Chapter 26: The Sports Festival

The day had finally arrived. The Sports Festival. The most anticipated sports event in the entirety of Japan, and one of the most popular in the whole world. Millions of people worldwide watched the festival every time. Heroes and civilians, quirk users and quirkless alike. Not only that, after every sports festival, there would always be lots of merchandise made out of things related to it, especially participants. That went especially for the one who wins the festival.

The students of UA were currently in the waiting room in their P.E. uniforms. All participants were not allowed to wear their costumes, as it would make it unfair for several participants. While they were waiting, Chikyu and Midoriya both were approached by Todoroki.

He gave a speech aimed towards the both of them that he would beat them and that he believed he was superior to them both.

Many students were surprised by his confrontation and tried to calm things down, but they were stopped by Chikyu's response. Well, it was less of a response and more of a threat.

"You sound extremely confident in yourself, Patches. Whether that comes from arrogance or truth is what I'm going to have to check for myself. But I'm warning you. If what you just said was hot air, there'll be absolute hell to pay, whether you get to the one-on-one fights or not. You better use over 100 percent of your effort from now on, otherwise I'll give you another scar to compliment the one over your eye"

The tension already present from Todoroki's statement had just risen so much more, especially from that last bit in Chikyu's response. It was obvious to everyone that the scar was something that would be sensitive for the bi-colored boy, and Chikyu just showed that he had absolutely zero problems using it to insult Todoroki.

The two had a stare-off for several seconds. Chikyu seemed to look forward to the idea of Todoroki giving him an excuse to attack him, and Todoroki looked like he was getting close to doing exactly that.

Before things could escalate even further, Class 1-A was called to enter the sports festival grounds. The two students exchanged glances for a few more seconds before going to said entrance.

The crowd went wild as the students of Class 1-A walked out. Similar cheers came when the rest of the classes arrived, but they weren't at the same intensity.

When all the classes had arrived, Midnight, the R-Rated Hero, told Chikyu to come up to the pedestal and give a speech.

As he made his way to the pedestal, he leaned over into the mic and gave his speech.

"I'm just going to get this out of the way right now. I'm going to win, and it's going to be easy."

Many frowns and disapproving gazes appeared, both from students and people in the crowd. Chikyu was clearly extremely cocky, and he didn't even consider it a possibility for any of the students to give him a challenge.

Not caring for their opinion, Chikyu continued.

"It'll be more accurate to call this a nationally broadcasted training session for the few weaklings who can make it to the one-on-ones without getting eliminated. I'm not even going to try and pretend that all of you might have a chance at making it. Most of you pushovers are going to get eliminated round one, so at least make it entertaining for all of those watching. The only ones who matter here are the ones who are above average enough to make it the one-on-ones. Let's hope that's as many as possible, I wouldn't want to win too quickly."

Silence for several seconds, before an eruption of anger and insults ensued. Chikyu had literally called them all trash on national broadcast. His entire speech was an insult, not one word of it contained any motivation for others or any of his hopes or goals. From start to finish, his whole speech was purely dedicated to calling them weak.

His class was the most upset of them all. Not only for what he said, but also because that gave the worst possible impression of 1-A possible to people who didn't know about the rest of them.

Desperately trying to move on from the terrible speech before the festival had even properly started, Midnight introduced the first event: Obstacle Race. The participants would have to race 4 kilometers around the stadium while simultaneously avoiding obstacles dedicated to slowing them down.

The participants gathered in front of the gate as told and waited for the countdown to end.

"3!"

Several students activated their quirks, ready to unleash them as soon as they were given the go.

"2!"

Gazes were exchanged between several students.

"1"

All students locked their gaze back in front of them.

"GO!"

An explosion of activity immediately took place, several students near the back getting slowed by the large crowd. At the front, Todoroki had frozen a large amount of the area, slowing those behind him and giving him a boost.

He wasn't ahead for even two seconds before he was swiftly surpassed by Chikyu using his earth ski move. The ground was torn completely behind him as he skied at blazing speeds.

