Chapter 30: Of Voices Heard
Leila and Laela stood in front of each other in their dream. Leila and Laela were both dumbfounded. For a good moment, they had shared memories of each other once more. Leila reached out to the half-elven woman, unconvinced. Was her mind playing tricks on her once more?
Laela, steadfast, grabbed the other woman’s hand with a smile.
“You were trying to connect with me for the past days,” Leila said, as if out of breath. She couldn’t quite believe it.
“And you rejected the memento,” Laela said, astonished. Leila furrowed her brows, confused.
“I did?” Leila questioned. In response, the taller woman nodded her head gently. “But I grabbed it.”
“And you saw your memories,” Laela continued. It was Leila’s turn to nod. “You woke up.”
“Is that rejecting it?” Leila didn’t quite understand. Laela nodded. “That doesn’t really count. I just woke up.”
Laela shook her head. “Your body chose not to relive them.”
