Chapter 2: Mysterious Stranger
"Please leave, we do not welcome any visitors!" Perseus shouted
"Where is father Jake?" the man asked
"The grave outside, I buried him there 4 years ago." Perseus replied "How'd you know who he is?"
"Just open the door and we'll talk"
"How am I sure that you're not gonna hurt me?"
"You can aim your taser gun at me as we talk"
Perseus then opened the door and let him in while holding the taser pointed right at him, after the stranger comes in, he locked the doors and turned to the stranger.
"What's your objective? Why are you here? And how do you know father Jake?"
"Slow down there, no ne-"
"Sit down over there and answer me or this taser might fire by itself"
"You are as rash as he says you are" he chuckled before sitting and taking off his robe, revealing who he was.
He was a man about 177cm tall, has brown eyes, black hair and light brown skin.
"I'm John Silver," he introduced himself "And I'm here to adopt you into our family"
"I'm in no time for jokes right now, I got spiritual beast that really doesn't mind eating human flesh you know"
"Wait seriously?" his facial expression changed
"Well now tell me how you know father Jake?"
"I've first met him when he saved my wife, Olivia, he was a knight, a very high ranked one at that" he answered "We owe him a favor, but then one day, out of the blue, he left to come here, saying that god told him it was his mission and in all his letters, he was talking about how he found you in a cradle left in front of the church and deciding to raise you"
"So he didn't tell you why he came to the buries?"
"No, he said that if he were to not write to us in a span of a year, we were to come here and pass on everything he possesses to you while my family adopt you into our family to resolve our debt" he explained
"It's been 4 years" Perseus pointed out
"We weren't allowed to come here, but right now we have some leeway" he answered
"How am I supposed to trust your words? And how do I even get I even with your help? I don't know if you noticed but we aren't exactly welcomed there"
"We'll vouch for you, and that way you can get in, I even have his letter, let me get it" he was about to take take something out but Perseus stopped him
"Stop right there" Perseus said before shouting to the back "Ace! Siege! come here!"
They then cautiously approached the 2.
"Search his pockets for this letter he's talking about" he ordered and they did as he asked
"You really don't trust me huh?" John said as he was being searched
"Well when father Jake died, I had no food and nothing, so I went begging for food and well let's just say tasers hurt more than I thought"
"But they're not supposed to use it unless you're a threat"
"Well not all of the enforcers think that way, they can just write some fake reports, so with no help I resorted to stealing, sometimes getting caught and beaten up in the process, but I had to survive somehow, escaping cells become a bit of a specialty of mine"
Ace then got the letter and ripped it.
"I'll read it so you don't have to turn away" Ace cleared his throat
"You got some smart companions" he smiled
"It's definitely his handwriting and that's also his signature" Siege observed
'Perseus, if you are reading this letter, it means that I am no longer alive. But fret not, the Silver family is very nice, they have promised to take care of you as one of their own.
'Your goal of living in rich kingdoms and empires will come through if you listen to them, my possessions that I have left will all go to you, Ace and Siege. You would no longer need to resort to food scraps in the year that I was gone. I treasured all the time we had together, I did not regret raising a talented boy like you, with your talents in Arcana and your genius alongside Siege and Ace, you would be able to live as comfortable as you wish.

"That's the old man alright" Perseus nodded "One last question, are the bigger families really planning to attack the buries?"
"Not that I know of," he shook her head "What makes you think so?"
Perseus then recounted what he has heard
"I see, the deadline is true, but my family is not involved in such attacks, we will guarantee your safety" he reassured "No wonder it looked like you were packing, but my family will not be powerful enough to stop such an attack, our influence isn't that big"
"Siege? Ace?"
"He's not lying, I can tell from his heart beat" Siege answered
Perseus then put his taser down.
"Alright, we'll trust you for now, so what do I need to do?" Perseus asked
"Please just pack the things you treasure most, we will have clothes, food and other necessities for you, here is a ring enchanted with a spatial rune, you will find it helpful" he handed me a ring "Since you can already use Arcana, you should be able to figure out how it works"
Perseus wore it and the only thing he put in the ring was a picture of him, Ace, Siege and father Jake and a camera.
"These are the only remaining object I have of father Jake" Perseus explained to the curious John
"I see" he replied sadly "He was a great man and I'm sorry for your loss"

"I thought your family isn't that big, but this house is huge!" Perseus commented
"We're only slightly richer than average, there are bigger ones, let's go meet your new parents and siblings" John ushered him in "Refer to me as your uncle from now on"
"Aren't they against a person from the buries living here? I understand you and your wife owing a debt but surely the reaction of the others would be different" Perseus replied
"Quite the contrary, they were the ones that volunteered, and your new brother looks more like you than you think" John chuckled "His hair is also kind of white, but not pure white like yours, which is very rare and you both share the same blue eyes, his is a bit on the lighter side though"
"Maybe you 2 are long lost siblings" Siege commented
"Let's go in, I'm very hungry right now" Ace then walked in first
"We have plenty of food, let's go my new nephew" John smiled