The ice user tried to speed up as much as he could to try and catch up, but not only did he find it difficult to speed up anymore as is, but he also was suddenly faced with the problem of Katsuki Bakugou having caught up to him and attacking him, slowing his progress considerably.

Similarly, Katsuki was also trying to catch up to Chikyu, but a part of him felt it was impossible unless he got stuck at an obstacle, so he figured that until they came across an obstacle, he would at least try and cement second place by throwing Todoroki off.

While the two students were far behind, Chikyu finally came across the first obstacle. The robots from the Entrance Exam.

They weren't even a semblance of a problem. In fact, he skipped them altogether by skiing past them at blazing speeds, leaving them to the rest of the participants. He saw no reason to stop just to fight them when he could just go past them and do better compared to if he stayed.

The other students hadn't even reached the robots before Chikyu came across the next obstacle, The Fall. It was a canyon with a tightrope leading across. Chikyu skipped the tightrope entirely and manipulated the stone pillars dotting the canyon and extended roads from them that he used to ski across effortlessly, taking down the roads as soon as he crossed so as not to let the others cross the same way.

Only now had the other students reached the robots, and they were dealt with swiftly. Todoroki froze a zero pointer and went past it, but made it fall to obstruct the other students. Bakugou flew over them with small explosions, Kirishima and Tetsutetsu endured the crush of the robot, etc.

They were clearly still far behind though, as Chikyu had already reached the last obstacle: The Mine Field, the details of which were self-explanatory. Chikyu slowed down at the part and put his hands on the ground, sensing what was underneath straight ahead of him. As he saw where all the mines were, he skied around all of them and finally reached the finish line, becoming the first to pass.

The next to pass were Izuku, Todoroki, Bakugou, Ibara and so on. Aoyama was the last to pass. All the ones who passed after him were eliminated.

Midnight introduced the next game: Cavalry Battles. Participants would have to form a team of 4 in a horse configuration and protect headbands given to them that were worth points based on their position in the first game. As she announced that Chikyu was worth 10 million points due to being first, everyone turned to glare at him. He met the glares with a cocky smirk, basically telling them "try it".

As participants made teams, Chikyu did the same. The first person he went to recruit was Shoji.

Tapping the shoulder of the tall student, he was answered with no more than an affirmative nod.

The next person he went to recruit was Ibara. Tapping her shoulder, he was answered with another affirmative nod.

The last person he took was Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu. He was answered with a loud "Yeah!" instead of the previous silent nods, as expected.

As they got into position and got ready, moments passed as other teams were made. After a while, everyone was ready, and they were waiting on the signal.

"3!"

All gazes were fixated on Chikyu's headband worth 10 million.

"2!"

Some students "revved up" their quirks, ready to unleash them and go straight after the cocky 1-A student.

"1!"

Everyone got ready to bombard Chikyu, as they knew that if they had his headband alone, they were guaranteed to pass.

"GO!"

Every single team charged straight towards Chikyu's team, dead set on getting his headband and securing their win.

Before they could get close, Chikyu raised a sphere of earth around his team, protecting them. Several students did their best to destroy the sphere, but as soon as any damage showed on it, it was repaired by more earth each time, essentially making it a pointless task.

Having already eliminated the chance of anyone taking his headband, the other teams wisely decided that they would just go after the other teams and try their best to pass.

-Small time skip-

The end of the second round had arrived. The winners were Chikyu's team in first place, Todoroki's team in second place, Bakugou's team in third place, Shinso's team in fourth and Izuku's team in fifth.

Izuku's team would have been eliminated for being in fifth, but due to the unexpected withdrawal of all of Shinso's team except for Shinso himself, his team was allowed to advance.

Before the third round began, Present Mic introduced some recreational side games. Chikyu decided not to take part in them, calling them a waste of time. Most of his classmates, however, happily took part in them.

Ibara was somewhat saddened when she saw Chikyu's attitude towards pretty much everything during this festival. It was hard for her to believe that this was the same person who she shared a passionate conversation with at her mother's nursery. First of all, his opening speech was already the biggest contrast to her that she never would have expected. Then came his reaction to some fun recreational games and going as far as to call them idiotic.

