Chapter 4: Luck is a part of my skill

I unlocked a new skill after reaching one percent of my hp. It was called, "Last Stand", to be honest the name didn't sound too flashy, but the boost it gave me was major. Last Stand: A skill that allows the user to increase all stats by 10 for a duration of 5 minutes when facing a stronger enemy. With this I can win I thought and activated it immediately. While it was in effect it looked as if the hobgoblin was in slow motion. Obviously, it wasn't it was just that my speed had increased. I dodged the attack and cut one of its eyes, it started screaming and almost lost balance, so I tackled it. As soon as it fell down my blade pierced through its heart killing it.

The hobgoblin dropped an item that allowed me to increase some of my stats. It was called, "Necklace of Goblins." Necklace of Goblins (rare): gives user +2 on strength and +1 on agility, also can be used as material. This really surprised me, but I took it with gratitude and thanked god for giving me a gift. I of course levelled up after that terrifying battle and gained one ability point. I then investigated the system more to check if I could get any specific items using it. The system had a feature called daily gifts and you randomly would get something from a thousand different options. Which include swords, shields, armor, potions, spells, and even familiars. I opened hoping for the best to arise from it and all I got was a potion and some coins, used as currency in the game. I used the potion to heal some of my hp.

I was feeling down because of how bad that was until I got a notification saying my luck had increased by 1. Most of the time luck would seem like a useless stat, but I know that you need to be lucky to do a lot of things. So, this gave me a ray of hope for the future. If I logged in everyday from now on and claimed the rewards every day, I wonder what I would get, I said to myself. Afterwards I opened up my stats to find the question mark was still there but with a +1 next to it. I still wondered what that question mark meant but something told me that was a good thing.

I walked back to the town and bought some new clothes with the money I had gotten; it was roughly 10 gold pieces which was a lot for the poor but a small sum for the rich. I wore a black cloak, a mask, which had horns on each end with one broken and that face had red paint looking like blood on the mask. Under my cloak was a suit that was black and had a red tie. I walked into the guild hall again but this time I walked in there like a boss. Everyone stared at me as if they had a problem and I just gave them the death stare to show them I run the show now. I walked up to the registration once again and asked to be a part of the guild.

The same girl stood before me thinking I was a different person, she gave me the paper. I signed it with an R this time. She looked at me and said, "Hey mister do you mind giving me your name, maybe we can hang out sometime." I laughed inside me and just told her to call me Raven. She again brought out the bracelet and I knew that this time I would be the one surprising her because I have levelled up quite a bit. I put it on, and it lit up measuring my strength to be that of D rank. She looked at me surprised but also happy and led me to the GuildMaster's place.

I followed her with the intention to just kill her right now, but I wanted to save her for last. As I neared closer to the Guild Master's door, I felt a strong presence coming through the door. I entered to see an old man sitting there with a bunch of elf girls surrounding him, it pissed me off. He was using elves practically my age as if they were his dolls that he had when he was a child. I couldn't do anything about it, so I just stood there as the girl in front of me introduced me as well as herself to me. She said her name was Rebecca. I honestly didn't care enough about her, so I didn't catch her last name.

She then introduced the GuildMaster to me and said his name was Robert. Robert was an S class ranker and was far stronger than me. Just him staring at me gave me the chills. He asked the girl about me, and she said I was special. I could've just spat at her face when she said that, she called me trash before. No matter, I am still going to get my revenge on this piece of shit guild. He looked at me with no expression on his face, it's as if he thought I was just some nobody. I gave him a glimpse of my murderous intent and that made him smile, he then led me to the task board where I could see various missions. Some of which were helping people with their day to day routine. While others were hunting down monsters.

None seemed to catch my eye but one that had urgent mission for a dungeon. The rank was C so I thought I couldn't take it, but the GuildMaster said that if I could find a party then I could take it. This was going to be my first mission with people that I can put my trust in, I thought as I looked around the guild hall.
