The two maids turned to him and saw him frowning. "Answer me. Why would Ashley be angry?" 

Mae bowed before answering, "T-that…We are just a lowly maid. I think you should hear it…from Her Highness directly."

"Let your companion speak and finish her words first," Evan insisted.

Mae slowly removed her hands from Annie's mouth. Then Evan looked at Annie, "Now, finished what you will say?"

Annie gulped as she looked at Evan, then glanced at Mae, who shook his head slightly. Then Annie looked at Evan again and breathed deeply.

"As I was saying, I hate seeing the Grand Duchess sad, so please don't upset her so much," Annie answered.

Evan sighed, "So she is upset after all." Evan nodded, "Alright. Both of you may go now."

Annie bowed at him, "Yes, Your Highness."

Then Annie and Mae walked away from him, leaving Evan deep in thought. Then he looked back, watched the two disappear, and walked towards his office.