After the recreational games were concluded, the most anticipated game had finally arrived. The most exciting part of every Sports Festival each time.

The one-on-one fights. The fighting bracket was revealed for the first round.

Izuku Midoriya vs Hitoshi Shinso

Shoto Todoroki vs Hanta Sero

Denki Kaminari vs Ibara Shiozaki

Chikyu Tsuchikawa vs Mezo Shoji

Tenya Iida vs Mei Hatsume

Yuga Aoyama vs Mina Ashido

Fumikage Tokoyami vs Momo Yaoyorozu

Ejiro Kirishima vs Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu

Katsuki Bakugou vs Ochaco Uraraka

(Gonna skip all the way to Chikyu vs Shoji. I'm not writing this shit just to rewrite canon that you already know)

After Ibara's victory over Kaminari, it came time for Chikyu's fight against Shoji, the only student that he went out of his way to talk to so far. The two had established a basic bond. Not exactly friends, but definitely friendly acquaintances. They at least enjoyed each other's presence, that was for sure.

However, that didn't mean that Chikyu would hold back against him. It, in fact, meant the complete opposite. Chikyu despised the very thought of an acquaintance of his being weak.

What he said during his speech wasn't only meant to provoke the participants. The part where he said that it would be more of a training session for those that made it to the one-on-one fights was true. He was going to give them a live training session and force them to improve on the spot, be it with their quirk or their combat.

As the two participants made their way to the ring, Present Mic started hyping them both up to excite the audience even further.

"ALRIGHT FOLKS, IT'S TIME FOR THE FOURTH FIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND!! ON THE LEFT, WE'VE GOT THE YOUNGEST MEMBER OF CLASS 1-A, MEZO SHOJI!! AND ON THE RIGHT, WE'VE GOT THE STUDENT WHO MADE THE PROVOKING SPEECH AT THE START OF THE FESTIVAL, CHIKYU TSUCHIKAWA!!", he yelled.

The crowd roared in excitement. A huge majority of the crowd was super eager to see if the confidence of Chikyu was well placed or not.

"3, 2, 1"

Chikyu and Shoji made eye contact with each other, getting ready in their own ways. Shoji duplicated some eyes to even further increase his vision and reaction time with them. He also opted to duplicate some ears to increase hearing, just in case.

Chikyu, however, got into a strange stance. One hand near his face, the other near his waist, his legs close to each other with his right leg slightly more at the front than the left leg.

Both fighters now ready, the countdown finished.

"FIGHT!"

Shoji was the first the make a move, choosing to rush at Chikyu as fast as he could. Chikyu simply decided to let him come close, still staying in his strange stance.

As Shoji drew close to Chikyu, he threw a punch with his right arm aimed towards Chikyu's chest, which he thought was exposed thanks to the stance he chose. However, his attack was blocked by the hand near his waist grabbing his hand.

He retaliated by swinging his left arm to his chest again, now that the hand closest to it was occupied, but it ended the same way as his right: His hand was caught and grabbed by Chikyu's other hand.

Shoji resorted to trying to simply physically overpower him by pushing with all of his might, hoping to push him out of bounds and win that way. He was swiftly stopped by a high kick to the chin from Chikyu. The kick made Shoji stumble back several times before he managed to stabilize himself once again.

"First weakness: Atrocious melee skill. You've got the most base physical strength out of everyone in the class, but you have absolutely no skill when it comes to properly and efficiently using that strength. You just throw a sloppy punch and hope that it hits your target.", Chikyu commented.

Shoji, unlike many of the other students, had seen something like this coming. He knew that there were some truths in his speech during the start of the festival, and the "training session" part stuck out to him, so he wasn't too surprised when Chikyu started coaching him in the middle of the fight.

He took what Chikyu said and thought about it. He was absolutely right in his criticism. He wasn't martially skilled in any way, shape, or form. It was one of his biggest weaknesses, one that he just now noticed due to finally being pitted against someone who could contend with his strength. Not just contend against it, but actually beat it.

This time, Chikyu was the one to make a move. His leg muscles tensed, and all of a sudden, he was gone.

