Bestiarum: world of Isra

Note: The difference between a divine beast and a normal animal is its inept abnormality, but one's abnormality may be one's normality. By saying that, the line between a normal animal and a divine beast is often blurred. This catalog is of the beasts that are abnormal to an outsider.

Djinns:

Cyrus' sons, Xerxes and Arslan, conquered and established the Sassanid Empire. During their conquest, they encountered the djinns, shapeshifting beings, and engaged in a prolonged conflict with them. Some of the djinns made deals with demons and became known as black djinns, losing their sanity and free will in the process. The rest agreed to come under the protection of the Sassanid Empire. The twin gods then banished the black djinns and the djinns became respected and revered beings in the empire.

Djinns are considered divine beings and mostly coexist peacefully with the Sassanid people, although some still view them with prejudice and discrimination. The djinns have their own continent, including a secret city that is off-limits to non-djinns. The red desert, created by the djinns, blocks gravity ships from flying over their continent.

Black djinns are demons that were once djinns, formed from dark miasma released from vases. They can shapeshift and mimic the forms of others, making it difficult to distinguish them from real people. Many of them are imprisoned by other demons inside vases or jars and are forced into servitude.

The grey Andrewsarchus:

The grey Andrewsarchus is a formidable predator native to the southern regions of Isra. With its massive size and powerful jaws, it is a formidable opponent to any who dare cross its path. The Zand Sassanids, however, have managed to domesticate these beasts, using them in a battle against their enemies. The Andrewsarchus is covered in brown light fur that blends well with the desert. Its long, powerful legs allow it to traverse even the roughest terrain with ease.

The Zand Sassanids are skilled at training the Andrewsarchus, using their innate cruelty and aggression to turn them into fearsome beasts in battle. Rarely mounted, but when it is, the Andrewsarchus becomes a formidable weapon, able to take down even the most heavily armored opponent.

Despite their use as weapons, the Andrewsarchus are not without their own cunning and ferocity. They are known to break free from their handlers and wreak havoc on the battlefield, causing as much destruction to their own side as to their enemies. The Zand Sassanids respect these beasts, but also fear them, as they are never truly tamed and will always be a wild force to be reckoned with.

The Root Guardian:

It is said that the Root Guardian lives deep in the heart of the northern forests of the western continent, on the frontiers of the Qajar shahdom, where it acts as the guardian and protector of the forest's resources and wildlife. Its massive size and strength make it an intimidating presence, and its ability to move its roots makes it a formidable opponent. Its bark is thick and sturdy, making it difficult to damage, and its roots are lined with sharp thorns that can be used to attack and entangle its prey.

The Root Guardian is fiercely territorial and will attack any intruders who enter its territory without permission. It grabs hold of intruders in its territory and pushes its roots deep into the flesh. It is from the bodies of these poor beings that sprout trees that have a resemblance to a corpse, which allows the root guardian to stretch out its roots even longer distances.

Some believe, that the root guardians were originally djinns that fell in love with nature and wish to protect it and turned into trees. As they stayed as a tree for a long they forgot how to turn back, but kept protecting the forests from unwanted outsiders.
