Chapter 18: No Mercy

"Everyone! Be careful!" Jirobu yelled inside the temple full of people who's praying their hearts even in the middle of the night because of the dedication and faith to the god of wind, but now their focus was interrupted. Shu who was walking deep in the night, despite the smell of rain had caught the scent of people several distances away from where he stood. He felt that there was something wrong.

'There's too much scent coming from the god of wind's temple.' he thought, pacing towards it as he also identified the scent he loathed to his core. Jirobu's.

'I finally fucking found you.' he stopped in his tracks and his lips curved up to a dirty smile when he took the scent inside his lungs to confirm that it was really from his foe.

Shu moaned in delight, itching to get his hand to the corpse of his enemy. "I've roamed around to find you, Jirobu.. yet here you are.." Shu stopped walking and stood in front of a huge temple.

"Offered by the gods themselves."

Jirobu had spread the news throughout the whole town, yelling in the rainy night, door to door, pinning the murder to his enemy, Shu, who now had Shu's friends and neighbors in a bad impression against him. Now Jirobu came to the holy temple to share the altered news to the people of the temple saying it was Shu who sinned and did the most unforgivable crimes possible, twisting it little by little.

The crowd was full of murmurs, and the night's black sky rained even harder. Behind the face Jirobu was making, there was a hidding grin of entertainment. The crowd began to say piles of comments, their mouths starting to gobble terrible words and making contorted faces of strong repugnance.

"How could he?!" Rambled one person within the crowd.

"I didn't know that kind boy also has evil intentions! How bold of him to do that to the person who saved him from death!" Exclaimed a woman, followed by a cheer of strong agreement.

"I never thought that sweet boy would do that! He even helped this temple time by time! Putting on a mask! How dare he!"

"Killing his friend... What a terrible crime that is."

"How scary!"

Jirobu laughed underneath his breath, then changing his face again as he looked up to the crowd. "Everyone! Listen!" Called out Jirobu, "That man is in this town! Maybe preying for his next victim! He's notorious and he's not human! He killed his friend who tried to help the poor mother! With no choice he killed both of them!" The people looked more frightened at each word he gives away, gasping as fear takes over them.

"So if you see him, lets catch and burn a rapist like him!"

"Yeah!!!" Exclaimed the crowd loudly, yet someone within the crowd, hidden by his cloak grinded his teeth together.

All the restraints he placed, bursted and all exploded at the same time. After it all, no decent emotions we're left to him, Without a mother, and his dearest friend beside him, he has no purpose to live on. All was left is him alone. Just like an empty shell, nearly broken to dust if were to be touched by the wind.

'i will ruin you for your lies.'

Closing his eyes out of intense anger, something within him awoken once more. The voice inside his head spoke. 'Let me take over, let me let me let me, oh let me out oh please...'

"Just this once. Take control of me."

His eyes flashed open, glowing harder than any bright lit lanterns inside the temple. The floor seemed to shake, the intensity of the air seemed to vibrate. The people grew wary and looked around. Seeing a black clothed person within them.

"What are all of you..." He looked at Jirobu's eyes. "shouting for... right inside of a divine being's abode?" What happened next terrified all of them to the core. A black thick aura and multiple pair of eyes seemed to watch them. Just this one person, had felt like there were thousands of eyes watching them.

He took a step forward, the crowd stumbling over and lost their composure in horror, their body giving up strength. "Declaring to kill somebody, in front of a god?"

His presence alone was enough for their knees to tremble and make everyone inside the temple knelt down at his arrival. Their souls felt a terrifying wrath behind the little smiles the man gives under the cloak. It was pure silence, the atmosphere was so heavy that no one even dared to speak until the man took a step forward, the floor creaking spookily.

A kneeling monk spoke, trying to peek at Shu. "T-those eyes! that color! Those one and only color that can only come from twenty years ago! That beautiful amethyst light from the heavens and the descriptions inscribed at the scrolls!"

He gasped loudly and trembled. "H-he... He's... god!" With this claim, the people looked up and gulped, the resemblance to the god's statue matched bit by bit. They realized, finally, that they were in the presence of the god that they pray to each day of their lives, their mouths were open in shock.