[Bo-Bup]

(Words in those types of brackets will be used to illustrate the name of a move that was used. Also, he doesn't say these words out loud or think of their name They're just the name of the moves.

Shoji was confused. Focusing fully on his enhanced senses due to the new organs, he tried to make sense of where Chikyu went. He made more organs to try and help.

Amidst his search, he was surprised by a sudden weight on his shoulders. Looking over, he saw feet. Chikyu's feet.

Chikyu jumped off of Shoji's shoulders and landed in front of him.

"Second weakness: You haven't trained your base senses at all, and rely completely on your enhanced ones when you use your quirk. The better your regular instincts, the better they'll be when enhanced. Right now, you were overwhelmed by my speed because your senses fell short of what you would need to have seen what just happened.", he commented once more.

Once again, Shoji took the advice to heart. He knew he was supposed to win, but he also knew that this was all very solid advice, so he saw no reason to ignore it because of some stupid thing like pride.

Before he could make any further move, he felt a sudden crushing blow to his stomach, sending him flying back out of the ring. He got his answer as to what it was when he looked at the ring and saw Chikyu with his right fist outstretched in a way as to punch someone in the gut.

"Third weakness. You stay idle way too much. I had hundreds of opportunities to attack you while you stayed idle and thought of a strategy during the fight, I just chose to take that opportunity this time. You have to strategize while being on the move. And with that, my advice session for you is over.", he said.

The crowd cheered once the match was concluded. They, as well as the participants and teachers watching, were surprised that Chikyu was coaching his opponent on their weaknesses instead of taking them out instantly like he said he could.

"AND WITH THAT, FOLKS, THE FOURTH FIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND IS OVER, AND CHIKYU IS THE WINNER AFTER PULLING THE SURPRISING MOVE OF COACHING HIS CLASSMATE! IS THIS HIS ACT OF KINDNESS, OR IS IT SOMETHING ELSE, FOLKS?! EITHER WAY, THE WINNER IS CHIKYU TSUCHIKAWA!", Present Mic commented.

Chikyu made his way back to the stands along with Shoji to watch the rest of the fights until his turn came again in the second round.

-Skipping all the canon fights since they all have the same result as canon-

It was now the quarter-finals. Since there were now an odd number of participants, a compromise was reached regarding Chikyu. Whoever won round three would be the one who would fight Chikyu. As such, these were the fights.

Izuku Midoryia vs Shoto Todoroki

Tenya Iida vs Ibara Shiozaki

Fumikage Tokoyami vs Mina Ashido

Winner Of Round Three vs Chikyu Tsuchikawa

Katsuki Bakugou vs Ejiro Kirishima

-Skipping all canon fights up until Tokoyami easily wins the third round because he's built different-

Since Tokoyami was the winner of the third round, he was to be pitted against Chikyu after he got some rest. Chikyu would wait outside the ring in the meantime.

During the rest period, Chikyu lamented the fact that he couldn't be put against Ibara. He would have liked to be able to help her with her weaknesses. He settled on challenging her to a fight some other time outside the tournament so that he could do it, but he knew that she likely wouldn't accept it if it was extended to her specifically. So he made a plan that would be seen as batshit crazy by everyone if he said it out loud.

He would fight all of Class-1B by himself. She was in that class, and so she would have to join the fight if they were challenged. And he already knew that lots of them felt inferior to Class 1-A, so it would be easy to provoke them all into a fight.

As his thoughts reached their conclusion, he saw Tokoyami walking out to the ring. Seeing that it was time to fight, he walked to the ring as well, stepping in at the same time.

"AND HERE WE HAVE THE FOURTH ROUND OF THE QUARTER-FINALS! ON THE LEFT WE HAVE THE BROODING STUDENT, FUMIKAGE TOKOYAMI, WHO'S BEEN WINNING ALL HIS MATCHES EASILY! AND ON THE RIGHT, WE HAVE THE STUDENT WHO TOOK THE TIME DURING HIS FIGHT TO SCHOOL HIS FELLOW CLASSMATE, CHIKYU TSUCHIKAWA!", Present Mic yelled.

