The Final Test

Shade coughed himself awake. He opened his eyes to find himself back in the test room. He was however quite surprised that he was alive. He remembered collapsing just at the end of his memory. So did this mean that he had passed the test?

"You're finally awake," said the Shadow Master who was standing at the opposite end of the room.

Shade then slowly picked himself up. His body felt a little strange but the wound to his heart had completely healed.

"Did I pass the test..?" He asked.

"Yes, but just barely. I wasn't certain that you would make it."

"I see... Is that why the wound to my heart was healed?"

"Yes, once you finished the test, your wound healed by itself. The wound to your heart was meant to unlock your memories. Since you've faced those memories, the wound has closed."

Shade then took a deep breath as he tried to relax. It was a relief to know that he had passed the test. It had been no easy task for him to face his past. He was happy that it was all over.
