Sailing

Clair finally was enjoying this world she had been reborn into. Her last world had horrible rules that seemed to protect criminals from prosecution. It took a hero in the form of a Clair to clean up the streets. This world has so many possibilities for justice it made Clair shiver with excitement.

"Careful with the water barrel." Watching these pirates struggle to handle the supplies Clair enjoyed ordering them around. 'I should have been a CEO in my last life. The power trip it must give you to have that much money and influence.' Being a college student before she was caught Clair never got to experience corporate life. Would she have succeeded in that kind of world? We will never know but they say you have to be a psychopath to get those top positions.

*AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Hearing screams Clair had an inkling of what was going on. Putting her fingers in her mouth she whistled as loud as she could. It was a dad whistle one that usually tells you that you did something wrong or need to head home. For Clair, it was a message to her little pet to come.

Most of the men who were in the jungle were running for their lives. Thoughts of regret and hatred for their captain who lead them here monopolized their brains. They ran right towards Clair's position. At least Clair was a monster who could be talked to maybe it would save them.

"Mr. Fox save us." All of them spouted the same line. 'Did they practice what to call me? What a funny bunch of idiots. Not only that but have they forgotten how I have treated them thus far? Have I been too soft? Should I eat a few of them from foot to head to show more dominance?' If the men could hear Clair's thoughts they would be crying.

"Don't worry that is my little pet." Their faces went from fear to confusion. Little? Pet? That thing? Hearing that they all swore in their hearts to not make this monster mad.

Seeing her Yuno come out of the jungle Clair ushered her over with a wave. Knowing the wave and following her scent Yuno had no trouble spotting Clair. Practicing her devil fruit by changing into most of the people she had known in her last life Yuno has gotten used to seeing Clair transformed into random people.

"Who is a cutie this morning? Oh yes, it's you, my big baby." Showing her pet some morning affection the men could not believe what they were seeing. "Umm...Mr. Fox." Said the bravest men of the bunch.

Immediately after taking a low rumbling growl could be heard. Almost like Yuno was telling the men to shut up and let her enjoy this. The men wished they could be born as turtles at least then they could hide in their shells.

Boping Yuno on the nose Clair had to be stern with her pet she needed these men alive. "Don't be mean Yuno these men are our ride off this island." looking hurt at the fact that Clair had hit her Yuno was aggrieved. She wanted nothing more than to tear these men apart for causing her to be punished. She did not know what she did wrong only that these men were a part of it.

Hearing what Clair said the men's eyes shrunk in a piercing glare. 'You are the meanest person on this island.' They thought.

"Get back to work lazy bastards," Clair shouted. She did not want to be on this island longer than she had to. Having these losers be idle was ruining her time with her pet.

Hours went by and the boat was finally loaded and ready to go. All that was left was to set out. Jumping to the boat Clair could be seen flying through the air. It would have been impressive if people of this world could not just walk on the air.

She would have taken the dingy but she doubted it would hold her weight. Unfortunately, when she changes into a person she keeps her mass so she is quite heavy.

The boat tilted with her arrival almost like being in a huge storm it rocked back in forth. She was glad the physics of the one-piece world was a little silly. Whistling her pet she watched as Yuno struggled with the inner turmoil of being unsure of the boat. Seeing Clair do it pushed Yuno to leap.

Smirking at her pet's arrival she road out the rocking of the ship. 'Finally, I can say goodbye to this dumb place.' It felt like a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders.

------------------------------

Boring is the best way to describe sailing for Clair. She did not know what she expected to happen but to be gently pulled along the water was anticlimactic. She decided to just hang around Yuno and enjoy the break from training. It's prudent to keep training but these men were less than reputable people. She would not put it past them to try and kill her while they slept or tried to off them when they were tired.

Another thing that took Clair for a surprise was the time period. Having time now that they were sailing she asked the crew a bunch of questions. How long since Roger had died was the first one on her mind. What she got back was a bunch of blank stares.

It turns out that nobody knew of Roger the king of the pirates. The year was 1464. Clair had no idea where this put her in terms of the story. How long until the world is racked with pirates set off by the promise of treasure by the king of pirates himself? How long until a rubber boy starts becoming a menace to the world government? Clair wished she paid a little more attention to the dates and times of the major events of One-Piece.

'I hope this does not cause trouble for me in joining the Maries.' thought Clair. Yes, the Marines. The very corrupt Marines are what Clair wanted to join. Weighing the pros and cons Clair could only admit the positives out way the negatives. Even if she is not set to be a marine for life it is a good start if anything. If she becomes a pirate will she get as lucky as Luffy and slowly get stronger fighting enemies she can use as a stepping stone? Not likely, more likely she will be found and jailed by the top brass of the marines as soon as she starts showing any threat to them. The best-case scenario is to join the marines. They will train her and place her against opponents that she will have the best success in defeating. The Marines are not a band of hooligans who will fight anybody they are a well-structured military who evaluates threats and acts accordingly. Letting your subordinates go fight an unwinnable battle is bad for recruitment.

They did send people to fight roger but that was more to keep an eye on the guy. Would some random Marine ship be able to put up a fight against Roger? It was more plausible to either keep an eye on him or exchange information with Shanks. Clair like most people thought Shanks was a spy for the world government. How hard would it be for Shanks to slip information on a defeated Marine while nobody was paying attention? The scene of him admitting his wrongs to Roger before he was executed only cemented Clair's idea that Shanks was a snake. While he may have turned a new leaf when Roger died it does not change the fact that he was a spy while on his ship. It was something Clair had wanted to find out for sure if only to satiate her curiosity. If he did turn out to be a snake she wanted to out the little bastard to at least see how it changes Luffy. Would he actually become a Marine like his grandfather?

The pirates could see Clair laughing and it sent shivers down their spines. What evil thing could she be thinking? Is she deciding who to eat first? Racked with uncertainty they all tried to look as busy as possible. Nobody wanted to give her an excuse to use them as a light snack.
