickly bring something in here because they didn't check her car. Shaking her head, Harley quickly pulls into an empty parking spot. Grabbing her bag, Harley ran up the stairs. The bell was going to ring soon, and she didn't want to be late.
