Behind The Door

Behind the door was a long white hallway and several doors on each side.

The hallway turned into what seemed to be a large room from what I could see.

It was unexpectedly quiet, but it didn't matter.

Before entering, I change my appearance.

I change my elegant pure white hair to a soft, light brown.

I change my eyes from a piercing sharp light blue to an average dark brown.

Finally, I change my skin from a smooth, clean, pearly white to look lightly tanned.

It didn't look as good against the dress, but that didn't matter since there weren't any more guards to impress.

(AN- in case you don't remember, she has basically metamorphosis, where she can change her appearance. She disguised herself in places she'll be recognized or seen, but in some cases she doesn't bother.)

I step inside, walking calmly past the hallway as I looked at each door label.

One said "Yotok", and the rest also said one-word names.

The last one said "Addresses", most likely for putting the drugs in boxes or capsules.

None of the doors had windows, so it was difficult for me to know where to go without drawing attention to myself.

It wasn't exactly I had imagined a drug factory would look like, but I guess my imagination was unrealistic, like expecting the life of a spy to be like James Bond.

I turned the corner, and there were two doors, labeled "Men" and "Women". I turned into the women section; it was most likely for changing into lab attire, or the uniform.

I pushed open the door, and noise filled the air.

The room was similar to the locker rooms every high school and middle school had. Each locker had a lock, and many of the lockers had women next to them, chatting with each other.

I walked inside, searching for a locker without many people surrounding it.

Spotting one, I walked over there as if it was routine.

No one gave a second glance at me; apparently, a new face wasn't uncommon. Perhaps there were simply too many people.

I sat down on the bench next to the locker and started to unlock the lock.

I bent down, listening for the familiar click to show that one part of the combination was correct.

The locks were old-fashioned, a simple combination lock like the middle school lockers had.

Seemed like the drug factory wouldn't spare much money for the workers' locks, simply getting the inexpensive kind.

In a few seconds, I unlocked the locker.

Inside was a bag, a spare change of uniform, and a purse.

I took the uniform and started changing.

It would look suspicious if I tried to go somewhere else to change, or if I changed too fast, since everyone else simply changed in front of their lockers.

I discreetly put my own clothes in my space pocket as I pretended to put them in the locker. I locked it, and stood up.

Nothing of mine was in the locker, so I could teleport away when I'm done with my business.

(A/N - in case you didn't remember or don't want to check, Mizuki can't teleport places she didn't see or remember. Since she watched the show and has good memory, she can teleport to a lot of places, but since she never saw what the drug factory looked like, she couldn't teleport in. Same with most of her assassination missions.)

I quietly walked to the door on the other side of the locker room and opened it, not letting it show that it was my first time doing so.

Behind the door there was a hallway, and in the distance I could see an elevator. Along the hallway were four doors, distanced equally.

The door closest to me was labeled 'D'.

The next door was 'C', then 'B', then 'A' at the end. 'D' was a wooden door, looking out of place with the silver-colored walls.

'C' was copper, also standing out against the walls. 'B' was silver, and 'A' was gold.

It looked like these rooms were where the drugs were produced, and the workers were separated by door sections.

The workers behind door A probably received better treatment then the ones behind 'B', and so on.

The workers behind door D probably received low or minimum wage and not very good treatment, considering the amount of effort put into the door to show which class they belonged to, if the workers could be considered to be in classes on a hierarchy.

Since the person I was looking for was supposed to be in a VIP room, he wasn't working with the rest of the workers.

If he wasn't on a floor on the elevator, then I would look behind door A.

First, I'll consider the most likely option and go to the elevator.

Seeing no need to walk, I silent dash over to the other side of the long hallway, and press the call button for the elevator to come.

Soon, a loud 'ping' sounds, and the elevator doors open.

I step inside, then look at the box.

Each button is labeled with a floor number, ranging from the negatives to the positives.

Beside the box of buttons is a literal box, with 'VIP' written on it in gold.

My lips tilt up briefly - bingo. I should be done in less than an hour if all goes well.

The box required a key to press the button, but I merely took out a hairpin from my space pocket. I unlock the box in under 15 seconds, and open it.

The button is made of gold, which I can tell as soon I see it. The VIP floor was clearly for the best, if this was anything to go by. I press it, and the elevator glides up.

A/N:

Hey guys, I'm back.... I know this is really short, but I wanted to get something out for you, and I decided this could be a good stopping point.

I have a vague idea in my mind about how the rest of the "assassination" arc will go, but I'm unsure how to execute it so please be patient.

Thank you, everyone, for your patience, understanding, and support! I really appreciate it. I wasn't able to start writing until today, but hopefully I'll be able to get more chapters out soon.

I also wanted to say, in order to feel less pressured (and get more sleep) I'll be writing on my own schedule, so the posts might not be as frequent as two-three times a week.

For example, I won't be able to write during school breaks since I have something pretty important coming up (I don't remember if I mentioned it, but yes I go to school), or at least it feels important to me.

I have to study hard for it, so I won't be able to spend all my free time doing this.

Again, thank you for all the kindness and encouragement. It really helped...I hope you'll be able to continue being patient with me as I try to get back on track.

I'm sure you've realized, but this fanfic will probably become pretty long, so I'm trying to give some insight on Mizuki's backstory and how she became powerful. Otherwise it would be pretty boring and confusing.

Anyway, thank you again for understanding, and please continue being patient and wait for chapters when they get released. I can't make any guarantees, but I'll try my best to make room for this fanfic in my free time. Again, thank you!

And I hope you enjoyed this chapter, small as it was.