"The embodiment of the star of the west... The god of wind has come!" Someone said within the crowd, all of them immediately kowtowing deeply as they can under the presence of the god they serve at.

Jirobu stepped back and pointed. "Shu!" He shouted, fighting the gravity of his knees. "I-Its him! Its the murderer!" He looked at the people who had their foreheads down the floor. "He's the one who killed his own family! A cruel man with a terrifying power! He's a monster!"

"How can you say that?! Where's your proof?!" A man from the kneeling devotees shouted to Jirobu, the people quickly agreeing to him, leaving Jirobu devastated and couldn't speak.

Then just before he prepared another lie for a reply, Shu laughed. "You think anyone will believe you? for they see me as their god? Oh poor poor you. How poor! You little thing. Poor poor poor poooooor Jirobu!" Shu felt entirely different, like there was another person possesing him, smiling and laughing at Jirobu.

Shu walked towards the statue of the god and stood in front of it, its position identically similar to Shu's, like a splitting image of it. The people's eyes bulged at the heavenly scene in front of them, a scene they won't ever forget.

Shu's hood and cloak entirely flew off his body when his manipulated wind inside the temple blew away the petals of the flower offerings, the white rays of holy light emitted around Shu as the white petals danced around his godly breeze, the scene so grand, magical and yet somehow, mysterious and frightening.

Jirobu backed down, plodding his bottom down on the floor as he looked up to the majestic art in front of his eyes. "What's happening?!-"

'You are strong enough. Use your power.'

'Kill. Kill him. Kill him now. Don't hesitate.'

Shu then looked down, eyeing him from the floor. "Jirobu." His tone changed to something that will make your guts twist.

"I am no monster, for i am god." The wind bursted abruptly, their clothes and hair dancing along the sharp explosion of wind that passed through them and shattered the temple's panes.

'Kill him.'

With no conversations even engaged to each other, Jirobu felt the insanely strong aura Shu emits from his surroundings, a very numbing and intense shock making his flesh and bones feel very weak, he started choking on his breath, like every air was getting taken away from his body, like having the same feeling as drowning, yet slowly.

He began rambling off due to a confusing fear out of the person walking towards him. "You thought i really stood beside you as a friend? What a joke! I only did it for the money and to gain your trust so i could kill you off! A-and he way you cried for my help was ridiculously funny! I've always wanted to see you cry!"

Shu's mind was full of nothing but blood, trying not to burst his anger, trying to keep himself very calm, looking fairly composed. "I will ask you why." Why did he do such a thing to Shu? Why was he this type of person? Why did he did that to his mother? Why did he tried to kill him? Why do you hate me?

The vein's on Jirobu's forehead erupted, gnarling, "Why?! you're asking me why i don't like you?! Come on its you! Everyone's favorite! You're famous among the buskers at the underground city! Even though i first made busking my living, but everyone liked you more than they did for me! You, who came later than i did but everyone preferred you over me! Everyone asks for you but they pay no attention of me! I hate you because you're Shu! The perfect and all knowing Shu! You can do anything! You're brave and you stand up for the right without no fear of getting hurt! I hate how perfect you're living! Standing next to you makes me feel like a complete failure! I don't know anymore! I hate this!" Jirobu yelled with all his might, Shu's breathing seemed to increase its pace slowly.

Shu stopped walking in front of Jirobu and crouched down, leveling to his face to Jirobu's, he opened his mouth and clearly said, "You are a failure." Jirobu violet eyes trembled, unclear whether from anger, or from a terrible fear of the intense aura around Shu.

After their eyes met, Shu stood up. "There is no point to talk."

"Unreasonable excuses can't get my mercy. You will die."

With these words, a huge hole opened on Jirobu's head, his body slamming down the floor.

Shu stared down at Jirobu. "Oops. I accidentally opened a hole. Ah-ah, i wanted your suffering to be at least longer. I lost to my temper. Curses."

The people were too stunned to do anything at the scene unfolding right before their eyes, yet the second Shu smiled, each and one of the people inside the temple had escaped and sought a large distance between them and the temple, afraid to loose their dear life and ran away.

Shu looked at the bloody corpse before him, his brain and blood at the floor. Its the same face. The same type of face his mother wore before she died. He gripped his own clothes as his tears uncontrollably rolled down his cheeks, remembering the sweet moments he spent with his mother that now turned to be bitter and a painful feeling.

