Chapter 3: Rank G are you kidding me?

It felt really bad to know that a guild wouldn't want me because I was a G rank; sure, I was weak for the average adventurer, but I know I can improve. Well, you know what you damned guild I don't need you anymore I said under my breath. I kept walking and walking until I spotted a goblin and slowly approached it. The first rule of hunting is to always get the jump on your enemy or prey and in this case step one was complete. Next was to overwhelm the target with heavy attacks. Although I don't have a sword, I do have a club so I will use that as well as my shield to combo.

Games have combos that can be used to keep the enemy overwhelmed, this feature would help a lot to kill low level monsters as they don't have resistance. I jumped out and whacked its head with the club. The skull was harder than I imagined it to be, but it was still surprised by the sudden attack, so I prepared my shield to knock it down. With enough force it fell to the ground, and I again whacked it with the club, and this time it dealt damage. I pressed the button on the shield and punctured its eyeballs leaving unable to see and hit it until it died.

It felt good getting out some of my anger and soon after I killed the goblin I leveled up. The system gave me two skill points even though the usual amount a player can obtain is one per level up. I checked my system and I saw something I had missed under my stats, I had a title! Looks like it has two effects: the first one says I have a five hundred percent exp boost for three hours, with one use. The second one says that I have a small chance of getting one extra skill point every time I level up, and this depends on my luck.

At the sight of this I couldn't help but laugh as the gods have blessed me this time around. Getting one extra skill point per level is huge even if I have menial stats right now eventually, I will surpass all the others. While I am trapped in here grinding constantly the other players will have to rest outside the game. This gave me a huge advantage against other players as I am treated as an NPC now. But of course, my name will appear on the leaderboards once I become a King. The thought of me achieving the level of King and rubbing into the faces of those dumbasses who turned me down got me fired up.

I turned on the first title effect and started my grind to go as far as possible in 3 hours. The system went crazy after an hour and a half, and once the timer ended, I ended up reaching level 30. I obtained a new title "The slayer of Goblins" this one only had one effect which allowed me to get a ten percent damage boost against Goblins. Not only that but I managed to find a decent sword to use instead of the club. The goblins probably killed a person and stole their sword I thought. Not to mention how many skill points I obtained after three hours of grinding. I now have 40 skill points to spend on boosting my stats.

My hp has also increased to a whopping six hundred fifty, making me a little more tanky than most players. Next was to boost each of my stats:

Pow: 8 +(20) Def: 6 +(10)

Mana: 15 +(5) Agi: 10 +(5)

So, what I realized from increasing my Int was that Mana is always three fourths of it. Also, I should be at the typical level 30 player with this, meaning I could probably join the guild now, but it's their fault for messing around with me. I ventured deeper into the forest and encountered an unfamiliar sight, it was a hobgoblin which is about two to three times stronger than the average goblin. It was much larger than a goblin and was carrying around a great sword. My sword currently has an attack power of 15 and my shield has an attack power of 10. With my power boost and speed boost I should be able to get a jump on him. I just need to wait for him to leave himself wide open.

To my surprise it didn't take long for that to happen, so I jumped at it from behind with full force and landed a hit on it. Honestly it didn't look like it was alarmed by my approach and countered my attack with ease. It almost sliced my arm off with that huge ass sword, for once I had a challenging opponent I thought. I knew that he was above my level, but I still wanted to fight him so that I could get stronger. I know I seem power hungry at this point, but I assure you that this is all for my true goal.

"Enough!" I yelled and charged at my opponent head on ready for its next attack. This time I saw the attack coming at me easily and blocked it. With my left hand I pushed the button on the shield and cut some of its skin. It punched me back with its fist and dealt a lot of damage, almost taking away eighty percent of my hp. The system gave me a danger notification, but I ignored it and kept attacking it until I was at one percent of my hp. We were both tired and moving sloppy now, but I had the system on my side. A new notification popped up saying I unlocked a new skill. This skill would be the key to beating this hobgoblin and growing stronger for the future.
