Falling Meteors

Evening shadows deepened into blue and purple as we took a walk down the peak, the gathering had just ended but my master and i took the most quiet and empty path making it easier for us to hold hands as we walked past, the evening breeze was calm and it fluttered our loosed sleeves along with our hair, making it dance with the breeze, a satisfied smile formed on my lips and I turned my gaze to his direction.

"Won't we get in trouble for stepping out like this?" As much as I enjoyed our little walk, the consequences for leaving the main hall never escaped my mind, at this point I'm not even supposed to see him because once it's one of the rules after joining the tournament, we're not supposed to be in contact with our master's until the end of the tournament which means I won't have the chance to see my master after this.

"You worry too much." he uttered, squeezing my hand affectionately in his before turning to meet my gaze.

"Don't fuss, you won't get in trouble, I'd never let that happen." His reassuring tone eased my heart and I didn't care any longer. I was going to enjoy our little walk and savor our time together, resting my head in his shoulder and then I suddenly remembered the reason for the sudden walk.

"You said you wanted to show something to me, what is it?" I asked with an expectant look and he smiled.

"Right, come with me."

He led me past a hidden path across some thick covered bushes, it kind of looked familiar though, the soft crunch of the leaves on the ground made me feel the wistful, shredded tapestry of autumn.

"Where is this place?" I asked while my eyes still scrutinized the place in wonders.

"You'll see." were his only words to me and we kept moving. Throughout the whole time we were walking, he never once let go of my hand and I blushed as the thought crossed my mind. If someone told me a day like this would come, a day I'd hold hands like this with my master? I'd never believe it.

We finally came across an open space and my eyes widened in reverence at the sight, crisp golden hues with vibrant oranges resting on the lushed grass, they danced and pirouetted from the naked trees in a shower of color bringing a sudden warmth deep inside of me.

I just realized he brought me to the end of the peak, not only that, it's magnificent view left me stunned, the stars twinkled brightly against the night sky and the full moon, a pale, blue white disc, the view was magnificent and really pretty and I haven't seen the sky bear so many stars like this before, it was breathtaking, fireflies flew about with their light creating a warm scenery as they rested on the grass, I turned around to gaze at my master who looked relieved at my astonishment.

"Lord Qui, this place is beautiful." I said with a smile as I twirled around, the fireflies hovering around me and the wind fluttering my dress, his warm gaze never left me as he watched me twirl with delight.

"I'm glad you like it." he said.

We both rested on the lush grass gazing at the beautiful stars with our hands behind our head, enjoying our moment together.

"Lord Qui." I said.

"Hmm?"

"I wonder what a meteor looks like."

"It's a beautiful sight." He said, "Although you hardly see them, it's just luck." he said.

"I've heard of it's beauty, they're like shooting stars but tons of them falling straight from the heavens, some say it's a blessing from the above, I've always wanted to see one or maybe I have but I'm already wishing to see one, to know what it looks like."

"You'll see one, when it's time to." he assured me and there was silence for a while again, not until I brought another topic.

"Isn't the moon more important than the sun?" I asked while gazing at it, he chortled at my words.

"Why would you say that?"

"Well, the moon comes up at night when we need it most, doesn't that make it more useful than the sun that comes during the day?"

"If there was no sun, there wouldn't be a day." His words were thoughtful and I gave myself a light slap at the back of my head, don't be a dummy Shanxia, he sighed and continued.

"Infact, the moon derives its light from the sun which makes it a nuisance to the sun most of the time."

I sat upright and kept my gaze locked on the stars.

"Doesn't that make the moon a nuisance to the stars as well?" I asked. "It's not easy to be the only one different from the rest." I just realized the moon actually shared a little similarity with me, being the only different one and a nuisance too.

"You're right." Lord Qui complied in agreement to my words. "It's different, which is what makes it special and unique, all the stars are the same but you can't find any of them similar to the moon."

"But it's just there, the stars are more attractive and the moon would obviously be envious."

"The stars are attractive, but the moon is taking up a large space, it only makes me notice its presence and nothing else, even if I try to look elsewhere, my gaze always comes back to the moon."

I gazed at him over my shoulder and he locked eyes with me, my heart raced and I wondered if he was actually talking about the moon or me.

I gazed up at the sky again with a smile, "I also have a favorite star." I said.

"You do?" that surprisingly piqued his interest and I nodded.

"They're actually a lot of them, how do you know which is the right star?" he asked.

"The star everyone loves." I pointed at a really bright star that hung on the dark sky. "The brightest of them all."

I laid down back on the soft grass. "A lot of people actually love and want that star but I ended up wanting the same as well, now I'm wondering, is it right for me to love a star everyone loves?"

Lord Qui kept his gaze on the star I pointed. "It's just a star, but the stars over there, why don't you ask it instead?" he said and I kept my loving gaze on him.

"I'm looking at the star right now, so I'm going to ask it." I took a deep breath and turned to look at him.

"Will you let me love you?" I asked him although his main focus was on the stars, the moment he averted his gaze and met mine, his eyes widened like he just realized I was talking about him and not the stars, I averted my gaze immediately and tried to turn away but he stopped me and made me face him instead, I could see the expectant look in his eyes as he asked.

"Did you really mean that?"

Facing him right now, staring into those dark moonless eyes of his and under the blissful night sky, I wanted nothing more than to be with him like this every single day, I nodded my head accepting the fact I had already fallen for the man in front of me, a flash of emotion crossed his eyes and he rested our foreheads against each other, my eyes closed as I inhaled his scent, that much loved fragrance of sandalwood that wasted no time in flooding my mind, his lips suddenly brushed mine in the most gentle caress and I shivered from it, his lips claimed mine after that kissing me so passionately I felt the world around me go empty, giving us a private time to ourselves.

What came next left me bewildered as tons of meteors fell from the sky, at high speed and burning up, looking like fireballs, they were so many and they came in thousands blending with the beauty of the stars, I was completely speechless I sat upright, how did...but I.... I've just seen a meteor, could this day get any better? my heart warmed up and I took it as a blessing from the above.

"Told you we would see one." my master said, also gazing at it, my eyes twinkled brightly.

"They're even prettier than I thought they could ever be." I said, my wishes were starting to come true bit by bit and I wondered what wish of mine was going to be fulfilled next.

My master suddenly pinned me back to the floor and a gasp escaped my lips, his eyes gazing directly into mine and they glowed like crescent moon.

"They're pretty, but nothing can be compared to you." his words made my heart flutter and we locked lips, I was too overwhelmed with happiness I felt I might just burst.

I wrapped my arms around him pulling him down on me, his kisses where gentle but I didn't want that, my body ached for his touch again so i deepened the kiss conquering every depth of his mouth with my tongue, he released a slight groan and his hands quickened to disrobe me, loosing the knot on my dress and I stopped him pulling him away from me as I gazed into his beautiful dark eyes.

"No no, we can't do it out here." I glanced around, worried someone might spot us or even come around.

"No one comes here." he whispered into my ear, his breath hot against my skin sending a range of desire heating up inside of me. "It's been abandoned for a while."

I still looked around unsure of his words yet.

"Any more questions before I kiss you?" he asked, making the color in my cheeks turn darker.

"Can't we go back to your hall instead?" I asked shyly.

"You should have thought about the consequences before arousing me."

"But..."

He closed the gap between us and claimed my lips to shut me up, kissing me under the falling meteors that showered upon us it's blessing.
