The serpent shrieked and then charged with its mouth open wide at Evan. He dodged its attack immediately and aimed his sword at its body. But its scaly body was so hard as metal that he couldn't land a single cut. Then the serpent swung its tail towards Evan, which he dodged immediately.
"Tsk." Evan clicked his tongue, "It's tougher than I imagined."
Evan never thought he would meet this creature he had read about in history books. They called it 'The Guardian" since it had lived here in this forest for so long. Its massive, long body, parring with the giant trees, was proof. It was venomous and had a powerful sense of smell, sight, and hearing.
Some people believed that the Serpent River was its den and the one responsible for the whirlpools.
"Was it back when we were at the river?" Evan shook his head as he tried to focus. "No. It's not because of her."