Tokoyami was wary of Chikyu. His fight against Shoji was completely one-sided and clear-cut. The only reason Shoji lasted more than 5 seconds was because Chikyu instead decided to coach him for most of the match as opposed to actually fighting him.

Part of him wished that he would also get some advice since Chikyu obviously knew what he was talking about. But most of him wished to win the fight instead.

"3,2,1,FIGHT!", Present Mic called out.

Tokoyami immediately took the initiative and sent Dark Shadow to swipe at Chikyu's position. Before Dark Shadow reached him, Chikyu tensed his legs and disappeared, just like he did during his fight with Shoji.

[Bo-Bup]

He appeared behind Tokoyami.

"First weakness: Your attacks with Dark Shadow are extremely predictable, and therefore easier to dodge or counter. Think of different combinations and feints you could potentially use with him on the fly and use the ones you come up with.", Chikyu commented, once again giving advice to his opponent.

Tokoyami silently took in the advice and tried to apply it immediately. He sent Dark Shadow out, but instead of making him attack right away, he feinted some slashes and sent a proper one when Chikyu took the bait and dodged the feints.

Chikyu smirked and, to the surprise of Tokoyami as well as everyone watching, decided to take the attack instead of trying to block or dodge.

A large dust cloud covered the area as Dark Shadow slashed downwards towards Chikyu, slamming the ground in the process. When the dust partially cleared, Tokoyami and the onlookers were all shocked when they saw Chikyu completely fine. As the dust completely cleared, they could see that Chikyu was covered in a thin layer of earth all over his body. He had used it as armor.

[Geo Armor]

"Second weakness: Dark Shadow is severely weakened in the sunlight. I overheard it when you were talking to Izuku during the Cavalry battles. Unless you find a way to make "portable darkness", this'll almost always be a huge handicap. I recommend asking for something to the Support class.", Chikyu suggested.

Tokoyami was surprised at the solid solution to his greatest weakness. Sure, he didn't know if it was doable yet, but it was the best suggestion he had ever gotten in regards to it. But that was something that would have to wait until after the festival.

Before he could try and attack again, Chikyu appeared directly in front of him and made his move. He lowered himself extremely low and did a spin kick at the same time, attacking Tokoyami's legs, tripping him into the air.

[Lowest Hwechook]

(An illustration of what Lowest Hwechook looks like for those who haven't read the God Of Highschool webtoon. You should really read it, by the way. It's completely free)

Before Tokoyami even touched the ground, Chikyu kicked his still airborne body in the side, launching him what would have been out of bounds if it wasn't for Chikyu catching him just at the edge of the ring.

Those two attacks alone had completely destroyed him. He was barely hanging on. He simply wasn't built to take lots of damage. He was made to deal lots of it.

"Two more weaknesses just from that. Third weakness: You possess no combat skills outside of Dark Shadow, and any enemy who manages to breach your space could easily deal with you. Heavily consider taking some close combat classes. Fourth weakness: Your body is extremely weak. I was holding back so much power in my attacks there, but you were still done for in two hits. Do several exercises daily to strengthen your body.", he advised.

When he finished giving his advice, he dropped Tokoyami outside of the ring, letting him go from the grip he had on him.

"AND THE WINNER OF THE FOURTH ROUND OF THE QUARTER FINALS IS CHIKYU TSUCHIKAWA!", Present Mic yelled.

-Skipping to the semi-finals now, since the rest of the quarter-finals go as canon-

It was now close to the last round of the festival, the finals. Four fighters remained: Shoto Todoroki, Tenya Iida, Katsuki Bakugou, and Chikyu Tsuchikawa. The rounds were as follows.

Shoto Todoroki vs Tenya Iida

Katsuki Bakugou vs Chikyu Tsuchikawa

-Obviously skipping Shoto vs Iida. We all know Shoto won-

It was now time for Chikyu and Bakugou to fight. Both fighters were ready on opposite ends just outside the ring, waiting for the go. When they got it, they walked up into the ring, eyes dead set on each other. Bakugou sported an intense glare, Chikyu responding with a cocky smirk.

