It had been a long night for me. I was worried about another attack while they were on their way back. So much so that I secretly followed them all the way to the boarder! I felt like a complete stalker. But for some reason I was strangely protective of that little boy.
'It is in our nature Mistress.' I gasp as the hentle voice in my head echos slightly.
"S-Shade?!" My voice broke and my vision blurred. Shade. My dragon. Soft laughter fills my head and the tears fell heavy.
'Hello again Mistress.' A smile spreads across my face as I wipe away my tears quickly.
"How are you awake?" Laughter fills my head again.
'You do not have to speak out load Mistress. It's because you feel something other than pain. Your need to protect was stronger than your pain!'
I inhale several calming breaths. Shade was back. After seven years I could hear her again! I clear my throat and look around. No one was near by so that was good. I didn't have to deal with someone thinking that I had lot my mind.
I continue walking and Shade hummed softly to let me know she was still there. I had made it to the training grounds when my mouth drops open at a pure silver land dragon. Without much thought I sprint to it. It was over six feet tall and had had icy blue eyes.
My smile widens at the sight of the saddle. Selene stood near it almost frowning. She was holding a piece of paper.
"Where did this come from?" Selene turns toward me and smirks. I didn't like when she smirked. It meant that she was up to something.
"This came for you early this morning along with this letter." I snatch the piece of paper and unfold it.
Freya,
As a thank you for protecting my son from your own flesh and blood. I am gifting you with Silva. He is a rare land dragon. The only one left of his kind...like you. I can not think of a better person to give him to. He reminds me of your eyes. I am forever grateful to you little dragon.
Astor Bane.
My cheeks felt hot. What the helll was this?!
'He likes you Mistress.' I glare at nothing because I can't physically glare at Shade! I glance up at Selene and she had moved closer to me and her was grinning like an idiot!
"By The Goddess you can blush." My jaw sets and in one quick movement I jab her quickly in the stomach making her groan loudly and gasp for air.
I turn my attention back to the land dragon. Slowly I reach out and let my hand run along his scales. They were smooth. I felt myself smiling. I had always wanted a land dragon.
Father had refused because he thought with how high their speeds could get it would be dangerous for me. But Mother's dragon was black with Silver eyes she was beautiful. I was jealous that my mother had one and I didn't. She even agreed with father that I didn't need one at such a young age.
"Hello Silva. I'm Freya." I giggle as it almost sounds like he purrs in response to me. This was the best gift that I could ever ask for.
'Do you not think you should thank him?' I groan at Shade. Of course she would have to ruin the moment by saying something.
Honestly though did I have to?! Our first meeting was a bit awkward. He seemed to be on edge and I felt like his emerald orbs were staring straight into my soul. It was completely uncomfortable.
"What in Goddess name?!" I turn toward my brother's voice with a smile.
"His name is Silva and he is mine!" Niko frowns and glances down at the letter.
"And who is silva from?" Selene giggles. I raise my fist toward her and she runs off. Shaking my head I turn my attention back to Niko. Who was smirking.
"King Astor I can presume?" I bite down on the inside of my cheek.
"A thank you gift for protecting his son." He eyes the land dragon one more time before his expression turns hard.
"He will come in handy then. Reports of more attacks near the Moon Temple. They are snatching children of noble blood. And from what I notice it is children who show an afinity for one of the elements. I want you and the Elite Guard to head over there for a few days and see what happens!" I found myself squaring my shoulders and a give a stiff bow.
Kidnapping? Why would they try and take Luca? I couldn't sense an element within him.
'It is bound. Probably by the boy's mother.' I scrunch my face for moment and then I felt hands clamp down on my shoulders. I look up and My brother was staring wide eyed at my face.
"I know that face! Shade has returned?!" He was smiling now. I let out a clipped sigh and shake off his hands. He didn't miss a thing.
"Yes. She's here. She said something about her being able to wake up was because I felt something other than pain? That my need to protect was greater than my pain?" I gasp as Niko wraps his arms around me tightly. I awkwardly pat him on the back. I was not a hugger. I wasn't a fan of how vulnerable they made me feel. Being in someone else's arms. I step back and offer a smile.
Shaking my head at my brother's goofy grin I turn around and Selene was standing right there. I scowl. She just stares at me.
"Assemble 3 others. You and them go with me to the Moon Temple." She nods and sprints away. I stare at Silva who bends down. I smile brightly as I mount him. My stomache does a flip as he stands. I snag the reins and grip them tightly.
"Wish me luck then brother."
