The Guardian

After crossing the river, they walked through the vast, dark woods again. They had a casual chat as they trekked.

"Do you know how to swim, Ley?" Gilbert asked her.

"No. I don't." Ashley answered as she leapt at a big root.

"What? And you still dared to swim in the river?"

"It's because..." Ashley couldn't finish her sentence. She realised her foolish act and felt embarrassed. "Stop," Evander commanded.

Gilbert and Ashley looked back at him. He then gestured for them to be quiet. The sound of the leaves shifting against each other as the foreboding wind blew made all of them feel on edge. They look around as Gilbert and Evan prepare their swords. Ashley picked up a long branch with a sharp point and prepared herself for the worst.

"Is it what I think?" Gilbert whispered. Evan nodded in response.

"Shit!" Gilbert cursed silently.