"ON THE LEFT, WE HAVE THE TEMPERAMENTAL EXPLOSIVE STUDENT OF CLASS 1-A, KATSUKI BAKUGOU! AND ON THE RIGHT WE HAVE THE STUDENT WHO FOR SOME REASON HAS DECIDED TO SPEND MOST OF HIS MATCHES COACHING HIS FELLOW CLASSMATES, CHIKYU TSUCHIKAWA! WHICH ONE OF THESE POWERFUL STUDENTS WILL FINALLY KICK THE BUCKET, AND WHICH ONE OF THEM WILL GO TO THE FINAL ROUND? WE'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE IN THE LAST FIGHT OF THE SEMI-FINAL ROUND, FOLKS!". Present Mic yelled.

"You've been acting real cocky so far, freak! Coaching your opponents instead of takin' them out immediately. And let's not forget that speech you made at the start of the festival! You think you're invincible, don't you?", Bakugou said.

"Oh, it's not that I think I'm invincible. It's just that all of you are somehow so pathetically weak despite managing to get into UA. I mean, I haven't even used my quirk yet in any of my matches. Such a shame too, I worked pretty hard developing new moves to test out here, but if I use them, they're so weak that it'd kill them.", Chikyu responded, essentially completely insulting everyone he had fought. He spoke loud enough for the speakers to catch what he said too.

As his words reached the entire stadium, that made it the second time he insulted every participant of the festival. The ones who had been put against him specifically, Tokoyami and Shoji, now knew why he didn't even use his quirk. Because it would have killed them.

Funnily enough, that was basically the closest thing to care and concern that Chikyu ever gave. It was basically his unique way of saying "I didn't want to hurt them too badly"

"3,2,1"

Chikyu and Bakugou got ready to fight. Chikyu got into his fighting stance from his fight with Shoji, and Bakugou started popping off small explosions to get himself ready.

"FIGHT"

Bakugou launched himself at Chikyu at incredible speeds by blasting behind himself. When he got close, he put his right hand forward and tried to blast Chikyu's entire body with an explosion. Just before he got to do so, his reaching arm was grabbed.

Chikyu grabbed the arm with the other hand and spun, letting go midway and throwing Bakugou back still using the momentum from when he launched himself.

"Weakness number 1. Your attacks are obvious and telegraphed. You also pretty much never make use of the strongest part of the body: the legs. Most of the time when you try and go for melee you exclusively go for punches, and those are telegraphed as well.", Chikyu commented.

"SHUT UP!", Bakugou yelled, blasting to him again, coming from above this time and blasting while up in the air to get an extra boost of speed.

Right before he got Chikyu, Chikyu narrowly dodged by jumping back.

"Weakness number 2. All your attacks are large range and that results in you getting tired quicker. Use smaller blasts when you need to and only use bigger attacks if you're sure that your enemy will get hit by all of it.", he commented again.

Before Bakugou could get pissed again and try another attack, Chikyu disappeared and reappeared in front of him.

[Bo-Bup]

Right after reappearing, he raised his left leg up as high as it could go and brought down at blazing speeds, hitting Bakugou right on the head, the power behind the strike making his entire body hit the floor.

[Heaven And Earth Strike]

(Illustration of what Heaven And Earth Strike looks like. It's been countered in the pic, but just know that it's basically an axe kick)

Despite severely holding back, the move did incredible damage to Bakugou. It took him several seconds to reorient himself from the hit to the head and then get back on his feet.

Not playing around anymore, Chikyu went in on Bakugou, raining a combo of punch after punch on him, each hit knocking him back more and more until he was knocked off of the ring.

[Torrential Strike]

(Illustration of Torrential Strike. The one using it in this image is Dan Mori, but the original user is Illpyo Park, and he does use it a few times)

"Your biggest weakness of all that you showed almost as soon as the fight began: Your temper. You can barely handle normal conversation, but it gets even worse when you face anything negative. Instead of listening to the advice I gave, you lost your shit and tried to attack. Until you deal with this, you'll always stay mediocre like you are now.", Chikyu said to the badly beaten and bleeding student.

The only reason Bakugou didn't say anything back was because he had been beaten black and blue from the punch combo and if he tried to talk, he would end up hurting himself much more. Medical staff rushed onto the scene.

