Chapter 34: Freyas Point Of View

The young mother that stood there. Had told me that her name was Astra. She was only seventeen and having a child. I personally thought that it was alittle young to be having a child. But apparently it was normal for her tribe. She was a North mountain wolf.

"Do you not have anyone that can be here with you?" Astra frowns and I noticed that her body trembled alittle.

"No. My mate isn't here. So I am a nervous wreck and I do not want to do this alone!" My heart ached for her.

I knew that lycan births were hard. Mostly for the mother..I step closer to her and help her to sit on the bed and that's when I noticed that her hands were shaking.

"I will stay with you then." Her eyes bulged at me. And she seemed surprised.

"I can not ask you to do that Luna. I am sure that you have many things to worry about besides one pregnant wolf." I offer her a reassuring smile.

"I am YOUR Luna. I am here for whatever you may need. There is no where I would rather be right now." Astra sobs lightly and then smiles.

I had meant what I said. Whether it was to comfort her or myself. I knew deep down that I needed to be here.

My eyes widen as I try to keep a straight face. Astra groans again and she inhales rough deep breaths. Itnwas another contraction and they weren't far apart now..My heart was hammering in my chest as I realized how under qualified I was. But I wouldn't have to deliver the baby! I just had to stay by her side and help her.

She had braced her self on the bed and swayed back and forth slowly. My hand warms as I draw the warmth of my flames to it. I place it at the small of her back and hear her sigh alittle.

"Thank you." I let out a Shaky breath and begin to rub small circles in her lower back.

'Mistress this is insanity! I'm a wreck for her!' I smile to myself. Shade sounded to anxious. I turn as running footsteps by the door. I step toward the door as a nurse runs by.

"What's going on?!" The nurses turns to me and seems alittle shocked. Her bows her head to me.

"Many were injuried when they went out on patrol at the boarders! The doctor is with them now." My heart skipped a beat. Astra was going to deliver this baby at any point and the doctor was else where.

"I have a pregnant woman in this room! This baby is coming! What am I suppose to do?!" The nurse looks worried for a moment and then she looks at me and smiles.

"You get to help deliver a baby!" She rushes into the room and Astra looks panicked. I had forgotten she could hear every word that was said.

Astra lays down and the nurse checks her. She grins.

"It's time." The blood drained from my face and I inhale a swallow breath. The nurse grabs my wrist and pulls me down toward Astra's legs.

"Luna you will have to catch the baby. I have to be up by her so I can help carry her pain." My hands trembled and I nod numbly. Wolves can take on each other's pain. So it wasn't uncommon for more than one wolf to be in a room when a baby was delivered so it eased as much pain for the mother as possible.

'No! Mistress we can't do this!' Shade was in a full on panic now. I giggle nervously.

"Okay Astra you need to push!" Tears stream down her face and she trys to push but pulls her self up further in the bed. I grasp her legs tightly.

"I-I ca-cant!" I inhale a deep breath and try to calm myself down.

"Trust.Me. You can do this!" Astra nods through the tears and slides back down on the bed. I need her to do this!

Astra let's out a muffled scream as she bears down. She inhales several deep breaths and bears down again.

I glance up to see that her wolf had taken over. I nod and glance down trying not to faint. My body tilted slightly. Breath Freya! The head was visible. White Hair?

"A big push now!"

Astra growls and beads down. I clasp my hand under the baby's head and gently pull. The entire baby coming with me. My other hand supporting the baby's bottom. Tears blurred my vision as I smiled down at the baby.

She had a head full of white hair and she cried at the top of her lungs.

"Luna?" I look up lifting the baby into her line of site. Astra's eyes widen and so does the nurses.

"It's a girl." Astea smiles and laughs.

"A white wolf." I arch an eyebrow at them.

"Here. I'll finish this." I held the baby as the nurse cut the cord and helped me to wrap the baby in a blanket before handing her to Astra.

Astra sat there staring her child with so much love. I couldn't help but smile alittle too.

"Have you picked out a name for her?" Astra gives me a funny look before reaching over and touching my arm.

"In my tribe the one who delivers the baby is honored by getting to name them." My eyes widen and my heart races a little. Shee wanted me to name her child?!

"I don't think that would be such a good idea." Astra giggles.

"You are my Luna. It wasn't by chance that you were here today. The Goddess sent you to me. I want you to name her." My heart clenched.

'She's right. We were suppose to be here today.' I roll my eyes at Shade.

"What about Nigeria Shade." Astra beams as the baby moves around. I huff a laugh.

"It's beautiful. Where did you get the names." I reach out and poke at her small fingers.

"They are the names of Dragon Spirits." Astra reaches and arm around me and pulls me to her squeezing me. It had caught me off guard.

"Thank you Luna. It is a perfect name." This girl much be loopy from the pain medicine. I shake head and stand up.

"I will come and check on you to later. Rest well." Astra nods and looks back down at her daughter. My heart seemed to hurt less staring at them. I was able to help bring a life into this world..I rush from the room feeling an odd sense of peace wash over me.
