Chapter 9: Alone

To think that she would betray me... Let me tell you a quick story of what happened to me in middle school. Like every other kid I was treated the same, and obviously I had a special someone in my life at the time. This girl was fascinating to me and we talked a lot during class, I would help her and she would help me. One day I felt like today would be the day that I would confess my feeling for her. I saw her in the hallways and I ran up to her to try to talk to her. We started talking a little bit but she had changed in a way that I would never forget.

So while we were talking this guy comes up to us and says, "Hey Ares you messing with my girlfriend?" I have no idea about who this weirdo is so I was a little confused and tried to tell him to back off. He swing at me and I was down for the count. I mean what do you expect from someone who looked twice my size and older than me. From that day on I started working out and keeping myself fit for the day I meet him once again. After a year of working out I finally saw him and walked up to him.

I saw that he was hanging out with the girl I liked aka his girlfriend. From behind I tapped him on the shoulder and as soon as he turned around BOOM I hit him. "What's up fucker?" I said, he was still laying on the ground puzzled by the sight of me. I didn't think he would remember me, but then I showed him the scar he had given me. He got back up and cracked his knuckles ready for a fight, once again I swung at him. This time I missed and he took the opportunity to punch my gut.

Man it hurt like hell but this was my revenge I thought for him attacking me and stealing the girl I loved. We kept going at it, each landing a blow; kicks, punches. Until both of us were on our last breaths, one punch would finish it all... At this point the girl had ran away trying not to get into this mess. For the final blow I faked with my left and hit him with my right. It was over... Or so I thought.

The next day I was blamed for the whole thing and the one who blamed me was that girl. You would think that after all that happened to me, she would pin the blame on the older kid. Anyway flash forward to now I am drowning in both my thoughts, and for real. At this point I have pretty much given up on loving someone. These bitches really know how to annoy me and honestly they don't deserve my time.

As I slowly drowned and drowned I could see the light at the end of the tunnel, but then something woke me up. I woke up coughing out water with blurry vision, all I could see was the sun beaming down on me. I reached out to it trying to touch it, but to no avail could I actually touch it. I laid there for another hour just wondering about what I should do from now on. I didn't have anyone to go to or anyone that I trusted enough to get help from. I closed my eyes and as I did all I could see was a vision of Katie laughing as I fell down the cliff.

Man she got me I thought, I knew that lady luck hadn't blessed me in this life either. I finally got up and looked around; all I could see was more of the forest. The forest is very dangerous and not just because of the monsters that lurk in there, there are also elves. Not the elves that I met back at the town, but vicious ones who hate humans and want them dead. These elves mainly work in the shadows so they shouldn't be out yet, but I need to get out of the forest quick.

I started following the water to look for any possible end to this forest. I went at it until sun down things were starting to look really bad for me now. The elves typically come out at sundown as there are more spots for them to hide. These elves are known as dark elves. In this game these elves have dark skin and white hair, but they usually cover themselves in cloaks. Suddenly I heard something behind me... I slowly crept along the bushes to get a better view of the situation.

As I got closer I heard chatter in human language so I got out of hiding to see what was going on. But before I revealed myself I made sure to cover myself up so that they wouldn't know who I was. Now I walked straight to them and got a pretty nice view of the situation. It looked as though the carriage that had been transporting nobility or a merchant had broken down. There were also other people gathered around the carriage who looked to be adventurers. Typical for and rpg I thought and walked in closer just so that they could see me.

As soon as they saw me they drew their weapons, I thought they were going to attack me so I spoke to them in human. I said, "Woah relax I'm a human not a dark elf, I'll show you." I walked in closer and showed my human skin because they were still on guard. I walked closer and said, "I can help you guys if you want." There were four of them by my count and they were all in different classes, pretty balanced out too. I put down my weapons and raised my hand showing no hostility. As soon as that happened I saw one of the people's heads pop right off from an arrow.