All the onlookers were shocked at just how badly Chikyu had beaten Bakugou. You would swear that Chikyu had something personal against him, but from what they knew, he didn't.

-Time-skip of a few minutes-

It was now time for the final fight, the final round.

Chikyu Tsuchikawa vs Shoto Todoroki

Both fighters waited outside the ring, and once they were given the go, they entered.

"ON THE LEFT WE HAVE THE ICY STUDENT OF CLASS 1-A WHO'S BEEN STEAMROLLING THROUGH HIS ROUNDS SO FAR, SHOTO TODOROKI! ON THE RIGHT WE HAVE OUR COACHING FIGHTER, CHIKYU TSUCHIKAWA! WHO WILL WIN THE FINAL ROUND AND BE DECLARED THE WINNER OF THE FIRST-YEAR SPORTS FESTIVAL? IT'S TIME TO FIND OUT, FOLKS!", Present Mic commented as usual.

The two students stared silently at each other, no words exchanged between them.

"3,2,1, FIGHT!"

Todoroki went all in right at the start, doing the same thing he did to Sero and sending a gigantic blast of ice towards Chikyu, covering half the stadium.

To the shock of everyone, Chikyu blasted a giant hole in the ice structure with a powerful punch that made a blast of wind just from the sheer power of it.

[1st Stance: Fist Of The Black Turtle]

(Illustration. It's called Basaltic fist here, but it is also called Fist Of The Black Turtle sometimes, and that fits better since the other stances are also named after the directional beasts of China)

Having basically just wasted a lot of energy in an attack for nothing, Todoroki desperately began to think of some strategies to win. He had seen how easily Chikyu had won his previous matches. He absolutely toyed with his opponents, to the point where him taking the time to literally coach his enemies did nothing to lessen his chances of winning.

His first thought that he was sure of was that he couldn't give Chikyu any breathing room. He skated towards Chikyu after freezing the entire ring, at the same time hoping that it would upset his balance.

He didn't look bothered whatsoever.

"Oh come on, that's your plan? Make the ring an ice rink? Sorry Patches, but that's easy to account for", he mocked, showing that he used the material that the ring was made of, shaped them into the blades that are put on ice skating shoes, and telekinetically attached them to his shoes.

Todoroki ignored his comments and started blasting ice at him from every angle as he skated around the bored-looking teen in circles. Chikyu either dodged or destroyed every single one with ease. For some, he didn't even use his strong punch from earlier and just hit them normally but still ended up breaking the ice into several pieces.

"First weakness: If an enemy can deal with your ice, you're basically fucked. They'll easily be able to kill you if this is all you can do. But there's something you're hiding. I know it for a fact.", Chikyu commented.

Todoroki stopped for several seconds and glared at Chikyu and at someone watching from the stadium. Chikyu followed his gaze and saw his favorite hero: Endeavor.

"Ah, lemme guess. He's your dad and part of him is related to your quirk, but for whatever reason, you hate him and refuse to use it.", he guessed.

"How did you know?!", Todoroki asked, shocked.

"More common than you think. Lots of parents have a rocky relationship with their kids, and a big part of it often also has something to do with the kid's quirk. I've seen it a few times before. Yours is one of the few when it isn't because the parent hates the kid's quirk, where it's actually the other way 'round.", Chikyu responded to his shocked classmate.

Todoroki stayed in silence for a few moments, hatefully glaring at his old man, before turning back to Chikyu.

"He's a scumbag. He beat me in the name of "training" to be the best future hero. Every time my mother tried to get him to stop, he beat her. Because of that, I refuse to use his power. I'll prove to him that I don't need his power to become the greatest hero! I'll only use my mother's side!", he explained to Chikyu.

Once again, the scene was basked in silence for several seconds. The two students stared at each other, not saying a word. Until Chikyu responded.

He laughed.

He laughed like he had heard an incredible joke. That laughter eventually turned into maniacal laughter.

The people from the stadium weren't able to hear what Todoroki said, but they knew that it was something heavy for him, so they were curious how Chikyu would react to a fellow classmate spilling some of their problems to him during a fight. The last thing they ever expected was for him to laugh like he heard the best joke of his life.

