The Mary Celeste Fate

Have you ever heard of the greatest mystery in the world of shipwrecks? Well, here I come to tell you!

Mary Celeste was built in 1861 at Spencer's Island, Nova Scotia, Canada, receiving the name of Amazon.

In 1861, during a maiden voyage, the capital contracted pneumonia and died suddenly. The ship was damaged several times, when in 1867 she was found stranded in Cow Bay, Cape Breton Island.

A year later, Amazon was sold to Richard W. Haines, who renamed it Mary Celeste. The ship underwent structural changes and was sold to a group, which eventually included Captain Benjamin Spooner Briggs.

In 1872, the ship set sail for New York City, with a total of 1,700 barrels of alcohol bound for Genoa, Italy. A total of 10 people were traveling on board. During 2 weeks the Mary Celeste faced quite severe weather, according to log entries the Mary Celeste was only 6 miles (11 km) from the azones.

A total of 10 days later, the ship was seen by the British begantine de Gratia. But the crew of the Mary Celeste was no longer there.

Even so, the ship was in good condition to continue sailing. Adding to the mystery was the fact that both the cargo and the crew's belongings were intact, but a boat was missing. It was as if they suddenly jumped ship. The authorities opened an investigation, but found nothing.

In 1884, the case of the celestial mary became popular, receiving the name "The Ghost Ship", they even began to create theories about the case.

It is believed that Captain Briggs thought that the ship was receiving a lot of water and thought that the ship was about to sink and that is why they abandoned it.

Investigators showed that the ship's pumps showed signs of trouble; A faulty reading from the soundbar and an ineffective bomb might have led Captain Briggs to believe that the ship would sink and he ordered to abandon it.