His jaws tightened, the feeling of anger arising towards the certain dead body laying down in front of him, and then he shouted loudly, pouring out all of his anger to the body lifelessly lying down.

The wind stirred up, blowing and twisting, and the moment Shu screamed his wrath to Jirobu, all the dangerous wind was focused on Jirobu's body, slashing his skin and flesh multiple times, his blood splattering to Shu's cheeks and clothes. Recalling the memories of Dan and his mother, he started wailing even louder, the statue slowly cracking and breaking, and everything around him blew up, his surroundings turning to be a real mess.

The house of god turned into a butchering place, Jirobu's body was slashed thousands of times, his flesh flying here and there, his organs out, and intestines cut several times, in the end, Jirobu's body we're left unrecognizable.

"You... YOU! YOU ROBBED MY MOM AND MY FRIEND'S LIFE!" Shu continued to slash him maniacally till his white bones showed.

Shu flung both his arms and slashed the air with his fingers, chopping Jirobu's neck away from the body with his powers. "Is this what you wanted to see?!"

"Are you happy now?!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

While he was in the middle of slashing away his anger, his ears perked with the sound of wood creaking. He stopped attacking the block of meat in front of him and placed down his hands, he cracked his neck and turned his head back, sniffing several scents of people.

"Ho?" He wiped his eyes to clear off the blood dripping at his eyelashes. When he turned around, he saw five of more people panting, as if fresh from running.

Shu smiled. "The rats finally came out."

"Boss!! Jirobu! Fuck!!!!" They were all dumbstruck, only recognizing the brutally slaughtered body by its clothes. They all trembled and shook, stepping back from the madman standing wet of Jirobu's blood before them. They all screamed away and tried to run, but something seemed to hold them inside the temple.

Shu flicked his finger back to him.

With this action, several men tripped and were mercilessly dragged by their feet back inside the temple. They kept screaming and crying, trying to crawl away from Shu. "Oh no no. I've used every drop of my mercy tonight. I cant let you fuckers live on after what you did to my mother and my friend."

"What?!" They all panicked as the heavy steps of Shu started to ring louder inside their heads, half of them crying, half of them screaming.

"All of you touched my mother didn't you."

"All of you were the underlings of Jirobu, arent you? You obeyed his orders and did terrible things to people."

"I can't ever, ever, forgive all of you for laying a hand on my family."

"I will never show you a drop of mercy."

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!"

Thus, he began with inflicting them with small cuts to the legs, like a child's penalty, and then larger and wider cuts, severing their veins and cutting off their muscles. "Each one of you shall die." Shu's face were almost calm, like a coldblooded person.

"Y-you m-monste—!"

"I am no monster, for i am god."

Following these heavy words were the swung of the wind, and the sharp slashes to each necks of Jirobu's subordinates, leaving their heads flying off, the bodies bursting blood.

' "Nothing good comes from initiating violence, you know that blood doesn't solve anything, but exchanging words do. Didn't your mother teach you not to fight others?" ' his memory reminded him as he scoffed on it.

"Wrong. Blood does solve everything."

He then sighed, looking at the cracked statue. "Mother, you should've taught me to not sympathize with others."

"If you've taught me not to love my enemies, maybe you whom i love wouldn't have died with the hands of my enemies."

He looked at his hands. "Those who live by hope, will be killed by despair."

And then he looked around him. "And those who despair, would be invincible to the pain of death."

With the things finally taken care of, he finally felt at ease. He bent down and picked up a wrapped offering for the god, he ripped the wrappings and took a huge bite at the warm bread oozing with cocoa which were offered at the foot of the statue. While munching on it hungrily, he looked up at the statue with the same identical eyes as him, and the blood at his cheeks and forehead spreading until they reach his lips, tasting both sweetness and rustiness of the bread and blood.

The dawn has arrived, the rain had ceased, and the people emptied the temple filled with warm corpses dipped in a pool of blood.

It only takes a second to break something,

but it takes days, or even years to fix..

But people are not things.

They can't be restored,

They'll always be damaged.

Once blood runs,

They will not be perfect anymore.

They will be dented and scarred,

They become ugly.

Ah. I want to go home.
