At the Dining Hall
Rita was at the dining hall with the Little Prince. Richard was nowhere to be found.
Rita was eating silently as she recalls what happened the previous night. She knew that it was because of what happened the last night that Richard was not eating with them in the dining hall.
She had hurt his feelings with some of the things she said. She felt a little bad but relieved that he did not tell his mother anything.
Knowing Richard and how he has been behaving recently, he really could have told his mother.
"Mother, where is Father?" The Little Prince asked again for the hundredth time and it got Rita sighing out loud.
"I told you that he is busy." She said. "Busy doing what?" He asked with his face scrunched up in a frown. "With his kingly duties. Very soon, you will also be busy with kingly duties. You will also get to that stage one day and I will be very proud of you when that happens. Okay?" Rita said with a smile on her face and her son smiled back at her with a smile on his face too.
Rita then continued her eating.
Rita saw some of the maids coming from Brenda's room with her things. She got confused. Not too long after, Brenda came out. She then walked up to the Little Prince. She bent down to his height level. "I'm leaving now." She said and rubbed his head at the same time.
"But why?" The boy asked with sadness which was evident in his voice and facial expression. Brenda smiled gently at him. "Do not worry. I will come back again. Very soon. Okay?" She reassured him.
The boy nodded at her and Brenda kissed him on the top of his head. After this, the maids resumed feeding him. They fed him and anytime he wants to talk, they pause. When he is done with whatever he wanted to say, they then resumed back to feeding him.
Brenda rose and turned to Rita. "Take good care of yourself." She said to Rita. She was about to leave when she noticed that Richard was not there.
"Where is Richard?" She asked Rita.
"I do not know. I suppose he is going about his duties. You know that there are important matters that he has to attend to." Rita responded without even looking at Brenda.
She felt that it was because of Brenda that she and Richard fought. "You are right. I will take my leave now." Brenda said before turning her attention back to the Little Prince. "Bye Glover." She said with a big smile on her face.
The Little Prince turned his attention from his food and looked at Brenda. He saw her smile and he also grinned widely at her, then he waved at her.
Brenda waved at him also before leaving the hall.
...
General Cyan, King Richard, and General Livius were sitting around a table and discussing ways in which the war may be stopped or won. It all depends if King Fithon of Mocris decides to settle for peace or not.
Beside General Cyan, was Dherek.
"It would be good if we can get King Fithon to cancel this war. We know the state of the economy of the Kingdom. The Kingdoms which we trade with, are nothing compared to the economy of Mocris alone. This will not in any way benefit the people." General Livius said.
"But from the look of things, it does not seem as though King Fithon has any plans to call this war off." King Richard said.
"Have you tried reaching out to him?" General Cyan asked them.
"No, we have not. But we sent a spy to their Kingdom and from the report, he gave to us, King Fithon is hell-bent on this war." General Livius responded to her question.
"Why?" Dherek asked. "Greed. He wants to take over this Kingdom. Probably a plan of his to extend his Kingdom. I just do not understand why some people are so greedy. His Kingdom is doing good already, so why does he want to take over this Kingdom?" King Richard said I'm exasperation.
General Cyan looked at him intently. "Greed. People are never satisfied with anything in the world. Give them the world, then they will start wanting the universe. You know, it's funny how people get angry over what does not belong to them. Like, you are a thief and you steal something from someone, then another person wants to take it from you, and you are angry. Crazy, isn't it? But one thing that you should be sure of, everyone should be sure of, is that whatever one sows, he shall reap. You steal from someone, you get stolen from. You kill someone, you get killed. You kill someone's child..." General Cyan paused and smirked evilly.
"...your child gets killed too." She finished, her gaze still on King Richard.
King Richard felt a shiver run down his spine. The look which General Cyan was giving him was dreadful. It was as if she was referring to him. The unease which he has been having for some days now increased with the things she had just said.
General Livius, on his part, felt that her words were threatening. He wondered why she was looking at the King the whole time she said what she wanted to say.
'It seems like she likes to pick a particular person and then start at the person, intently.' He thought. 'But why does the King looks scared?' He wondered, seeing the scared look on his face.
Dherek looked at King Richard and smiled noticing the fear in his eyes.
"King Richard, are you okay? You look scared." General Cyan said with a fake concern.
King Richard was lost in thoughts when General Cyan called him. When he heard what she said, he quickly collected himself and kept his cool. It would be highly suspicious if he kept on looking scared.
"No not at all. I'm good." He said.
"Let us get back to what we were saying," Cyan said. "Yes." General Livius said."There seems to be a spy in this palace." He told her.
