Chapter 3

My time with Summer has been interesting. Learning about the humans and their way of life is so foreign to me. Still I make progress, and eventually even she is happily surprised at my understanding. I guess part of 'his' blessing was an alteration to how I think so I can deal with being around humans, as well as Faunus. Well that, and all of the memories that flowed between me and her. Yes, even she has learned of my own past. I even felt her sympathy at the loss of my pack….family.

Combat training is something new to me also. Normally I'd let my instincts lead the way. Still, fighting Grimm is nothing like hunting for food or defending our territory. I'm now at the point where Beowolves, and Ursa are no challenge anymore. Being able to channel my aura into my fangs means I can deal serious damage, and my aura-enhanced abilities make it almost too easy to fight small groups.

When my semblance unlocked for the first time, it was a bit of a shock. I had hunted a pack of eight Ursa just outside of the port on Patch, and was getting a bit too cocky. Having already killed five, I decided to play with the others. I was having fun until a dodge of a charge from one landed me in the path of a large paw slap from another, launching me towards a large tree in some deeper shadows. As I was expecting the impact of the trunk, I instead dove into the shadows, and appeared behind one of the other survivors. Shocked as I was, Summer's warning snapped me out in time to dodge another swipe, only to watch as tendrils of shadow wrapped around it's limbs. Channeling aura into my claws, I leap into the air, and with a swipe of my paw am able to take out it's throat. Kicking off the shoulder of the newly dead, I launched again into the air to latch onto the neck of the next. Tearing again with all my improved strength, something that took some getting used to, I actually manage to rip the head clean off it's shoulders. Riding the body to the ground as it collapses, I square off with the last. Growling loudly in challenge I detect a familiar scent. Directing my will to trapping the last ursa, I direct more tendrils to cling to it's legs. Charging forwards, I dodge to the right as it tries to hit me. Getting a different idea, I leap into the shadow of a tree, and exit underneath it. Tearing into both legs, I drop it to the ground, then kill it with another bite to the throat. Turning around, I start to sniff the air, trying to find that scent again. As I find my trail I hear a voice for the first time.

"Ok that's something I never thought I'd see."

As I face the speaker I suddenly freeze, and again after how much time Blue and red eyes look into silver as I see the not so little girl I once saved.

"I know it's you. I remember how my sister described you. How can you still be alive after all this time? You can't be a normal wolf, it's impossible with the way you fought."

*Oh my little Flower, it is really her.*

I can feel Summers longing to hold her. In fact it is strong enough that I actually start to approach her. I look her over carefully as I walk, noting how she's grown, the added red to her otherwise black hair.

"Ruby! Where did you run off to! Our ride is to school is almost here."

Bursting through the trees comes the other one from that night. Hair of sunlight has definitely gotten bigger as well. Purple eyes open wide as she takes in the scene before her. Ruby is staring at the largest white wolf she has ever seen, with the bodies of dead grimm all around.

"Yang, is that the same wolf from that night, the one that saved us?"

*Oh my god, my little Dragon as well! Oh how I've missed you both!*

Cringing a bit as Summer yells into my head, I slowly back away from the two girls.

"This shouldn't be possible. No normal wolf could live this long."

Turning around, and taking in the Grimm corpses, she looks back at me, shock written on her face.

"You've been here this whole time haven't you?"

Looking at them both I nod my head slowly in response.

"Are you watching us? Why are you here?"

"Yang, you actually expect an answer from him? I'm pretty sure he can't speak." Ruby starts to giggle at the idea. Blushing a bit at her sister's teasing, she looks at her with a frown. "I know that, I was thinking out loud is all."

Taking the distraction as an opportunity, I back into the shadow of some trees, and 'jump' away out of sight. I watch from behind some trees as the girls look around trying to find me. After a bit Yang grabs Ruby's arm and starts to drag her back to the platform.

"Goodbye...Silvermane. Thanks for saving us those years ago."

"Why are you calling him that Ruby?" Yang asked her. " simple did you see the silver fur that went from his head to mid back. That's why."

*You know she has a good idea there* Summer says to me.

*It works for me, guess I have a name now.* With that I turn and walk off into the forest.