Todoroki was also shocked, and that shock turned into anger quickly.

"That's your reason for not using the other part of your quirk? That's some of the stupidest shit I've heard in a LONG time! Hahahaha!", Chikyu continued to laugh.

"What would you know?! You definitely didn't come from a household anything like that, so what can you say on it?!", Todoroki yelled, angered.

"So you're saying that you'll reject the power to save potentially thousands of people because part of it is from your mean ol' daddy? Haha!", he continued to laugh.

The only one who the stadium could hear properly was Chikyu because of how loud he was yelling his words. Even though Todoroki was yelling as well, his yelling volume was far below Chikyu's, so it got drowned out.

"That power is yours, you fucking idiot! Your quirk isn't your mother's or your father's! It's two different things combined to make one, and that one is yours! Your ice isn't your mother's ice, your fire isn't your father's fire! Get that through that thick skull of yours before I bash it open to let all your dumbassery out!", Chikyu yelled, no longer laughing and even louder this time.

Despite the... thuggish words at the end, Todoroki was surprised by the genuine advice from Chikyu. He contemplated it for several seconds before shakily bringing his left hand up, and after even more seconds, it summoned bright orange flames.

Endeavor went on a tirade of how he was finally accepting his power, but it was ignored by the two students. They were now on their game. Well, Todoroki was. Chikyu still looked bored, just a bit less so compared to before.

Todoroki sent a torrent of flames towards Chikyu, melting the ice in its path. Chikyu dodged each blast of fire easily, the difference between when he was dodging the ice now being that he couldn't punch the fire to make it go away.

Finally reaching Todoroki, Chikyu punched him in the gut with a regular punch, which still severely damaged Todoroki.

"Second weakness: Your body is weak when it comes to actually taking lots of damage. You're more made to try and deal lots of it thanks to your quirk. Just like Tokoyami.", Chikyu commented, back to the coaching.

He purposefully let him recover a bit and got in his personal space and forced him to try and fight him melee by hitting his arms whenever he tried to use his quirk. Obviously, he absolutely dominated him in close combat and he didn't get hit once.

"Third weakness: Atrocious close combat skill, like most of the participants. I know you're made to deal damage with your quirk, but it's stupid to leave such big weaknesses like this when they could be patched.", he said.

Finally satisfied with what he managed to accomplish, Chikyu ended the match by using the same punch combo that he used on Bakugou to get Todorki close to the edge of the ring and got him out of the ring with one last punch in the gut.

[Torrential Strike]

"THE WINNER OF THE FINAL ROUND IS CHIKYU! CHIKYU TSUCHIKAWA IS THE WINNER OF THE FIRST YEAR SPORTS FESTIVAL!!", Present Mic yelled.

The stadium roared with cheers and applause. They didn't like him at the start because they thought he was just some kid who was too cocky and overcompensated for the power that he actually had with talk, but with what they had seen, it was the opposite. His speech failed to do justice to what he could do.

-Skipping to the award ceremony because it's been 10 days since I've started writing this and I wanna get it done-

All Might was the one who gave the medals to the participants of the sports festival.

Bakugou was absolutely livid at getting third place and had been restrained. He tried to get rid of the bronze medal, but All Might basically made him bite it.

Todoroki told All Might that he aspired to be more like him compared to his father, and accepted the silver medal.

"And as for you, young Chikyu! You did incredible! Why, you did even better than me when I was in UA! You truly went Plus Ultra, young man! You have truly made yourself worthy of this gold medal!", All Might said, putting the gold medal around Chikyu's neck. Chikyu also accepted the hug from him.

"AND WITH THAT, FOLKS, IS THE END OF THE FIRST YEAR SPORTS FESTIVAL! THE WINNER: CHIKYU TSUCHIKAWA!"

(HOLY FUCK, FUCKING FINALLY. I AM NEVER ADAPTING AN ENTIRE ARC IN ONE CHAPTER EVER AGAIN.)

(For my old readers: Do you think my writing has improved? I think so, but I'm curious what you all think)
